Los Angeles….Today outgoing President of Women In Film, Jane Fleming announced that Academy Award winning producer, Cathy Schulman, has been elected the new President, with her three-year term beginning officially on January 1, 2011.
“I am thrilled to announce that Cathy Schulman will take over as the next President of Women In Film,” says Fleming. “I can think of no one better to take the reins of Women In Film as the organization grows in scope and impact to meet the challenges of the 21st century. She is a proven leader, producer and visionary as well as a committed teacher, philanthropist and mentor. Moreover, her production experience in film and television, both scripted and documentary, gives her a unique insight into the diverse needs of the women the organization serves. I have no doubt that Cathy and this extraordinary new group of Board members will take Women In Film to great heights. I look forward to working by their side to implement Cathy’s mandate.”
“I am excited to follow in the footsteps of the wonderful Jane Fleming and the other great women who have acted as President of Women In Film,” says Schulman. “We have assembled a tremendous Board, and we must continue to define our mandate so that the needs of women in entertainment are met. OH PLEASE – woman cant get along…. this is a joke, woman never promote each other – most woman get “sponsored” by the men in this town to get them in and going
Invest in next generation thinking but we must not forget the previous generation. WIF has only to look at the Motion Picture and Television Fund to see what happens when an organization chooses to forget its mission.
Interesting to see that the only two guys on the board look after the money and the computers. Somethings never change.
Which reminds me, my new organisation Men in Film (MIF) which is an equal opportunities employer has two open board positions. Vice President,Footwear and accessories and VP Operations (Medical). The latter post would be most suitable for someone with theatre experience specialising in castration. Please……I’ve been to a number of WIF events here in London and these were the main topics of conversation.
Comments like these illustrate why women need their own organizations. Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to announce the Women’s Auxiliary to Men In Film. Our first bake sale is on Monday.
Invest in next generation thinking but never forget the previous generation that made it all possible.
I have been instructed to apologise for my flippant remarks by the President of our parent body, Women in Film,Europe (WIFE).I do so unreservedly.
I’ve always found WIF to be a curious collection of hucksters, bit players and wannabes…then they put on this big “awards” show once a year. Sort of like the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but different. Never really sure what their “mandate” has been…and most of their local events during the year feel more like a weird Moroccan bazaar than a real professional network.
Today is a disappointing day for the Women in Film Organization. Cathy is a sycophant of the worst kind. Her entire career has been built on lies, deception, and frivolous lawsuits. She uses politics to back stabbingly take other women down, not empower them. I thought WIF was about helping other women break the glass ceiling in a male dominated industry? I feel bad for all the new members of the organziation. You’ll now have to deal with Cathy’s deception and politics on a regular basis – good luck.
name ONE woman who has done it on HER own?
if they married Directors or Studio heads, or hooked up with an actor to form fake production companies while having boob jobs, that isnt on their own.
sex helps get you in- go ladies!!!
They cant even sit in the same room without looking at hair, clothes and the wrinkles of their so called friends- they all gossip and can NEVER put the production first…
