EXCLUSIVE: Platinum Studios, a producer of the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens, has joined forces with Andrew Lazar and Top Cow Productions to turn the Top Cow comic Vice into a live action feature film. Vice tells the story of hard-core teen felons who join the FBI’s Critical Response Unit as a way to clear their records. Their bad attitudes and formidable powers make them as dangerous as the bad guys they pursue. Top Cow president Matt Hawkins created the comic in 2005. Lazar will produce with Platinum Studios chairman/CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, and Randy Greenberg will be exec producer with Hawkins and Marc Silvestri.

Really?Out of all the Top Cow properties they choose Vice?I’ve never even heard of it and it just so happens to have been created by the Top Cow president.Figures
I’d much rather see Witchblade, The Darkness, Magdalena or Aphrodite IX.
Agreed with Renner on this one… This comic will never see the light of day as a film. Uninspired & boring. Maybe back in the 80s. Lol.
It’s all about summer 2012—
The Avengers
Edge of the Unknown
Prometheus
Pretty sure I read that they’re already working on a “Witchblade” movie, but I could be wrong. Never heard of “Vice” either, but Top Cow seems to do that a lot, that of the heads of the company coming up with something and then handing over an outline to a for-hire writer.
In other words it’s a ripoff of The Mod Squad which was so of its time back in the 60′s. It was updated and turned into a horrible movie in the 90′s. I’m sure Vice will be a big success. (rolls eyes, runs and hides)
I loved Silvestri’s stuff going way back.Haven’t read to much Top Cow recently though.
I think they were doing a Witchblade movie or something.
Oh, yeah! THE MOD SQUAD REDUX – Got it!
This sounds similar to Breakout Kings on AMC. I’ll pass on both.
I liked it when it was called 21 JUMP STREET.
So…it’s The Mod Squad (again)?
No it’s not Mod Squad it’s Vice Squad don’t you see the difference? You people in flyover country just don’t get it.
Actually, this is nothing like Breakout Kings. I work in a (can’t say) and the assistants watched the pilot and we laughed our asses off. VICE sounds serious, BK is a FUN show.
Agree I have kept an eye on all top cow announcements and its always the pilots or long lost comic that get the chance. Are they scared of risking the fan favourite properties. Like darkness etc, witchblade movie was suspended from the looks of things. Unlike marvel there characters are fresh not rebooted
So fun Fox (and every other network save for the home of THE CLEANER) passed on it…
this IP scam has been going on for awhile. let’s pretend there is actually a graphic novel fan base for an idea by printing a limited edition (or even just doing a few storyboards) and then go to an exec or producer who wants to be hip and hasn’t read a comic book since he was 12 sometime in the mid-80s. there are more or less sophisticated ways of pulling this one off but the idea that somehow the next spiderman or even the next history of violence is lurking somewhere in the vast IP warehouses of these platinum-style companies is… a bit of a crap shoot.
Ugh, this sounds terrible. Would rather see the feature version of Mr. Belvedere.
I want to know why all the poster shows people who look like 40 year olds if they’re supposed to be teens. I’d also like to know who the artist who used the cheesy looking bad guys from Death Wish 4 to use as models. I mean when is the last time someone saw a tough guy on the streets sporting a headband? What is this, like 1984?
