Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to broadcast series TV with a pilot at CBS. In its first drama pilot pickup this season, CBS has greenlighted Ringer, which is toplined by the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star. The project hails from ABC Studios, CBS TV Studios and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. UPDATE: The pickup of Ringer was followed by another drama pilot order by CBS to an untitled supernatural medical drama from writer Susannah Grant.
Ringer, written on spec by Supernatural writer-producers Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder, centers on a troubled young woman (Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister, until she learns that her twin’s life has a bounty on it as well. Brillstein’s Peter Traugott is executive producing, with Gellar, Charmelo and Snyder co-executive producing. Geller, repped by ICM and Brillstein’s Joanne Colonna, has been heavily pursued by the broadcast networks since the end of Buffy in 2003. Her only TV gig since then had been the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladys. Charmelo and Snyder, who are story editors on Supernatural, are with UTA and the Shuman Co.
The untitled Susannah Grant project, from CBS TV Studios and studio-based Timberman/Beverly Prods., centers on an ultra-competitive surgeon whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the here-after. Grant is executive producing with Timberman and Beverly who are in their first development season at their new studio home, CBS Studios.

IDK who all agrees with me but i thinky that they needy to come out with a buffy the vampire slyer movie starring SMG,ANTHONY HEAD,AND A,HANNIGAN, oh and DB FROM BONES AND ANGEL B4 that
A: Alyson Hannigan is too famous now for Buffy, it’s a cult show so it won’t draw in big crowds. B: Joss Whedon wouldn’t direct, he’s too famous now too, so a Buffy movie would be terrible anyway (remember the movie that started it all?) And C:Immortal vampires that have aged 8 years would be very difficult to explain well. So sorry hun, a Buffy movie’s out of the picture
Actually i read an artical before when they talked about a buffy movie joss and sarah were both up for doin it but they wanted to revamp the series and try to bring it up to the new generation. but if they do that i think it will ruin the show there is no buffy and wil never be a buffy movie that is worth anything without SMG.

One word: Shanshu. They would have a few options [assuming they set the show after the conclusion of Angel.] 1) Spike is “The Vampire with a Soul”; 2) Angel is “The Vampire With a Soul”, but this would require some kind of work around because of the contract he signed with the Circle of the Black Thorn; 3) Both could become human. Perhaps, the “Vampire With a Soul” was really “Vampires With Souls”, or Angel could simply hunt down a Moira Demon, seeing as that their blood turns vampires into humans.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the greatest shows on television, the only ones who don’t realize this are the ones who either didn’t get it, or didn’t watch it.

Who’s Paul Walker?
He was one of the lead characters of The fast and the furious franchises. He played Brian Spillner. He’s also been in the Skulls, Into the Blue and Joy Ride. He is super cute too. Thats probably y they compared Sarah to him. Blonde and blue eyes.
Does CBS actually have room for new shows?They actually ordered full seasons for all of their freshman shows, which had them scampering trying to place the 5 or so midseason series they had to replace whatever new show was canceled.
Of those 5 new shows that were renewed, I don’t see any of them being canceled.Besides Medium, I don’t think any of the current shows are ending this season.
So, if all but 1 of your old shows are returning in the fall, and 5 of your new shows are returning, and X amount of your midseason shows are returning, where are these other new shows going to be?
You’re not wrong in any of your points, but this is pilot season…CBS will probably pick up as many drama and comedy pilots as usual. We won’t know until May how many new shows they’ll actually pick up. For that matter, CBS does cancel shows that are pulling numbers other networks would kill for.

It’s a pilot. It has to get picked up to be a series. Don’t get excited yet.
I hope CBS doesn’t pick it up. This is not a show for CBS that is mostly watched by old people. Most young viewers won’t even find out about this show because we just don’t watch CBS and it will finish canceled without a proper ending, same as Moonlight and Jericho.
I will pass if it is on CBS. Better CW or Fox.

First they gotta cast the thing, then shoot it, then edit it, then present it, then pray the network is actually dumb enough to order it to series.
What an amazing opportunity. But I agree that the shows are a little too outside-format for CBS. They might fit better on a USA or similar, but too much USA content is home-grown to want to pick up CBS’s scraps. Should have started on cable.
Gellar is an amazing talent and has a rabid fanbase but the concept sounds uninspired and one note. hopefully there’s real substance here. time will tell i suppose.
It’s a very convoluted premise. The only thing going for it is the star.
I have this weird soft spot for SM Gellar because she’s the quintessential fond memory of watching TV while growing up in the 90s. So much nostalgia, and she still looks hot. I’m definitely anxious to see this new project.

I know a lot of people who are gonna be rooting against this one.
And I know a lot of people who will be rooting for this one as she was an A-list screenwriter who wasn’t undermining the strike along the way, unlike the ten or twelve-person group that John Wells was assembling at Attanasio’s house.
SMG is likeable enough, but the only thing more tired than YET ANOTHER forensic/procedural show is yet another supernatural show.
The networks seem to be increasingly creatively bankrupt.

But the other pilot picked up in tandem with this one @ CBS was indeed supernatural. Therein lies the confusion.
SMG’s pilot sounds like more of an action/adventury sort of thing. A distant cousin to “Prison Break” or “The Fugitive.”
Hey, I love Supernatural! It may not be “Buffy”, but its smart and at times, even funny (well, for guys). I think good horror-themed shows (not medium, GW) are ten times more interesting than cop shows.
And lay off the old people, ok? I’m older than most of you and watched BUFFY since the beginning. It was meant for an older audience anyway (certainly not for teens).
