Ben Walker has been set by Timur Bekmambetov to play the lead role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the 20th Century Fox adaptation of the Seth Graham-Smith novel that’s being produced by Bekmambetov, Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. Deal was just locked. Walker, who most recently starred on stage in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, has been on the short list for a macho role, most recently the Beast in X-Men: First Class. Walker had been the rumored favorite for days, after testing with Benjamin Walker, James D’Arcy, Adrien Brody, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Josh Lucas. He’s repped by WME and Inspire Entertainment.
The 3D project has been one of the hotter ones in Hollywood after 20th Century Fox’s Emma Watts and Peter Kang grabbed it after an auction that pitted Fox against Sony, Paramount, Universal and Summit. It was a fully fleshed out package, as Bekmambetov, Burton and Lemley used their own money to option the book, and get a script by the author. Grahame-Smith’s novel re-imagines Lincoln’s life as an axe-throwing, skilled killer of bloodsuckers, an obsession that dates back to the death of his mother as the hands of vampires. Lincoln vents his wrath on the vampires and their slave-owning protectors. The film was sold with a $69 million budget, but a first dollar gross ask just north of 25% (though insiders said it didn’t end up that high when the deal was made). Fox will release the film June 22, 2012.

Gotta say, Timur is pretty impressive in picking outside the box choices to star in studio movies. First James McAvoy, now this. Good for him.
Whoa.
How tall is this guy?
6’3.
yaaay for that kid! he’s talented. he will make this movie fresh and believable.
The book sucked. Hope the movie is better. I’m a fan of Timur, so it just might be…
script is terrible…
the script sucks too…
I saw him in “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” on Broadway and I’m a huge fan. He’s going to be fantastic! <3
Agreed
cannot wait for this!
3D…..and out.
I can definitely wait for this. Perhaps, my next lifetime.
Side note: he’s engaged to one of Meryl’s daughters, actress Mamie .
cheers them both, may their future be bright indeed…
OMG. He is so hot and SUPER talented, and amazing in Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson. I can’t wait!
Burton, Emma, and Timur deserve each other. This project feels as lifeless as its antagonists.
Isn’t this the “movie” they talked about on “Party Down”, at that girl’s sweet 16, when Henry ran into an old friend? Or was it something similar?
That’s what I was thinking to. Wasn’t there something about Ernest Hemingway to.
Acourding to Seth Grahame-Smith
Smith credits the original idea for Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer to the Party Down episode “Taylor Stiltskin Sweet Sixteen,” in which two characters discuss a movie in which Edgar Allen Poe hunts vampires in Baltimore.[6]
I saw the trailer for this movie at the beginning of Tropic Thunder…or was it between Planet Terror and Death Proof? Either way the audience completely lost it the first time the bare-chested Honest Abe took out one of the wooden stakes he concealed in his stovetop hat and said “A house divided against itself cannot stand, muther f*cker!” and drove it through Stephen A. Douglas’ heart.
