BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films will release the thriller The Big Bang, directed by Tony Krantz and starring Antonio Banderas. Under the terms of the agreement, Anchor Bay Films acquires all distribution rights in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand. The company anticipates releasing The Big Bang in the second quarter of 2011. The announcement was made today by Anchor Bay Entertainment president Bill Clark.
“Anchor Bay Films has been building a solid slate for 2011 and we’re very pleased to be adding The Big Bang to our line-up,” commented Clark.

In addition to Banderas, the film also stars William Fichtner (Blades of Glory, Crash), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Eragon) Bill Duke (Hoodlum), James Van Der Beek (The Rules of Attraction), Sam Elliott (Thank You for Smoking,Tombstone), and Delroy Lindo (Gone in 60 Seconds, Get Shorty) and features Snoop Dogg. Rionda Del Castro also produced the film along with Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures, and Erik Jendresen, from an original screenplay by Jendresen. Executive Producers are Patricia Eberle, Gary Howsam, Lewin Webb, Richard Salvatore and Ross Dinerstein.
Financing for The Big Bang was arranged by Richard Rionda Del Castro and Gary Howsam, with the support of Standard Chartered Bank, Hannibal Pictures, Rollercoaster Entertainment, Blue Rider Pictures and North By Northwest Entertainment.
Banderas, known for such hits as Desperado and the Zorro and Spy Kids franchises, was last seen in Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger. His busy slate of films includes the upcoming The Skin That I Inhabit, directed by Pedro Almodovar, Haywire, directed by Steven Soderbergh, and Black Gold, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. Director Tony Krantz’s work as a producer in both television and film includes such notable hits as “24,” “Felicity,” “Sports Night,” and David Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive.”
Richard Rionda Del Castro most recently supported financing and executive produced the late George Hickenlooper’s Casino Jack starring two-time Academy Award™ winner Kevin Spacey, and executive produced the upcoming The Son of No One, directed by Dito Montiel and starring Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, Ray Liotta and Juliette Binoche. He also executive produced the upcoming inspirational family film Touchback, starring Brian Presley and Kurt Russell, and is executive producing the action film Setup, which recently completed shooting in Michigan, starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe.
The deal for The Big Bang was negotiated by Richard Rionda Del Castro and WME’s Graham Taylor with Bill Clark, Kevin Kasha and Richard Turner for Anchor Bay Films.
