EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have set the Blades of Glory team of Will Speck & Josh Gordon to direct The Pool. The comedy is about a middle-class college graduate who jumps into the job market at the worst possible time, and the only gig he gets is teaching swim lessons at a prestigious country club full of beautiful women and their older inattentive husbands. Chernin Co.’s Dylan Clark and Josh McLaughlin are producing.
The comedy is in the vein of Risky Business and The Flamingo Kid. Script was written by Dan Lagana, who just adapted the Jake Wizner novel Spanking Shakespeare for Paramount, and is currently writing an MTV pilot to star Bo Burnham. Speck & Gordon, who also directed The Switch and have Office Christmas Party set up at DreamWorks, are reunited in this deal with Jeremy Kramer, who worked with the duo on Blades of Glory and recently joined Fox as an executive. CAA rep the directors and writer, Management 360 reps Speck & Gordon and Gotham Group Lagana.

Yeah! Let’s hire the guys who directed one of the worst Will Ferrell comedies. Good goin’ Fox. I’m sure they’ll turn in another comedy stinker.
Actually, I enjoyed Blades of Glory. The only problem is that you have to suspend disbelief in regards to that blade stunt. However, that same stunt is a parody of the Quad jump in men’s figure skating since the media puts major attention on that jump. Both are hard to try and complete successfully.
Yes, somebody shoot me. Or better yet, them.
Hard to be jealous but you could be less obvious!
They’ll do what they’re told.
How will this effect The Switch 2?
“The Pool” should bring in more glory. Dive in guys.
Can’t wait to see your next effort.
I wish they’d direct a big-screen version of their “Cavemen” tv show.
Wow, it really is just all comedy gold with these guys!
At a general meeting, Chernin’s development staff emphasized that they were only pursuing
BIG ideas and films. This project sounds funny, but a rather modest idea.
