Samuel Goldwyn Films bought U.S. rights on the Roland Joffe-directed There Be Dragons, a Spain-set drama that stars Wes Bentley, Charlie Cox, Olga Kurylenko, Derek Jacobi and Dougray Scott. The film will be released May 6. Scott plays a journalist who tries to unravel a mystery that links his father to the founder of Opus Dei.

My bet is that “There Be Dragons” will prove to be a “must see”. From the reviews I have read it will be astonishingly refreshing. Let’s support truth, beauty and goodness and help to turn the tide away from darkness, pessimism and self centerdness.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen the movie, and it isn’t what it could have been.
At least now with a distributor and an acceptable poster this problematic project has escaped the “straight to DVD release from Ignatius Press” route it seemed it would take…
The film apparently is truly bad. Shot two years ago. Endless recuts and reshoots. This has to be a rent-a-distributor situation.
