EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed director Len Wiseman, who is following Live Free Or Die Hard by helming the remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell playing the Arnold Schwarzenegger role for Columbia Pictures. Wiseman launched his feature directing career with Underworld and the sequel Underworld: Evolution, also recently directed the pilot for the hit CBS drama Hawaii 5-0. Wiseman had been repped at ICM, but his primary longtime agent, Nick Reed, exited the agency in 2009.

Is HAWAII 5-0 a “hit”? I thought it was a weakly limping filler starring Good Looking Talent of varying talent…?
Who signed him? Josh L b.c of Colin Farrel?
nip!
ICM’s feature department is fucked. The only stellar thing they bring to the table is their TV department and that’s pretty much the crew that came over from Broder. Below the line and touring are good too, just not as good as the TV dept. Movies though? You might as well retire if you want to be repped by them. That or have the name Sam Jackson.
His agents took that guy from nowhere to directing one of the biggest budgeted projects in town. Ah, grass is always greener. Now, he’ll languish in line at CAA.
Len Wiseman left ICM because his longtime agent Nick Reed left the agency. That’s why Wiseman bolted.
Didn’t Chris Silvermann represent him? Does that guy even have one client?
Silbermann is a TV genius but has no feature cred so he gloms on to his MP agents’ clients. Len was always represented by Nick Reed, who did a great job launching his career with UNDERWORLD. Chris and Broder “star” lit agent Emile tried desperately to save Len, to no avail. Good luck to Len, who will surely be better served at a company with a real feature dept.
I worked with Len recently. Great person, great talent. I am sure this was a smart choice for him.
ICM used to have top notch directors, and it’s really suffered recently. Who runs lit? Nicole Clemens still? Hopefully ICM will get it’s swing back soon. Chris Silberman has his head in the clouds while his house is burning down.
I feel horrible for Emil Gladstone. They all leave him. Why is he still on that sinking ship. And is anyone a bigger joke than Silberman.
ICM MP is absurd….they need to stop hiring rich idiots and become serious about running their business. They are already operating at the mercy of their TV dept, now they had better hope that the Border and Chervin crew doesn’t decide to jump ship.
Here’s hoping Len reconsiders. Love Emile–best guy and great agent. Nobody would or could do better for him or anyone other client.
Len was the only Director they had left that means anything in the studio world. To bad for Emile, a really solid Agent that would probably follow Len if he could. Although, CAA doesn’t really need him now that they took his only major client. He still has some good writers. It’s really sad that ICM has fallen on it’s face again. It was so much better off when it was completely dysfunctional and mean spirited. The good old days when everyone was killing each other. Sue go back and give them another Pep talk. They need it. Who says nice guys finish last, oh that was Ovitz.
Have any of you idiots heard of Tom Hooper ?
Why would the Broder group jump ship? Who would possibly follow Silbermann? The TV group is sensational and has complete autonomy, particularly since Chervin spends most of his time in Hawaii.
Collin Farrell is a has been. I seriously think the movie will flop if they cast him. Find some fresh faces and totally different type from Arnold.
WHY REMAKE A CLASSIC?
“Collin Farrell is a has been. I seriously think the movie will flop if they cast him. Find some fresh faces and totally different type from Arnold.”
Yeah right! Keep telling yourself that you idiot. If you’re going to rip someone who is far richer, far more famous, and far more talented than you’ll ever be, at least get his name right. It’s Colin Farrell dumbass.
As for different type from Arnold, what makes you think think Farrell is anything like Arnold.
“WHY REMAKE A CLASSIC?”
LOL! Total Recall is not a classic in any sense of the word. It’s a cheesy, over the top bit of guilty pleasure. If it was released today, it would get savage. It’s typical B-grade Arnold shlock. Bad dialogue, bad acting, etc.
Listen up! They are not remaking Arnold’s film. They are making a more serious film that is more faithful to Philip K. Dick’s original work. Arnold’s film was not faithful to Dick’s work, as it was only loosely based on the story. The fact is, they are only borrowing the name because it’s a known name. You could argue whether or not they should do that. But I’m interested in seeing a different kind of film. Len Wiseman did a great job on Live Free Or Die Hard, a film I thought would truly suck beyond all imagination. It turned out to be the second best Die Hard film. It also received great critical reception and made far more money than any Die Hard film. So props to Len Wiseman. Even bigger props for being Mr. Beckinsale.
