EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed HBO True Blood star Joe Manganiello and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief star Logan Lerman. Both actors have followed their agent, Kami Putnam-Heist, who moved from WME to CAA on January 3rd as scooped by Deadline.
At the time, she brought only 127 Hours star James Franco with her. Manganiello is reputedly a possible candidate for the Zack Snyder-directed Superman film that Chris Nolan is producing. Lerman next stars in the Summit/Constantine film The Three Musketeers, and was also in James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma.

so now she has 3 clients?
Unless he’s planning on quitting True Blood after this season, I don’t see Manganiello being cast in The Man of Steel. It has a shooting schedule of 8 months, from August until April. The next season of True Blood shoots between that time.
Logan Lerman is such a little bitch. He’s like 5’4” and 110 lbs…
Kami is a total ding bat. Joe Manganiello……who cares???
wow bitter at all?
he’s not 5’4″ logan is 5’8″ and I CARE
Ugh, Manganiello. I hope I never have the displeasure of working with him again. Giant ego for a guy who’s done squat.
lol, it all comes back around don’t worry =)
Why do pictures that accompany deadline consistently get changed 20 minutes after posting to other pictures? Are the people featured and/or their reps consistently writing in asking to replace them?
I’m not saying I would do any different, don’t get me wrong!
Her first mission should be to get Joe Manganiello the lead role in ZACK SNYDER’S SUPERMAN!!
Eww no.
I actually like ol Superman. I’d hate to see this happen to him.
Logan Lerman was awful in Percy Jackson – you can tell he was acting the whole time.
the percy script was awful not lerman’s fault. and it’s good that deadline mentioned his being in 310 to yuma where he delivered a much better performance and he’s one of the most popular young actors
Even if Percy Jackson had a better script and Director, he would have still sucked. After all, Lerman was actively involved in the making of the movie. According to Lerman himself, he was even in the writer’s room! So with that being said, we can blame him all we want!
BTW: I seen his performance in 3:10 to Yuma, it’s not that impressive.
Don’t worry people, Joe Manganiello is not up for SUPERMAN nor does he deserve to be. Egomaniac and not a good actor
Joe Manganiello is a great actor and a great person. Everyone that knows Joe loves him. Kind, compassionate and sensitive.
I wanted to love Joe on TB. I couldn’t wait to see him act and add his own special magic to an already superb ensemble. Instead I found a hot guy who was very boring to watch and appeared mostly lost around his brilliant co-stars. They bring so much texture to their individual roles. JM lacks similar chops. Hope he took more than a few acting classes during hiatus.
JM was excellent in TB. Looking forward to how his character develops in next season.
Wonder if this affects logan lerman’s role as charlie in the upcoming Perks of Being a Wallflower film version? Hope not he’d be great in that role
Lerman should still be in the Perks movie as he was attached before this shift to caa. It’s an indie film so maybe it’s not affected by this
From what I’ve seen, I’m honestly not looking forward to seeing
Manganiello in a Superman movie. He was pretty craptastic in True Blood. We might be better off having a cardboard cutout play Superman.
LMAO!!! Exactly my thoughts. Cardboard cutout lol. There’s now way he could rock Clark Kent even though he’s built to play Superman. I wonder if Snyder is going to do dark version of Superman like new Batman movies? In that case they need really good actors IMHO.
Can you get more of a cardboard cutout than Routh?
LOL. Good point.
Routh gave the flattest, dullest performance imaginable.
You know I’ve liked almost every Superman actor ever: Fatherly George Reeves, Slightly hammy Christopher Reeves, Yuppie Dean Cain, Heartthrob Tom Welling, and Cool Tim Daly. Routh is the first ever Superman actor that I didn’t like and if we get smarmy beak-face Mangjello, that will be the second one ever.
Hahahahaha
I guess That CAA contacted Nikki and asked her to replace Manganiello’s previous picture in the report with this one which is a close-up and resembles more to Superman/Clark Kent!
Isn’t that right??
So let me get this straight – in 2 weeks, she’s only convinced 3 of her 20 or so clients to go with her to CAA? That’s a little odd, isn’t it? Usually, when agents go to a new agency, all of their clients go with them. What’s different this time?
No it’s not odd. It’s a process. The entire client list does not move en masse. She can’t yet bring clients still under contract with WME.
Wow, brutal comments. Joe is actually a good guy and Kami is a great agent and person.
You guys really have no idea what you are talking about and it’s obvious, I have worked with them both.
Let’s see CAA do what WME couldn’t. Not going to happen, that fucker is stuck on True Blood for 2 more seasons and no shot in hell of Alan Ball letting him go. Once he realizes that he’s going right back with his tail between his legs.
Met Joe a few times. Egomaniac is right. Total douche bag, not a great actor. Please don’t ruin Superman with him.
What other actors or industry insiders think of personality means squat. Audiences are really intrigued and love him.
He was stuck on himself back in the day at CMU. I know its doubtful, but hopefully his success will humble him.
All of this blather over Joe, and the Percy Jackson kid, and James Franco. CAA wanted Franco, and I am sure will enjoy the other fruit that Kami brings forth in the future.
However, this is just a skirmish in a 45 years WAR, in which CAA is kicking the living S#$T out of WME(the agency formerly known as WMA and Endeavor). Not only do they have Kami, but they have Kami’s recent knowledge of who is Vunerable at the WME. I am not just talking about Eric Bana, who is always looking for a job.
CAA wants to know where the next weak point it, and they will take another star and another star, and on and on. One Joe, and one James Franco, might not seem so grand. But when it leads to 5 other James Franco size stars, and 10 more Joe M’s. Then comes the tipping point.
CAA is trying to find the tipping point, where they can sign enough stars away from WME, that it will be impossible for WME to ever fight back. This was done to WMA in the 1980′s by Ovitz, and it will happen again.
This is a blood feud. Ari and gang hate CAA, and CAA hates them back. CAA just does it with a bit more class. They dont like to appear that they street fight like Ari does. Now like Kami, there are more double agents, working inside WME who would much rather be at the Death Star. Kami will let them know who wants to come next. Look for more defection in 2011.
All WME does is steal clients away from lesser agencies, and if they do manage to take a CAA client they are usually past their prime and they return to CAA within a year anyway.
Mike and Nikke, please just do a count on the major signings for 2010 btw the 2 agencies. It has to be CAA 20 and WME 4. At that ratio WME should be bled out in the next 5 years.
The only thing that will ever bring down CAA is CAA. WME is just an annoyance. Ari how long are you going to wait to make the charge. Why are you losing your young stars Shia, James Franco, etc etc. CAA tore up UTA to the point they dont have a wheel of comedy but maybe a hubcap. CAA will tear down WME piece by piece.
CAA is saying hey WME, you build the young stars and get them right to their peak, and just as they are peaking BUH BYE. We will take them off your hands.
It is 2011 WME, you just had your retreat, did you learn how to compete with CAA in that retreat. I doubt it. Why cuz most of you want to work at CAA. That is WME’s problem. The magic died when Endeavor died. CAA saw Endeavor as more of a threat then WME, cuz it had class. WME is another bloated elephant, lost on its way to the elephant graveyard. Just fall in grave and bury yourself already, its getting boring, or fight back for gods sake and make this War interesting.
Percy Jackson as a series of books are absolutely brilliant and I thought the film was really good, if you didn’t think of it as the same thing. But the acting didn’t let it down in what ever way, shape or form you think it did, what let it down was the deviation from the original.
Is JM really full of ego?? Holy sh$t, I’ve been routing for him too. I can’t stand a nasty attitude!
