EXCLUSIVE: Brendan Fraser has returned to CAA, after spending the past half decade at WME. Move comes just as Fraser is signing on for Seconds of Pleasure, a drama which Neil LaBute is prepping to shoot in the UK in March. Kristin Scott Thomas will also star, and Colin Firth and Ed Harris are mulling offers. Fraser’s slot was open, after he left the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth. While the original 3D film was a hit, New Line would not pay a pre-negotiated sequel option price of around $15 million. They re-cast, and Dwayne Johnson took the male lead in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Brillstein Entertainment Partners continues to manage Fraser.

He is a terrific actor who has to continue to mature into character roles. Forget those big pay days. They are over. The only mistake he can make now is not to be honest with where he is in the business. His star was bigger than it should have been. The old WMA did a great job for him going back over a dozen years. He is lucky and should be “real.” Brillstien is just taking the $. They are useless. The future can still be rewarding but his reps better be honest with him and tell him those big offers are not coming in anymore. The truth doesn’t have to hurt, I hope he just does good work and his new reps who probably told him he could have the George Clooney career to sign him get “real” too. If not he’ll be like Billy Bob Thornton in a year or two. Wasn’t he going to have the Clooney career when he left WMA to go to CAA. lol
you just said Brendan Fraser is a terrific actor. Therefore everything else you said after can’t be taken seriously. he is AWFUL
If you’ve ever met this man in person he could be one of the wierdest people I’ve ever met. He is either always high or jacked up on presciption pills. How he ever gets work is beyond me?

I love him too, he’s a very good actor who can play very different roles. When the film is not very good and he is treated badly by the director, why is it always the main actor who is criticized? ! In good film he showed how good he was. In addition it is very attractive which is still important in the trades of images.

I would like to know from the one writer how he knows Mr. Fraser to be a pill popper? One meeting couldn’t tell you that.
Granted he runs to the beat of his own drum, maybe he is insecure, shy, who knows, but he is a good actor. I’m so tired of seeing him run down in the press, even when he’s not working. People say he’s a goof, yet I’ve seen so called “great” actors, acclaimed for some film they did 30 yrs ago, be the rudest most self-centered sob on a network talk show, yet “he” is cool. What is cool about being a bum? And why do people care that he makes movies for kids? They are what they are, he has three children, it is almost a natural event for an actor to do this at this point in their lives. Considering the crap out there our kids see now on TV alone, God bless him for the simple innocence of them.
However, that said, he also has Gods and Monsters, Quiet American, Twilight of the Gold’s under his belt and several more great movies. Some of later have been very dark and hard to watch, but he has “something”. The movies may not all be great, but you don’t forget “him”. Studios know this.
Someone mentioned him wanting Clooney’s career. Why? He HAS his own career. I’ve enjoyed Mr. Fraser’s work from the beginning. I don’t care about his personal life. I’m happy I don’t see him being rude to people, police line ups, or reality shows. I’ll continue to watch his work, because he cares about what he does, and it shows. Balding? Who gives a @%$! Plump? Baby I’d take him if he’d have me. The media has it ass backwards on looks, they don’t know what real is anymore. Good luck to Fraser and may he have many decades to come in Hollywood.
Well said, thank you. I’ve loved him (and everything he does) for years. He’s never been one of those Hollywood attention-seeking brats that always have to be in the news for all the wrong reasons and he’s always lived an honest life.
If these people had any sense, they’d be able to see that. Then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion, it’s just a shame so many are so off base!!!
I, too, certainly wouldn’t knock him back if he offered either…I can but dream can’t I??

Let’s be honest, Patti Felker had him since they were both young turks. She is the one that pushed and pushed. If Patti was on your call sheet, it was about Brendan. If his star surpassed his talent, it was not only venerable WMA, but Patti too.
I look forward to seeing my favorite actor in this upcoming film among the many of his movies that I am enjoying catching up on. I hope this agency treats him well. He’s a versatile and brilliant actor.
