Nikki, please report back on this event! Ed was a great man and I’m sure many of us would like to know what was said about him. He is missed…

very cool caricature.
Was it done before or after Al Hirschfeld died?

That was the most incredible events. A true celebration of a man who lived the hollywood dream. Well done WME. Ed would have been proud of the speeches and performances.

I went to this and was amazed. A very well organized event. The speakers included Mel Gibson, Denzel Washington, Michelle Pfeiffer, Richard Gere and a song from Elton John. It seem Mel did himself a lot of favors: his speech was very funny, self-deprecating. He told us how he had learned a lot from Ed, for example “phone manner”. He waited for the laugh and it came. He concluded by telling us how Ed used to say to him “Just because I die, it doesn’t mean you can go out and get another agent!”. Then Mel told us he didn’t think that was going to be a problem! All in all, the evening made us feel that there is some nobility to what we all do; but sadly it might be dying with the likes of the great Ed Limato.
I loved Ed. He was always very kind to me. It was just easy dealing with him, I found. And, yes, he would have been very pleased with last night.

Here’s a detailed rundown of the evening from former Limato Story Editor Chris Lockhart.
