Glee co-creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy and fellow exec producer Dante Di Loreto have signed on to executive produce Oxygen’s reality competition series, The Glee Project, whose prize is a seven-episode guest starring role on the third season of Glee on Fox. The 10-episode Glee Project, which stems from Oxygen’s off-network syndication deal for the hit Fox musical dramedy, is also executive produced by Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio of Embassy Row. It premieres in June.
Also at TCA, Oxygen announced it is developing 2 new reality series:
Love Scouts, produced by Target Entertainment, features a sexy entrepreneur who helps twenty-somethings find love in Hollywood.
Dance Complex, a docu-series produced by Studio Lambert, offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of the hottest dance studios in LA and the dancers and choreographers that inhabit that unique world. The two join the previously announced Best Ink, a competition series showcasing the most talented tattoo artists.

Glee overkill. Instead of focussing on good story-writing which the series lacks, they’re churning out crap like this which will probably damage the show even more. How Ryan Murphy can be the creator and mastermind behind Glee, is beyond me. In interviews he always gives the impression of being absolutely unfunny and bone-dry, without having any sense of passion for his project. Maybe it’s all just a huge marketing ploy for him.
Now we know Murphy’s price. Sad
More fresh “talent” for Murphy to exploit…
Lock up your sons, America.
I have to agree with John’s comment. What is Ryan Murphy doing? First off, selling syndication to Oxygen– home of the jerry springer-esque “Bad Girls Club” and “Snapped”, was a stellar first step for the Glee brand. This season, with it’s themed shows wrapped around distracting guest stars, has taken this show completely off the rails. The introduction of Beiste, Brittney, and Kurt’s storyline, are the only marginally compelling things happening now. And it’s all character and story development. Hello?! Once again, after doing it with Nip/Tuck, Murphy is imploding. There’s a difference between being creative and being smart. Coming up with a novel idea is one thing; having the right team in place to sustain it and guide it is quite another. Get it together Ryan, back to basics.
Follow the money.
Heard that studio lambet project was very well done!
Can’t wait to see LOVE SCOUTS! I saw the presentation tape…it’s going to be the next big show for the network!
What’s Ryan Murphy doing? Well, I don’t know if it was up to him, but it had been reported that the Reality idea was pitched to FOX and they passed on the option, so Oxygen picked it up with FOX’a approval
