EXCLUSIVE: Paul Walker has signed with UTA, where he’ll be repped by Jim Berkus, Theresa Peters and Chris Hart. Walker spent the last three years at CAA. The move comes as Universal prepares an April 29 release of Fast Five, the fifth installment of The Fast and the Furious series. Walker, who most recently starred in the Screen Gems heist film Takers, continues to be managed by Matt Luber of Luber Roklin Entertainment.

Talented and underrated…
if by talented you mean he’s good looking and can “talk black” without sounding like a white guy trying to sound like he’s talking black (those seem to be his primary talents)…
I think he totally sounds like a white guy trying to talk like a black guy
hmm…you guys might want to get your hearing checked, unless you hang with a lot of black surfers…
Paul Walker needs to take a break from the noisy-buddy-action-franchise-stuff. He’s got the chops to do more interesting films.
no he doesn’t
Good for him.
Hopefully he doesn’t bail back suddenly if FF proves to be a hit.
I still say Paul Walker would have been a wayyyyyyy better Captain America than Chris Evans. I mean look at him. Also loved him in “Running Scared.” Hopefully he’ll get better roles now.
I used to toil in that salt mine known as UTA which always sounded like an airline to me. Perhaps Berkus will do for Walker what he’s done for Harrison Ford, namely turn him into an overpaid supporting player whose paydays are numbered.
How many actors of Harrison Ford’s age are still headlining action tentpoles (INDY 4, COWBOYS & ALIENS)? Do a quick count and get back to me.
Good airline joke though. Do you work on the comedy side nowadays?
Can he just do a series already?
Who is Paul Walker? The question makes me seriously doubt whether you are “inthebiz.” You are, however, probably “intheCAAmailroom.”
Paul Walker should have never left John Carrabino for Matt Luber. That’s like going from flying private to taking the bus or even having no transportation at all.
Says the kid who probably “worksintheCAAmailtoom” – keep drinking the cool aid bro.
Until now Paul has been at every major agency except for UTA and throughout his journey he has continued to have Matt Luber as his manager. Managers who move clients around are a sign of weakness and it is pretty obvious what has happened here.
It’s actually not Matt’s decision, it’s Paul’s. Actors need to take responsibility for their own lives.
Paul should have never left John Carrabino for Matt Luber. Once he did that Paul moved from Paradigm to Endeavor to ICM to CAA and now it is UTA’s turn, Look at Paul’s career and look at Chris Pine’s career. Game-set-match- not even close. John was his manager when he signed on to Fast and Furious. Matt had nothing to do with it. Paul may end up having the last laugh though. He has the goods.
Nothing was happening at CAA. Nothing. A good manager does not act out of fear for his own sake. A good manager, Matt Luber, owns the fact that nothing was happening and makes a tough decision and punches CAA in the mouth. This was the best move a manager could have made for his client. I know Matt Luber and he truly is one of the good ones.
Alert the Academy… Not.
um – the guy’s films have grossed over a billion $ globally… he is almost 38 years old and STILL has a six pack, he’s stayed away from the hollywood temptations and pitfalls throughout his career, and he knows how to say “please” & “thank you”!!! i’ll take paul walker any day over most of the “actors” in the biz!
Dude has made bank. I know for a fact that he made over 7 mil for that 8 Below movie. Probably has a nice peice of the backend on the Fast and Furious movies. Seems to be doing OK. Maybe not first choice for roles going to Chris Pine, but he’s certainly not hurting for money.
ditto on that!
ditto on that sleeplessinsydney!
I know that he caps his manager at 200k a year, but how do you keep changing agents, live in a stalled career, and not look to the only constant in your life, your manager, as maybe part of the problem. 200k aint a lot, but cheaper doesn’t make it worth it.
Walker always seemed to be treated like 2nd string at CAA. Perhaps UTA will bring him up to the starting ranks.
That’s because he IS second string at CAA. Actors need to realize that sometimes it’s much better to be the big fish in a smaller pond.
He’s a modestly talented, good-looking stud — unfortunately they’re a dime a dozen right now. Every second-tier actioner that gets released outside of summer stars one of them.
He should leave CAA — it’s been ten years since the first FATF and he’s still pretty much invisible on directors’ radar.
Paul needs to do some good small Sundance type films use his bankability and get some good smaller stuff made and start growing his talent. He’s actually talented and a gook kid. UTA’s is cool. If all the kid’s done is FF then obviously they where not sending him anything or he just doesn’t read anything without the same size paycheck. Paul, get some good small films made your money won’t run out anytime soon and start loving your craft.
Maybe if his agents had spent as much time in the last three years working on Paul’s career as they have in the last 12 hours posting negative replies to this article, this never would have happened. I have known Matt Luber for over ten years and have found him to be one of the good ones. And for the record,Matt got Paul his first couple of jobs when he worked with John Carrabino. He introduced them. I was there.
And you know this because you do his taxes? Seriously, spreading lies is so seventh grade….
I meant this as a reply to the delightful person who posted that there was a salary cap a few posts up…people have no manners anymore.
paul walker has no range. but that’s never stopped keanu. but the only difference is he’s not been able to find stuff to exploit his limited range.
hmmm. my post hasn’t appeared.
paul walker had a lot of promise. he may still. he just needs the right material. i agree with the person who says he needs to do an indie project. even vin diesel has done this.
Needs to? Why?
Walker should do another RUNNING SCARED. In fact, he should do RUNNING SCARED 2 because that flick got him noticed for chops people didn’t think he had and is probably the only film he gets respect for (deservedly so). He should be out there breaking heads and cursing up a blue streak – and nailing hot chicks like Vera Farmiga – as in real women!
Paul Walker is a good actor. Not a great one. Fast movies don’t show his ability. He has made more than a few misses. I personally think actors like most of us take jobs to get by and hope for a juicy role. Build the bank account. He is getting a little older now and Fast movies won’t click much longer. There are plenty of useless younger actors to cast in these type roles. Let’s face it, it won’t be that much longer before he will be playing the father roles. I hope he gets offered better roles before that happens. Movies really suck lately.
very silly comment. Paul may be pushing 40, but he does not look it. Even if he did, it does not matter. After all Vin D is way past 40 and is still a huge draw for those types of movies. The rock! pushing 40. still huge for that type of film. And do let sly here you say that, he’s 63 and will kick the snot out of you. Age is a number. On the other hand, you can be 20, and look like shit run over twice. So, once agian, age is a number. The sooner peole understand that the better off the business will be. I happen to be 35, and every place I go, people think I am 26-27.
Paul Walker needs to do a few more small films like Running Scarred and the Lazarus Project. They were small low budget films that showed his talent. If he wants to expand beyond the fame he gets from the Fast and the Furious he needs to do this to show directors he is not a one trick pony. Those films show that and doing a few more such films to enforce it wouldn’t hurt his career.
