There has been a flurry of activity on the pilot pickup front today. CBS just greenlighted comedy pilot Vince Uncensored, written by veteran sitcom writer Phoef Sutton and executive produced by Conan O’Brien.
The project, produced by O’Brien’s Conaco Prods. and Warner Bros. TV, is the first pilot to come out Conaco Prods.’s overall deal with WBTV signed last spring following O’Brien’s exit from NBC and the
announcement of his new latenight talk show at TBS.
Vince Uncensored centers on a man who, after a life-changing experience, decides to take a more honest approach to his life, work and family. Sutton wrote the script and is executive producing with O’Brien and David Kissinger. Conaco most recently co-produced the short-lived NBC legal drama Outlaw.

New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

Good for Phoef — he’s a good dude, one of the great Cheers writers.
Great to hear! Phoef is absolutely hilarious — a huge talent.
The premise doesn’t sound like much but with this kind of sitcom it’s never about the premise, it’s about whether it’s executed well. That requires a creator who can actually write sitcoms, so I’m more interested for this than the flashier premises from less experienced writers.
Couldn’t agree more!
The descriptions in these PR releases always make them sound so pedestrian and bland but Ive read the script and it is daring and funny. Good for Sutton!
Will the promos say from the producers of OUTLAW and THANKS?
It should – THANKS is one of the most brilliant satires I ever saw on TV and Sarah Vowell raves about it in her latest book The Wordy Shipmates and also on This American Life. (Too smart for TV anyway…)
No disrespect meant to TERRIERS, but Phoef is one of the few working TV comedy writers who brings the brains, so this–plus the fact that it’s multi-camera–is most welcome news.
Great news for both Phoef and Kissinger. I hope this one goes all the way.
The Coco story?
