EXCLUSIVE: Ben Foster is negotiating to join Rachel Weisz and Anthony Hopkins in 360, the Peter Morgan-scripted drama that will be directed by Fernando Meirelles. The indie drama has been building steam since last year when Weisz agreed to re-team with Meirelles after he directed to a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in The Constant Gardener. Hopkins joined shortly after. 360 is a series of intersecting storylines that deal with love and infidelity. The film is inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s Reigen, the play most famously turned into the 1950s film La Ronde. Andrew Eaton is producing, and David Linde is exec producer. Linde and Eaton worked with UTA to square funding through a combination of sources including Austrian financiers and BBC Films. There is no distributor yet.
Foster most recently starred with Jason Statham in the CBS Films remake The Mechanic, reprising the protege role that Jan-Michael Vincent played in the 1972 Charles Bronson thriller. Foster wrapped the Oren Moverman-directed drama Rampart and next stars in the Baltasar Kormakur-directed drama Contraband opposite Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. He’s repped by WME and manager Ken Jacobson.

Weisz didn’t win Best Actress for CONSTANT GARDENER but rather Best Supporting Actress
Rachel won Best Supporting Actress. Ben Foster is amazing. When is he getting his Oscar role??
Jeffrey Caine quote:
During a set visit to Kenya while THE CONSTANT GARDENER was being filmed I experienced this illuminating contrast: Rachel Weisz, at a scene rehearsal, declared that her character was attracted to the character played by Danny Houston. The script, following le Carre’s novel, made it very clear that she thought him a “creep”. When I pointed this out I was subjected by Weisz to a torrent of fishwife abuse. How dared I tell her how to interpret a character etc? I was not the director. At the ensuing awards ceremonies she punished me by failing to mention my name, thanking only le Carre, the director and producer, and the cast and crew. By contrast, while preparing over lunch for a different scene, Ralph Fiennes, studying his script, beckoned me over, pointed at a place on the page and asked: “What am I thinking here?”
I saw Mechanic at a junket screening last night, pretty decent. Ben steals the movie.
Ben Foster is a very interesting actor – similar to his fellow Canadian, Ryan Gosling. Ben deserves big screen stardom.
Foster is over rated. Ruins every movie he’s in. Stop casting him already.
I think hes a pretty good actor personally – plus he has good screen presence. He just needs `that’defining role.
