IFC has greenlit a second season of its original comedy series The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Production on the six-episode order begins in April for an October premiere. The series is created, written by and stars David Cross (Arrested Development) as Todd Margaret, a corporate nobody and pathological liar who bluffs his way into a senior sales position heading up the London office for the new energy drink Thunder Muscle. “Todd Margaret personifies the type of offbeat comedy IFC brings to viewers,” said IFC’s SVP original programming Debbie DeMontreux. Season One, which aired in the fall, featured a roster of stars including Will Arnett and guest stars Janeane Garofalo, Amber Tamblyn and Russ Tamblyn. Todd Margaret is a co-production between IFC and RDF Television, part of Zodiak Media Group in the UK. The series is co-written by Shaun Pye (Extras) and Mark Chappell.

Good God, why?
Yay!
I am a big fan of the show and Will and David, maybe now that Will’s sitcom is done he can focus on this one. I wanna see more from Will though, he should get hiw own sitcom soon, I hope
I love this show and I mean LOVE. It’s comedy we do not need to fall in love with characters as, real people. THIS IS A SHOW! There are people with gaps in their own lives so, they need this stuff to be real. It’s entertainment, that’s all folks!
Just kidding. I heart David Cross.
Generally, I love David Cross, I love Will Arnett and I like the kid from Inbetweeners.
But this is the worst goddamn show. Watched the whole first season hoping it would improve, but it was probably my biggest disappointment last year. The performances are fine but the writing is so, so bad. The characters are just completely inconsistent, the show is not funny, obvious and lame. It’s genuinely one of the worst written shows I’ve ever seen.
Should’ve been canceled so the people involved can move onto something less terrible.
There is absolutely no emotional content to the characters. That works for sketch. It does not work for a 1/2 hour. No one seems slightly real or interesting.
that’s too bad you feel that way. I suggest modern family or tosh.0 for you… Dane Cook? Yeah, Dane cook sounds up your alley.
wow you must have the most boring tastes. watching him dig himself deeper and deeper with his ridiculous lies was hilarious. how could you think this show is that awful? what are you talking about?
I agree. They’re given slack for being great al comics, but, yes, the scripts felt like they were written in a day and they relied on early 90s jokes from that Conan/Adam West pilot like “I need to disguise as a Brit, so I put on a monocle and carry around a cup of tea!”
Written in a day? Come on, what about all the layering of the story? Jokes are jokes I suppose but still, the story seems pretty intriguing.
I’m sad to say that I have to agree that the writing is dire. I love Cross, Arnett and Sharon Horgan (check out ‘Pulling’ the show she starred and wrote) but they all have nothing to work with. It’s a shame because it was dream team casting for me.
I’m sorry, but I couldn’t disagree less- this show is genius. Save the “emotional depth” for Glee.
This show had me at Will Arnett threatening Spike Jonze with, “I will F*** you like Mike Tyson on E”. Can’t wait for season 2.
This is show is about the zinger moments – cause the plot is non-existent. And for those zingers, we’ve got Cross, Arnett & Co. to rely.
Hooray!
Disappointed I have to wait until October.
The genius of the writing is apparent in the season as a whole. You have to pay attention to the subtext throughout the season. It is funny, full of twists, but it supposed to be satirical.
You guys are probably confusing the awkward and painful character of Todd Margaret with the show as a whole.
I personally love David Cross’s comedic style.
The first season was co-written by Shaun Pye and David Cross. Mark Chappell had nothing to do with it. I guess Cross will return as a writer.
Love David Cross but that show is laugh-free.
Cross’ deaf person act in the final episode was hilarious! The show has a lot of laughs. Watch it again!
when’s season 1 out on DVD???
I really wanted to like the show because I like David Cross and Will Arnett, but I could not get into it.
This is the funniest show in years. Who cares if there’s no plot? The comedic timing and Cross’ pathos are what makes Todd work. It’s funny because you know that something is about to happen that’s going to be outrageous, and when it does, it confirms the insanity. Why only 6 episodes? Bring on the Todd. Can’t wait until October.
Only 6 episodes because it’s standard for many English shows to run 6 to a season, or 12 to a season, etc. Countless shows I’ve enjoyed that were British would have only 6 episodes to a season, which is frustrating, but that’s how it goes.
Show is funny, but needs more cast from “Mr. Show”. I would love to see Bob O. get his ass on the show for old time sake.
Awesome! My Wife and I love this show. It’s great. Yeah all you people saying sucks needs to go back to watching your crappy Glee.
If you don’t like the show, change the channel. Of course it is really easy to be cynical. This show is great.
After reading most of these comments, it’s clear that this show is a bit like Marmite. You either love it, or you hate it.
Best movie in the world: “District 9″; 2nd best: “Fear of a Black Hat”;
Best (ever) television series: “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”. I’ve never
I can’t wait until the 2nd season begins; I’m quivering in anTISSSiPAYshun I have not collection on DVD. This is fall down-laugh-out-loud comedy. I agree with “The Truth”–the deaf Parliament episode is ungodly laugh-out-loud funny; if I want to cheer myself up, I watch the clip on YouTube (“by dame id Todd snap crack whistle pop rub head”). THUNDER MUSCLE RULES!!!
The snobs who are offering their high brow “critiques” of the show’s “emotional content” just simply don’t get it. More than likely, they don’t allow themselves to get it. If you weren’t in stitches throughout the majority of season one, then I’d suggest a quick pulse check..
Why are you even searching for “Todd Margret” in the first place if you find the show to be so distasteful or “Laugh Free”, it sounds to me like the show caught your interest somehow for you to remember it, search it, and then critique it. Even though you despise it you must have watched a few episodes to be able to judge. Ever heard of changing the channel or turning your TV off and going kite flying? I’m not gonna tell you to go watch GLEE instead because I find that punishing but, maybe you should.
All you people giving this show bad marks are insane. This show is one of the funniest shows ever written. I can’t wait for season 2.
How can any David Cross fan not think this show is hilarious? Not well written? C’mon when Todd ate the nuts and had an allergic reaction? Genius! The deaf scene was all time! Great show, can’t wait for Season 2.
