EXCLUSIVE: Heroes, Alias and Felicity alum Greg Grunberg is heading to cable as the lead of A&E’s hourlong pilot Big Mike. In the project, co-produced by Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV, Grunberg will play the title character, a plus-sized detective and a force of nature in the San Diego PD. One of the best in his field, he gets things done, knows all the right people, gets along with everyone, and knows all the best places to eat. His greatest challenge in his romantic life. I hear Grunberg’s casting lifts the contingency on the pilot despite the fact that Grunberg is formally in second position to NBC’s Love Bites. He was upped to a regular on the NBC anthology dramedy after a memorable guest stint in the pilot. But the series, once scheduled for a fall launch in the Thursday 10 PM slot is yet to get a premiere date and its order has been cut from 13 to 9. There Is Something About Mary co-writers Ed Decter and John Strauss wrote Big Mike and are exec producing with Doug Robinson.
Meanwhile, Camille Guaty (Vegas) has joined the cast of another hourlong cable pilot, USA’s Eden. The project, from Universal Cable Prods., was written by Ken and Mary Hanes, with Jace Alexander directing. It centers on a young hotel worker (Nick D’Agosto) who, with the help of his escaped con artist cousin (Enver Gjokaj), gets a job as the concierge at an elite NYC hotel. Together they manage to provide the hotel guests with whatever they desire, at whatever the cost. Guaty will play a strong-willed, hard-working single mother who’s carved out a career in real estate support her five-year-old son. Guaty, repped by APA and Impression, next recurs on Shawn Ryan’s midseason cop drama for Fox The Chicago Code where she plays star Jason Clarke’s fiancee.

So Love Bites is finally dead, although no one’s gonna admit it.
Awesome. Can’t Wait. Loved ‘em in HEROES!
Can’t wait! I love your image man! Keep it up!
Grunberg is a solid actor. Good guy. This is good to see
Greg is one of the good guys. Nice to see him get the headliner spot.
Greg Grunberg is one of my fave actors ever. He is funny, handsome, and I loved him in Heroes, and Alias. Good to have you back on t.v.
Finally, Grunberg gets a role where he’s supposed to be fat. No more of that yo-yo dieting.
Greg’s a good man and a good actor. Fingers crossed this is a hit.
He’s really let himself go since his days on Alias! He used to be kind of good looking, and now he’s a fattie. It’s sad to see people eat themselves into being unattractive.
Yes! It’s about time someone gave Enver Gjokaj a leading role. He was brilliant in Dollhouse!
Grunny is a solid guy and one of the best actors to work with. He’ll be perfect in this role. And Pluto, your an idiot!
I worked on the set as a extra yesterday, the show is going to be amazing it has great comedy and action. Everyone on the set was cool but Greg was the coolest guy ever. Did you know he also has a app out called Yowza check it out.
Grunny, Barcly, Strauss, Decter, Robinson = HIT SHOW
wheelman why does it all add up to hit for the public yet A&E does not see it that way? Barclay Emmy award winning director, Decter and Strauss genious writers, Robninson lead at HAppy Madison, Grunberg has huge following as well as waist line that made for a great concept. A&E you dropped the ball on this one. Keeping running your no name shows and pickup up the pyskic western how riduclous. Your best bet was right in front of you with BIG MIKE hope USA or TNT picks it up and u look like an ass!
Just saw the “Eden” pilot aired as a late night filler. It was quick-paced and smart enough to catch my 20-yr old son’t attention. Not as original a storyline as USA generally offers, but same solid writing with personality and humor. We are disappointed the series was not picked up.
