Sunday’s BAFTA awards — the British equivalent to America’s Oscars — will determine which film is ahead in the UK once and for all. But it’s still a virtual dead heat here between The King’s Speech with 3 honors and The Social Network with 4 even bigger honors at the 31st London Film Critics Circle Awards. The Social Network won Film of the Year; Director of the Year for David Fincher; Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Andrew Garfield; and Screenwriter of the Year for Aaron Sorkin. Colin Firth, who accepted his award in person, won Best Actor, while The King’s Speech also won British Director of the Year for Tom Hooper as well as British Film of the Year. Deadline will have full BAFTA coverage:

Wow Annette won best actress. So thrilled!
The London Film Critics Awards mean little in the grand scheme of things. The BAFTAs will provide much more insight into how the Oscars will handed out.
Again, it’s the SAGS that are the best predictors.
a well deserved win for the social network ( best film, director, screenplay and supporting actor ) also for annette bening.kudos to london film critics.
Funny they remembered Christian Bale was british
SAGS are best predictors because they are the best followers. And the Academy just follows SAG.
I long for the days of gutsy inspired selections by the voters.
The BAFTA’s mean little in terms of the Oscar race. If every frontrunner looses at the BAFTA’s, they will still be considered the frontrunners Oscar night
Hard to believe THe King’s Speech is not going to win @ BAFTA. That said, I thought it was a well done small movie that could have happily played on HBO. TSN, while not perfect, had so much more electricity to it.
Oh Mike Leigh, always the bridesmaid but never the bride!
