ABC’s flagship series, Dancing with the Stars, will return on Monday, March 21. It will be interesting to see if the absence of star dancer Derek Hough, who is off to do a movie, will impact the reality juggernaut. Unlike American Idol star judge Simon Cowell, Hough is only taking a temporary leave and said he will be back for the fall cycle. The celebrity cast of the spring Dancing will be announced on Feb. 28 during The Bachelor. The show’s bookers have a tough act to follow with last cycle’s buzzworthy cast led by Bristol Palin.

Has this immensely profitable game-show set a date for when their writers can join a union? Get paid overtime? Get health insurance? Get money toward a pension?
The show is union. What are you talking about?
How come only one person gets credit for being a writer and gets to be in the WGA? (And with only one official writer, they were able to continue producing the show during the strike unlike other game shows.)
Has that changed?
Nothing has changed. The show has been WGA/DGA from day 1.
One WGA writes the show.
During the strike the producers provided the scripts based on the show format and previous scripts and the hosts did more ad-libbed material. Executive Producers who are non-WGA members are not prevented from providing written material during a strike.
I expect people who have long been put off by Derek Hough’s antics and attitude will come back for this season. He really is a turn off. Plus the show is clearly rigged when they give the best choreographer the best celeb and the best music and the best everything every single time. The moment the pro partners are announced, you pretty much know who’s going to win based on whoever gets Derek. Hopefully Derek’s “acting career” will bomb like his equally annoying fraud of a sister Julianne’s did with Burlesque. Sick of seeing Derek draped all over his partners while waiting for scores or results as well. The tweaking twink should show the women some respect instead of being slumped over them like they’re the god damn couch in his living room.
wow thats a harsh comment why not wish them both well, they are both better dancers than I .
Pro wrestler Chris Jericho has lamented for two years that commitments to the WWE had prevented him from accepting an invitation to appear on the show.
Now that he is no longer working fulltime for the promotion, let’s see if he made the cut.
Or if he was simply “working” the media.
I’m sorry Nellie…did you just say “buzzworthy cast led by Bristol Palin”…have you lost your mind?? Last time i checked “buzzworthy” meant worthy of popular attention. Bristol Palin? really?? you can’t be serious.
Oh I couldn’t agree more! Between Palin & The Situation, I boycotted the show! Somebody needs to crack open a dictionary and look up the definition of ‘stars’.
Another 2 seasons of Dancing With The Stars? OUCH!
If the judges keep on letting celebrities win the
trophy that I don’t want to win, they will be short
at least one viewer. I’ll keep watching, though.
There’s bound to be one celebrity couple out there
that both the judges and I can agree on, who won’t
just make it all the way to the finale, but win, too.
I’ve been a lousy 0-in-11 on my Dancing star picks.
I’m thrilled that Derek is working on a movie but i must say that i’ve very sad to see that he won’t be part of the spring cast. Derek hough is really talented. I hope they gave Karina a celebrity that she can actually bring to the finals.
