In her first TV series gig since the end of Ugly Betty, the ABC dramedy’s star America Ferrera is set to do an arc on CBS’ legal drama The Good Wife, TVLine reports. The WME-repped actress will play Natalie, a graduate student in whom Eli (Alan Cumming) develops a romantic interest. “We’ve been watching and loving America for years now on Ugly Betty, and it’ll be fantastic to see her take on a completely different role: especially one that puts her across from Alan Cumming,” Good Wife creator-executive producer Robert King said.
Meanwhile, Ashley Johnson has joined the cast of AMC’s new drama series The Killing as a recurring. The Killing is a murder mystery that centers on Sarah (Mireille Enos), the lead homicide detective that investigates the murder of a young girl. Johnson will play the wife of suspect Bennet Ahmed (Brandon Jay McLaren) who, sandbagged when Sarah (Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) show up at her apartment unannounced, tells a revealing story from Ahmed’s past. The series premieres on Apr. 3. Johnson, repped by TelentWorks and Anonymous Content, will next be seen in the feature The Help.

I love America Ferrera, but The Good Wife is getting like True Blood and adding too many characters.
Love both of these ladies. Good for them!
THE GOOD WIFE is a fantastic show and UGLY BETTY was one of my favorites. Can’t wait for this. Great news.
I always loved Ugly Betty in fact I stll watch it on Hulu. America is a wonderful Actress and will surely add talent to the show.
Ashley has been a great friend of mine since she was on Growing Pains, so I am so happy to see she is getting some recognition on “The Killing” and featured in the film “The Help” Ashley is an amazing talent and she is getting noticed more and more!
