After a couple of weeks of hitting series highs in total viewers, CBS has given freshman daytime talk show The Talk an early renewal for next season. With the exception of Marissa Jaret Winokur, who recently left the show, the other hosts, Julie Chen, the show’s creator Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini, are staying put. The show examines topical events and contemporary issues through the eyes of the hosts who are all mothers. “After only a few months on the air, The Talk has delivered creative and ratings growth and established a strong profile in daytime,” said CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler. That beats the alternative, spelled out in a video message by CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves to his wife Chen played on the show’s premiere episode: “If it doesn’t work, I’ll cancel you.”

Blech. Terrible show. Where is the innovation, the fresh and new, CBS?
I’m your demo for this show and I cannot stomach the blather.
Obviously a vanity project.
I don’t care what Les put on that video he wasn’t pulling his wife from the air. This show is unwatchable and poorly produced with zero chemistry at the table.
I like it. Even though the interviews can be awkward, I prefer these ladies to the catfights on “The View” any day.
I’m an afternoon TV watcher. I was more than skeptical about “The Talk”. Even with the awkwardness at times of being a new group of talkers put together, I think it is a great addition to daytime. I know it is cheaper than a soap opera and that was THE issue. I think when they find their groove they will be around for a long time, much to my surprise.

Can anyone tell me why they got rid of the only non-celeb? What was wrong with her?
This show, yes I admit was awful when it launched but in the last few weeks I think its found its footing. I never watched in the fall, I only did watch the first few in October but when I came across it again in the new year I was pleasantly surprised. These ladies are fresh, unique and you can tell they actually like one another. I was an avid ‘View’ fan but that show has lost its way. Its to deep, too emotionally charged and even though I like Whoopi Goldberg..I do not like her on the View. She’s way too big headed for my taste.
Anyways congrats ladies!
Count me among those who thought The Talk would have to be pulling in numbers that would only look good for an infomercial at 3 am on the Hallmark Channel for Les to cancel his wife’s show.
This is no huge shock even if they are hoping no one notices they waited for the competition to be in the January doldrums in order to have an excuse to do it (watch that surge disappear in February).
Of course the show got renewed. Moonves has his wife hosting the show. How long has big brother been on the air? And that shit is un-effing-watchable!
Hope she’s still forthcoming in the bedroom Les!
Why is Marisa Jaret Winokur gone? She was the only one with any pep or personality.
This show isnt smart enough to be on the air, the conversation is clunky and vague -
so boring and embarrassing to watch
Les marry me so i can get some shows on the air
Horrible decision! This show is awful. The ladies have no chemistry whatsoever, and this whole “view through the eyes of mother” tag line is such a crock! There is no difference between this show’s view point as there is on The View. Except on The View the ladies can actually carry on a conversation and not sound like a bunch of elementary school kids. And I agree with the one comment from earlier, that the show is poorly produced. It’s so cheesy and fake looking. What a waste of time and money from a network.
Not surprised at “The Talk”‘s success. It’s a younger version of “The View” aimed at moms. Who is home watching tv at that time? Young moms. It’s only done better since it started airing and it’s trouncing what they had on before it. CBS is the dominant network because it sees a need and fills it competently. Renewing it has nothing to do with Moonves’ wife hosting it.
not surprised this show got renewed for cbs proably figured that there is room for another version of the view told by differant age of ladies/ that and do not think Moven wants to wind up firing his own wife.
i’d rather see a new soap opera
I’m very sorry to hear this show is doing well.
This show is fantastic. I dvr it every day so i can watch it when i get home. It’s so much better than The View it’s insane. Plus Leah, Holly and Sara are hysterical. Love the chemistry. Sharon’s great as well — and while it could do without Julie, we all know she’s not leaving.
….any chance we can get this in jolly olde England so that I can give an accurate critique ??
It has to be better than our daytime selections of house/antique hunting/cooking true life drivel..oh and that Dick van Dyke doctor detective thingy that we get EVERY DAY !!…and don’t start me on “Murder she wrote”….
The WORST PRODUCED show on TV – seriously, it is like amateur hour -too bad, some of the hosts are decent, but I’d rather watch the commercials.
not renewing leah’s and holly’s contract was a big mistake. I don’t like watching the show anymore.h
I love this show. It is real. AND I think the ladies and their guests are very entertaining and REAL.
But I do like Leah and love Holly so they should stay.
On day 1 of season 2, I stopped watching The Talk because Leah and Holly are gone. Letting them go makes no sense. Leah was out of control at times but she gave life and passion to The Talk. Holly added class to The Talk. I wish Oprah would create a talk show for Leah and Holly to host. They definitely have the necessary chemistry. Holly was such a great host when she filled in. Both ladies can do a proper interview with a guest. Neither of them had to be bleeped the way Sharon had to be. I wish them both the very best.
This show is ridiculous its a knock off of “the view” I prefer the view over this show especially w/the “new” cohosts… I def stopped watching it after Leah&Holly left epic fail Julie Chen just wants to b the center of attention… Just a thought
