Geoff Stults (Happy Town) has landed the lead in the proposed Bones spinoff aka The Finder, which will be introduced in Episode 19 of the mothership series. The spinoff, based on The Locator books written by Richard Greener, centers on Walter Sherman aka “the Locator” (Stults), a former military policeman who can find anything. Stults, repped by UTA and the Collective, joins Michael Clarke Duncan, recently cast as as Walter’s partner Leo. More from TVLine.
Meanwhile, Fox has cast the youngest Locke child in the drama pilot Locke & Key, tapping Skylar Gaertner to play 6-year old Bode. Also cast in the pilot starring Miranda Otto is Harrison Thomas in a recurring role as a troubled teen possessed by an evil spirit.

Would have been cool to see Van Der Beek instead since he’s making a mini-comeback through guest spots and viral videos. But hey, Stults is cool. I only started watching “Bones” this season. It’s a pretty good procedural.
Please watch the earlier seasons on Netflix – you will see how good it really used to be.
This season might be a bit lacking, but “bullet in the brain” was an amazing return to form in my opinion. The opening of that episode was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
SO MUCH FOR THE DIVERSITY SEMINAR!!!!
Apparently these people have never seen 7th Heaven or Happy Town, because that guy is awful. He has a brother who is equally bad.
So true.
I was going to say, has he taken acting lessons since 7th Heaven?
Yep. Another white guy selling a pilot about a white guy doing really white things. THE FINDER.. you can hear the jokes. THE FINDER can’t find an audience.
Jesus Christ, Elia — whoever you are… Every single post about someone getting hired or something selling, you’re sure to jump in there somewhere and complain about white men.
Just curious — what is your career aspiration?
Are you a writer, actress, what?
Let us know and maybe someone can point you in the direction of a mentor who might help you foster your talent. Or confirm for you that you don’t have any, so you can shut the fuck up and go pester a form in a different industry that you’re also not succeeding in.
Not gonna shut up until there is true equality in the Industry hiring. So kiss my fat Indian ass.
but I am curious… do you feel the white guilty?
News flash for you, Elia: this is still a majority white country. You’re just jealous because you’re not white. So you can kiss my white ass.
Nice company you keep, Enough Already. This is why I won’t shut up.
Well it all depends on what “true equality” means. So do you complain regularly about the lack of diversity in the NBA… Cuz that place is way skewed beyond all “normal” reflections of racial demographics in this country.
Noticed you didn’t bother to mention what your career goals and hopes are — why not? Seriously, somebody might be able to help you if you stopped playing the victim and actually advocated for your own talent — if you have any…
It really is shameless calling this a “Bones” spinoff. A spin off is when you take one of the regular cast and build them a series of their own. The Finder/Locater is only going to be on Bones to set up the new series. If it was at least a Kathy Reich’s character it would be one thing but it’s the creation of a totally different writer.
They missed this one big time. Wesley French would have been a great and interesting choice. Ho-hum.
Yeah, this guy is such a boring, generic actor. Really surprised he is a lead in a major pilot.
Geoff is a good dude. Always happy to see nice people get work.
No opinion on the actor. Just hate seeing anyone trade on Bones’ name without any meaningful connection between it and the new show.
Seriously, is there a factory where they grow these interchangeable, hard-abbed, bed-headed boy-men? Isn’t human cloning illegal?
Haha. He looks like Josh Duhamel’s uglier, younger brother except with a fat jaw. Generic in every possible way.
Oh my god that’s exactly it. Josh Duhamel, but without the essential Duhamelery.
Lol, I thought it was Duhamel or Oliphant because I can`t tell those two apart. Now there`s the third triplet.
Can’t wait for the spinoff.
And dear Elia:
I’m sorry that you’re a failed writer. And ethnic to boot. Must be double the failure since you can’t get work. Hollywood LOVES ethnicity, so you must be just that bad.
Stop with the bashing. Go find a new career.
“Hollywood LOVES ethnicity.” Really? How many shows have diversity leads? How many writers, directors, and producers are from diversity backgrounds? The Oscars have been around since 1929 and Kathryn Bigelow was the FIRST female director to win the Oscar. And in 2011, there are no diversity actors nominated for Best Actors/Actress. Captain Awesome, check your facts before you blindly pledge your allegiance. Hollywood is great. That is a fact. But it DOES NOT LOVE ethnicity. That has to change!
Yes — really… I’ve had no less than three showrunners tell me in the last few years, “I’d hire you in a heartbeat if you were a minority woman.” There are mandates for hiring — and your competitive pool is so much shallower than mine. So get to work and show your stuff. If you really are a minority woman and can’t get one of these diversity mandated jobs… Then you are truly without talent and should be looking for employment elsewhere. The door is wide open and the wheelchair is sitting there so you don’t even half to walk through it. If you can’t roll through it — that’s sad.
I don’t understand what race has to do with anything. Perhaps ethnics don’t get the work, cause they just aren’t as good, nothing to do with their skin tone.
But, if you want to play that game, im going to start bitching about Bollywood!
omnwtf why are there no white folk getting parts in Bollywood films! Its a consiracy i tell you!!
If you read the latest Entertainment Weekly showing all the actor/actress nominations, only one is of a diversity background. ONE. Hollywood loves ethnicity like a dog fighter loves dogs.
I agree. Hollywood does love ethnicity and talent. E don’t spew your bitterness because of your heritage. If you failed in your career it might be because of your negative attitude. Not the color of your skin or your last name. Hate is really ugly. No matter who is spewing it.
Elia–
You need to deal with your hatred of the industry and YOUR failure to succeed. If you had the talent, your work would get noticed. Btw, Michael Clarke Duncan is co-starring in the spinoff. Last time I checked, he was black.
While I’m not really agreeing with Elia, Hollywood may like diversity, but it doesn’t love diversity.
Look at network TV.Out of 5 networks and about 113 shows, only 3 have minority leads. And 2 of those shows are new.110 shows and they all have white leads.
Look at NBC.Before Undercovers debuted this season, NBC hadn’t developed a series with a predominantly black cast since 1997.13 years.
Before Nikita, there hadn’t been a series on network TV with an Asian/Asian-American lead since All American Girl in 1995.That’s 15 years.
My name is Tay Lindsey, Im laughing at all of you racist people with your hidden comments, about lead roles ethnicity blah blah blah…I just did an extra part in “bones the finder”….If you got acting skills and your unique with your own style you will get the part…No mater what race you are..Its up to the producers and casting directors….To give you that part once you audition for it…Relax..and wait….. your turn will come…Stop being so negative..
I totally love this team! Bout time you guys came up with a decent spinoff! When does it start?????
Gotta agee with renner. Spent some time in Canada. Saw lots of “minorities” on Canuck TV. was really surprising since in real life, I was there three months before I saw a black face other than the one in the mirror.
I love bones! But recently the plots have been less about the murder and the science and more about the personal relationships! The show hasn’t had a decent episode with a decent plot in weeks! And when I watched that episode today it was horrible! They wasted Bones’s time by premiering their horribly acted spin off “The Finder”. I turned it off halfway through when I realized Brennan and her team weren’t coming back into the big picture any time soon. So thanks but no thanks, I have nothing against that new show but it would have been easier if they just did their own pil

Just watched the Bones episode… I honestly don’t see how The Finder could be a spinoff, considering it’s a completely different subject. Not to mention the cliché characters and the simply awful (imo) concept. They actually made Bones look bad. Definitely not something I’ll be watching.
You’re truly a racist moron. Im part indian and people like you make me regret that. You’re the same as the idiots that are fighting so hard to get team mascots to stop using any reference to the native culture. Get a life and get over yourself.
Hollywood is a a psychological test of characters to see which falsifier can sell the most soap powders.
The psychology of casting drifts further and further away from reality every year.
Simultaneously,
There are too many offspring of actors getting jobs, when they have no talent.
Why would anyone in their right mind move to Hollywood to be an actor?
I think we all want to have the same kind of plot each week, but new things can appeal to people as well. My wife and I liked the spin-off and looked to see when it was going to be on the air (no listings yet). I like the setting and the premise (I also liked Key West with Fischer Stevens, so I may have unique taste
If it follows a plot where the mix is a little DiVinci code meets Indiana Jones, there could be something really awesome here.
First off, The Finder episode was awful and awkward. There may be an audience for it, but it won’t be me.
Second, I agree, Hollywood is a great place for diversity. As a woman, I know I have a better chance in the entertainment industry than I do on Wall Street.
But, to the point, I don’t want a job because I am a woman. I want the job because I am the best candidate. And, I am pretty darn good and so I have worked in the business although (gasp), I’m a fiscal conservative and a (bigger gasp) Christian. Those are two traits that will get you bounced out of Hollywood, not being black or gay or hispanic or Indian. In fact, my gay friends agree that I will more likely face discrimination in Hollywood than they will. But, thankfully, my work is good and that is enough to keep me around once they find out my dirty secrets.
I worked at company in DC and I knew that I would never make it to the top because I was a woman. So, guess what? I left and went to a company that paid better and that had fewer glass ceilings. Life isn’t fair, so do what you can do to make it were you can make it and be happy with the opportunities you have been given.
The harsh fact is that very few people succeed in Hollywood. Its not an easy business, so if you can’t make it, you’ve got to find a job that pays the bills.
As for diversity efforts for writers and actors, try ABC Television Networks Diversity Initative.
This is not a spin off. This is more like using Bones as a springboard. They’re calling this a spin off and showing a beginning in Bones to get viewers. The show may have potential, but they are pulling a cheap trick showing a sort of pre-pilot in Bones then calling it a spin off. It would be a spin off if the show was focused aroung Hodgins or Angela or… or even Sweets. This is not a spin off. It may have potential however.
