EXCLUSIVE: Edgar Ramirez has been offered the role of Ares, the God of War, in the sequel Wrath of the Titans, which Jonathan Liebesman will direct for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. I’m told he’s on the verge of making a deal to star opposite Sam Worthington. Ramirez got Golden Globes and SAG Award nominations for his breakout performance as terrorist Carlos the Jackal in the five and one-half hour Olivier Assayas-directed biopic Carlos. Unfortunately, Ramirez won’t be in Oscar contention, the film deemed ineligible because it aired on the Sundance Channel before it was released in theaters by IFC. The Venezuelan actor also played a memorable assassin in The Bourne Ultimatum. He’s repped by WME and Impression Entertainment.

He is an awesome Actor. I also saw him at The Walt Disney Concert Hall with Helen Hunte and Gustavo Dudamel for the show “La Cantata Criolla” and he can perfectly act in different languages!

This guy is solid in everything he is in. Always. It’s odd to me that he’s just getting that extra attention now, after so many years of hard work.
IMO, with all the serious work he’s done, if the studios want to throw him a bone, they should’ve offered him the title role in Conan, which wouldve recreated a great dynamic action hero. He couldve added something new to that franchise. Something other than schlock fest that film will be and schlock fest that Clash Of The Titans 2 might become.
Robert, the Criterion Collection is hinting that they will be releasing the 5.5 hour cut of “Carlos” later on this year. That’s your best bet for getting a copy of the film.
Edgar has been neglected by his agency for ages. He’s an astounding actor and has been under the radar for far too long. So glad he’s finally getting the recognition and work he deserves.
Carlos is on DVD, if that’s what you’re asking. And Edgar is all that and then some, plus a very nice guy.
FYI – CARLOS is being re-aired in its entirety on Sundance Channel this Saturday 01/15 at 8pm.
He is a great actor, with no strong agency; I think it better for him don’t take it, he deserve better; but he is smart guy, speak different languages, he has a university degrees, works with UNESCO before,very humanitarian boy,he knows, what is the best for him
