Fox has released a new trailer for the upcoming 10th season of American Idol. It showcases the two new judges, complete with Steven Tyler’s trademark falsetto-esque scream and Jennifer Lopez reminiscing about growing up in the Bronx. American Idol returns on January 19 and will air for the first time on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The biggest format change is the elimination of the round of 24, with the top 12 locked in at the end of Hollywood week.

Until they stop separating the guys and girls AND allow original songs, there’s no reason to talk about this show. Karaoke is much more entertaining at a bar.
Not separating the guys and girls would lead to a top six of all guys, thanks to the tweens and pedo hausfraus.
That teaser is suppose to make up want to watch the show right?
I hate to be negative, but honesty rules. This looks like a blowfest. J-Lo & Tyler haven’t had a hit in years between them. Okay, they did at one time, that’s cool. They know their stuff. But where’s the dynamic of dopey Paula gushing while Simon rolls his eyes, then snaps? Is Randy gonna carry that water? I don’t think so. Maybe it’s a marketing failure, maybe they should have shown a quick disagreement, J-Lo shaking her head, Randy throwing his empty cup at Tyler, SOMETHING that harkens back to the core attraction of the show. They’ve already taped miles of footage, wasn’t there something they could have used to show a little fang-bearing, just a taste of controversy that we all used to love about the show? No thanks, I’ll pass.
