RELATED: More ‘LOLA’ Shakeup – Skeet Ulrich Out Too

EXCLUSIVE: The ADAs on NBC’s Law & Order: Los Angeles will be without assistance for now. As part of a creative overhaul of the Law & Order spinoff, co-stars Regina Hall and Megan Boone are departing the series. Hall plays ADA Evelyn Price, who works for ADA Morales (Alfred Molina); Boone plays DDA Lauren Stanton, who works under Joe Dekker (Terrence Howard). Boone is exiting completely, while Hall may return for a couple of episodes. The departures follow the early exit of series regular Wanda de Jesus who left in early September, before LOLA had premiered. I hear LOLA‘s casting director has been reading actresses for a potential new female ADA role on the show, which is now filming episode 12 and is returning with originals next month. NBC and Wolf Films have been discussing tweaks to LOLA since its launch, with conversations still underway. After a solid debut, the series has been middling in the ratings and has drawn some criticism from die-hard Law & Order fans. But it has been the highest-rated new NBC drama this fall, averaging a 3.0 demo rating.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

If NBC wasn’t desperate this one would’ve been canned. Not enough early planning and just like Criminal Intent.
3.0 demo rating my arse. please don’t misinform.
Nooo, not Regina!
The legal part of the show is the best part. It’s the cops that drag the show down. It’s a chore to get to the legal part. Hopefully, Balcer and company figured out that part of the show during the winter break.
Why won’t Law and Order LA just curl up and die? If this is the highest rated new drama, SOMETHING IS WRONG! Oh wait, it’s NBC.
You are so right. It is NBC I really don’t know who they are hiring in the positions of the people deciding who plays in what programs. I do believe you must be stupid to qualify. Take off some of the reality shows and replace them with some of the shows that you have canned. I really like Jimmy Smit they canned his show. No one ask us anyhow.
I love Regina Hall! This will sound like I’m joking, but I’m not – she is amazing in Scary Movie 3. Hilarious.
Why is it whenever a crime show isn’t working they replace the women?
Excellent point. Parker/Spitzer is bombing on CNN, so they’re pondering replacing one of the co-hosts. Guess which one? (hint, it’s not the philandering, prostitute-patronizing ex-governor.)
Most unfair, considering that nobody wanted to see either of them in the first place.
I really like boone shes cute and has good chemistry with skeet. Also like the mentor/ apprentice dynamic she has with terence.
I liked Regina Hall on the series. But Megan Boone reminded me too much of Erika Christensen and Julia Stiles.
They really need to re-cast Terrence Howard’s role though. I’ve liked him in movies, but in this show, it’s painful to see him onscreen. Something about the way he’s delivering the lines makes it cringeworthy.
God he’s awful. In the movies, too. Overrated self-important jerk. Its real hard to play a pimp.
Thank god, I thought it was just me. I also love TH but not in this show.
it’s as if it physically pains him to say every line. like he’s about to burst into tears or something. weird.
I sooo agree. Have enjoyed Terrence Howard in other films but he doesn’t fit this role. Would prefer to see someone a little older for starters.
That’s too bad. Regina Hall surprised the heck out of me on this show.
The actresses are not the problem with this show. They have great actors on there and yet it’s like watching paint dry.
Why do they think replacing the women solves boring writing? It’s not their fault and the ratings are not going to magically rise on a show that viewers either watch now or they don’t, simply because they swap out the female talent. People have sampled it already and stayed with it or not, and this switch can’t undo what they saw when they first sampled the show.
Someone really needs to do an expose on the way Dick Wolf treats his female cast members. I don’t mean him replacing them left and right on his various shows but the actual reason why all those talented women have jumped ship. It’s been going on for decades now.
Just ask Diane Neal about being treated abysmally. First, they make her begin bleaching her reddish brown locks at the end of the fifth season of SVU, to go totally wash out blonde by the end of the sixth. This was to make her look more like Wolf’s pet Stephanie March. So until the eigth season we had bleached out Casey Novak. Come the middle of season eight we got Diane finally able to go more strawberry blonde that flattered her complexion more. For the rest of season 8 to the writer’s strike, Diane and Casey are finally emerging out from under the Mariska/Olivia shadow then bang, it’s announced that Diane Neal has decided to leave. However, on her Twitter account, Diane says she didn’t want to leave and she was fired. She also stated, “I always felt I was just a stand in until Stephanie March came back.” Disgusting behaviour on Wolf’s behalf. And look at how he wrote off both Elisabeth Rhom’s Serena and Annie Parisse’s Borgia. You can always tell when Wolf doesn’t like his female characters. He sends them off in an ignoble way.
Chris, Terrence Howard is awful onscreen because he insists on talking in a breathy little girl voice which worked for Marilyn Monroe but just sounds frightening come out of the mouth of a middle-aged black man trying to play it tough.
You’re absolutely right. It’s that breathy voice which is driving me nuts! He must think that talking that comes across as being realistic or or serious or understated, but it just reeks of a self-important actor trying to impress everyone as a dramatic actor. No matter who he’s in the scene with, it’s like he’s in a totally different show . . . a show I don’t want to be watching.
I agree I agree about TH voice. Don’t like his delivery. Looks great–sounds awful. I do like the show tho
It’s not the acting. Well maybe Terrance Howard overacts a bit. But I have no question that it is the writing. Not as sharp as the original Law and Order
The only ideal they have for a “creative overhaul” of the series is to get rid of a couple minor characters? The two assistants are usually just there so the ADAs have someone to talk to. The show is going to need to do a lot more than that if they want to get more people to watch it.
So….will they be bringing back Jack McCoy?!
The Law & Order shows: SVU CI and the original L & O all had one thing in common—–the opening scenes drew you in!!! I wanted to see what happened next!!!
Opening scenes—I’ve only watched 2 of the Law & Order: Los Angeles–don’t seem to have that pull!!! When the police came, for me, it was HO – HUM!!! The actors did not seem to have the appeal the other L & O’s just seemed to bring to the scene naturally. It was like they were cardboard images of the officers they portrayed! Maybe some one else can describe it better. All I can say—The draw isn’t there!!!
Were the writers kids who hang out at Starbucks with their laptops? Horrid writing.
skeet ulrich is also being replaced, I don’t understand replacing the best actor on the show, even if you want to take it in another direction. The only direction now is down.
I can’t believe Skeet Ulrich is out! I just love him, and he’s the reason I even started watching LOLA. Unbelievable! I won’t watch it anymore.
I can’t believe they’re already shaking up LOLA. Personally, I love the show as it is. It reminded me of the old SVU days when I actually looked forward to watching it. These days, SVU pretty much blows and is stale as hell. Can’t believe Skeet left too, he was awesome. They might as well just cancel it now.
