Fright Night director Craig Gillespie is front runner to direct Pride And Prejudice and Zombies, the Lionsgate adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel. No deal yet, Lionsgate says. Mike White had the job but dropped out because of a scheduling conflict. Before that, David O Russell was the director, but before he left, he wrote a killer script that’s had other directors circling.

What was the reason that O Russell bailed ship? Obviously, White didn’t actually back out of it…anyone know the real reason and not the line that he or his agents are giving? Gillespie…hmmmm looks like the bar is getting lower and lower on this project.
If you know the real story and aren’t an agent looking to spin something, I’d love to know what’s going on behind the curtain on this one!
This director is the least talented man I’ve ever had the displeasure of working near. He’d be perfect to make sure this idiotic script goes nowhere. I kinda love it.
He’s on the record as saying it came down to the budget. He expected about $50M, the studio budgeted it for about $25M (I think, you’ll have to look up the quote for the exact amount). He just explained that he couldn’t do a period horror/action flick on such a shoestring when a standard horror movie costs about that much. All those period sets & costumes don’t come cheap.
yeah. Jane Austen isn’t Saw 4.
Have you read this “killer script”?
I have.
It’s awful. Talking zombies and dumb kung fu.
He’s a very talented director… not.
hmm… all the other directors seem to be bailing out.
Some studio… These guys couldn’t keep a high school play together. Where’s Carl Icahn when you need him?
Bit early on this report, gang. Not solid yet. Then again, you run any fart of a casting or directing gig.
By saying “killer script” you mean “career-killer” right?
If it turns out anything like his overrated comedy commercials it may be like a root canal.
Hey. I am a dentist and that’s insulting to root canals.
