Great, we get to watch more of Buddy and his crew insulting people. Since when did this become “must see” television? I think he’s a talented guy, but the approach he takes with these bakers is sad. “Get outta my sight,” he said to one. Since when does baking pastries entitle you to trample on folks? And it’s not merely a “New York” vibe. I’m a New Yorker myself. I’ll never forget the episode of “Cake Boss” [the other show] when he and his family went on vacation to Italy and he got insulted when his family loved the restaurant’s pizza. He demanded to be allowed to bake his own pizza in the restaurant’s kitchen to prove his was superior. All that to say, this is the vibe TLC is encouraging? This is “The Learning Channel”? What are we supposed to be learning? Hubris? That ethical treatment of human beings is passe? Again, he’s talented, but his vibe is rotten.
hes from North jersey not new york btw get it right
Are you for real? His shows have an extremely light-hearted tone. Enough hate…
I love Buddy and his more than abnormal approach to the entire baking universe. I didn’t miss an episode last season and I don’t intend to this season either. I travel a lot so watching ongoing shows is rather a passing thought rather than a comfortable evening of entertainment. I have however despite the obstacles obtained a little gadget to help me with this problem so that I will be laughing and snorting at the vial Valastro. Because I work for Dish, I got a Sling Adapter when they came out and figured it would give me the tool needed to keep up on my bodacious Buddy. I always have my iPad on trips so when I’m ready to enjoy night of brutal bakery I can watch it anywhere I please. This new technology is pretty cool for those that need to be up to date on current character obsessions. I personally have my addictions and the reprieve of this amusing show has put a smile on my face.
Buddy Valesco is obnoxious and I’m surprised the health department hasn’t closed his bakery down. The loose hair the females have, the nail polish, the nonexistent gloves they SHOULD be wearing for the food prep they do… I wouldn’t eat food from his kitchen if they paid me to.
It’s true the girls should be wearing hairnets and gloves but Buddy Valastro is a very talented man,his cakes are phenomional and his crew does a fantastic job so don’t offend him because he judges them to harshly.
Yes I agree with the lack of gloves, hair nets, and hand washing, but I do realize the things we don’t see during commercials. My question is how are these things delivered with no protection what so ever. God knows as children we put all kinds of things in our mouth, and probably ate plenty of dirt. This is more curiosity than anything. I enjoy the show, constructive critisism never hurt anyone, in business especially when it depends on the public liking your product, passion plays a big role in how the boss reacts, its all for the good and health of the business. You go Buddy, congrats on the new arrival, and your other opportunities. I look forward to the next season. Also congrats to all that participated, especially Dana, Megan, Corina!
I watched the entire season of Next Great Baker and was extremely disappointe in the finale. Meagan listened to her client, made chocolate cake (as they stated a preference for), made a better cake (even Buddy said he didn’t care for Dana’s tasting cake), and the client preferred Meagan’s cake to Dana’s. Yet, Buddy chose Dana. It was clear the final few episodes Dana was who he was going to choose no matter what. I understand it is business and you choose someone you want to work with, but in a show format, it should be fair. When Buddy said “not your best cake so far”, that sealed the deal he was keeping him and would be seeing more of his cakes. I am one viewer who won’t be watching next season.
I agree with Rachel. Dana didn’t listen to the client. She was very specific on chocolate cake. It’s funny how Buddy paid attention to every detail on the previous episodes and let this major one go by. Dana also copped out by adding pictures on rice paper (beginners stuff) to his cake where Meagan’s scenes were all done by hand. It was blatant that Meagan didn’t fit in with the old boys club at the bakery. What a chauvinist.
I agree, what a disapointment. Megan had the best tasting cake and the cake the client preferred, yet she lost?
I got chosen to come on stage by BUDDY at the Moore Theater in Seattle, Nov. 20th 2010! I watch all his shows and Love everyone of them! To actually meet him was a real experiance! Have had a lot of people ask me how he was “in real Life”! I said he was a very nice person and very nice to be with on stage! He was the nicest person i have met in a long time, and to have this chance, is something i will never forget! You can see on his shows, HE expects perfection, cause HIS “name” is on each product, and they have to do it perfectly!! I decorate cakes, and someone messes up one of my cakes, it does up set me a bit, cause i don’t do my cakes unprofessionally, and they need to be perfect! Iunderstand where Buddy comes from with perfect products, and need to be done just right! You have to be in this type of business to understand this, and don’t undermind how BUDDY does his job, and how he expects to have it done! He has his way, and that is His way..After all, HE’S THE BOSS!
Why is Dana not on Cake Boss? I thought that when someone won they got 50K a car and a job at Carlos??
He’s on there the new season just started if you watch mondays at 9 you will see him
The winner was chosen based on a combination of all the challenges during the entire season, not just the last challenge. Dana did not have the most impressive cake every week, but he was consistently strong. I think him winning the “day in the life of Buddy” challenge was a big reason why Buddy chose him
I gotta agree the Cake Boss workers don’t seem follow proper food handling rules.
What’s next a Buddy “Poppy Piza”?
We have enjoyed Cake Boss since the beginning. Buddy is very talented, however, in this new show “Next Great Baker” Buddy is absolutely obnoxious and treats these contestants like he is far superior than anyone else. The throwing of cakes on the floor, smashing them in a parking lot, etc is not an enjoyable show to watch. Can’t stand his attitude. On this show he turns into a bas….
I want to say how disappointed I was in the show”The Next Great Baker”.Greta-Ann should not have made it to the final round. She hid cookie sheets to slow down the other bakers and turned up the temperature on the others’ ovens. It resulted in burned cookies for Jenny, and perhaps reduced the amount of goods she had to sell, and therefore she lost out to Greta-Ann. Since when does cheating make you a better baker? It’s about the baking, I thought. Some of the staff were unhappy about Ashley’s outburst, but not a thing was said about the nastay tricks of Greta-Ann.That may have been the reason Ashley lost her cool. For Paul to bring up her age seemed to be a slap in the face. Again what does age have to do with baking. She did the job, didn’t she? Her cake certainly beat Greta=Ann’s in my estimation. There is enough meanness on TV in the reality shows and such as American Idol. Please keep it out of the TLC channel. Buddy, is this what you want to teach your children? I hope Buddy chose Ashley because she did a better job and maybe because of the cheating. If he did, though, he should have said so. Let people know that undercutting others doesn’t belong in a bakery anymore than outbursts and tempers. However, I have seen wild outbursts in Buddy’s bakery from members of his own family.Ask yourself,”Would Greta-Ann sabotage others’ cakes while working in the bakery to make herself look like she had more skills. Sorry, but Greta-Ann used every trick in the book, including her sob stories to win. It would have been better for her to use her cake-decorating skills instead.
I was extremly sadden that Jen lost out to Greta-Ann. All through the competition she played dirty, saying after all it is a competition. I have throughout my life time, competed in sports and if anyone were to pull the stunts she pulled they would have been off the team. She is a mean spirited women and got what she deserved. I am dissapointed in Buddy that he allowed her behavior for better TV ratings. Mean girls have no place in my life. Jen you should have won! This is the last next great baker I will watch as well as Cake Boss, seems fame and fortune changes folks.
