Warner Bros has shifted around its release schedule, moving the Steve Carell-starrer Crazy, Stupid, Love from an April 22, 2011 berth to a summer bow on July 29. Carell stars in the comedy with Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon. To make room, the studio has pulled the New Line comedy Horrible Bosses from the July 29 date. It is now undated but still slated for a summer release. Warner Bros has set the Russell Brand-Helen Mirren-starrer Arthur for release on April 8, and it pushed Something Borrowed from June 10 to May 6.

No wonder Alan Horn is leaving this list looks awful, Robinov will duck and cover like the weasel he is and Greg Silverman will take the blame. Bring back Lorenzo. Maybe not.
I’m sure Silverman is actually to blame somehow…
Yes, Easter weekend was getting entirely too crowded, and it’s not really a good weekend to release most films. I hope to God that Lionsgate has more imagination than to release L.O.L on Easter. I’ve heard rumors it might be Easter, and I’ve heard rumors it might be early april. I know Tyler Perry is not moving from his Easter perch, so why would Lionsgate release two films the same weekend? I just don’t trust Lionsgates marketing as they haven’t always performed on marketing. And I’ve read they skimp on salaries for their marketing people.
UPDATE: L.O.L is indeed going to be released on Easter. So Lionsgate will have two films in the same frame. Awkward! Adam Sandler will counter-program Easter to the max with his adult comedy, “Born To Be A Star”, while Disney will have a nature documentary for parents who want to take their young children out.
That’s why Crazy, Stupid, Love moved. Because they didn’t want to go up against Adam Sandler (IMO). An Easter release date for L.O.L. is safe, but frustrating. It potentially helps the gross a little, but reduces the upside for a breakout hit. I feel Miley’s movie can stand on it’s own any weekend. But whatever; I’m there.
Looking forward to Something Borrowed–glad it’s coming out earlier! Loved the book.
Steve Carell… not a movie star.
your opinion… irrelevant
Agreed, he stinks, not funny anymore, his act is boring, Date Night was awful, The Office sucks now, he needs something but Adam Venit has no taste so he is screwed.
Jason Heyman get on the phone and save this guy.
But you wouldn’t know it by looking at the opening weekends of overall performance of his movies at the box office. Get a clue buddy.
WHATS THE WORD ON HORRIBLE BOSSES???
Yes, Ed, not a movie star at all. No, wait, I’m sorry. Actually, 9 of his last 10 wide releases grossed over 20 million in their first frame.
Ed……not a critic.
Horrible Bosses was NOT a good script — even by frat-guy comedy standards. Very much one of those movies written by rich people pondering what it must be like to have a ‘real’ job. It’s nothing more than (producer) Brett Ratner trying and failing to cash in on the Hangover. I hope it rots on a shelf.
Brett Ratners in today’s breed of “director.” he’s not one. For that matter look at the list of writers on films today. Are they really writers or just great producers in writer’s clothing. Look closely.
i can think of nothing more insane than a remake of ‘arthur.’ leave it alone. the original is just fine, thanks….
Then why are u responding?
I agree, Steve is funny but limited. Dinner For Shmucks was horrible.
Not a star. Never was. Was at WMA years ago and was considered a fourth banana, as was Mitch Rouse, Will Ferrel (they passed!), Colbert. Steve falls in the mediocre of the times with Ed Helms, Rob Riggle etc.. Fourth or fifth bananas at a time where we can’t find the real talent through the BS.
