PREVIOUS: Kiefer Sutherland Eyes TV Return With Fox Drama Pilot From ‘Heroes’ Creator
UPDATED: Kiefer Sutherland is ready for a primetime return. The 24 star has closed a deal to star in the Fox drama pilot Touch, from Heroes creator Tim Kring. In addition to Fox, Touch reunites Sutherland with 20th Century Fox TV. Co-produced by Chernin Entertainment, Touch centers on a father (Sutherland) who discovers that his autistic, mute son can predict events before they happen. With Sutherland on board, Touch is expected to get an episodic commitment. Because of the actor’s duties on Broadway where he currently stars in a revival of the Jason Miller’s That Championship Season, Touch is expected start production in late May-early June after Sutherland fulfills his commitment to the play, now in previews. That would make Touch a contender for midseason where 24 was a long-time staple. In addition to starring, Sutherland is also expected to serve as an executive producer alongside Kring, Peter Chernin and Kathrine Pope. Kring wrote Touch, his first pilot script since Heroes. Charles McDougall, who has helmed the pilots for ABC’s Desperate Housewives, CBS’ The Good Wife and, most recently, Fox’s The Chicago Code, is in talks to direct.
Sutherland, repped by CAA and Management 360, spent eight seasons on 24 playing CTU agent Jack Bauer. It became his signature role and earned him an Emmy Award in 2006.

I’m sure this will be a huge success for all involved.
After all, how could it fail with the network that’s…oh dear. But the writer is…oh dear.
RUN KIEFER RUN!
Will be nice to see Sutherland return to Fox. Really hope the script won’t turn out to be some “Bauer-like” character..
Indeed. Will he torture?
“We do not torture.”
Yeah, that certainly wasn’t successful.
He can predict events before they happen! Which is much better than predicting events after they happen.
YAY!!!! Welcome BacK Kiefer!!! We love you!!!
Kiefer and Fox got a good thing going. If you like it or not doesn`t matter if somethin works don`t rock the boat. I will surely check this out. I am one of those hoping for a 24 movie with Tony Scott directing, his style would fit perfectly with 24
So they are filming the pilot after the Upfront. Will this debut in September or January?
Does anyone else notice that another popular actor who refuses to quit drinking has landed the lead spot in a TV show. He served time rather than rehab. I would think if I was an E.P. of a Pilot I would be scared to death at some point he would go the Charlie Sheen route.
I suppose you tea drinking EP trying to get a series up with an actor now one wants to see — smart. Try drinking. Or maybe a judge judy show.
Thank God he’s coming back. He’s been gone too long. Welcome back Kiefer:)
Craft services for this show will be provided by Jack Daniels.
aw – so happy. I’m in Kief withdrawal!
Too soon…let me miss you first, Kiefer.
Kiefer Sutherland had a good run on tv. He needs to make the move to feature films. I remember when Kiefer was living in his father’s shadow. Doing B movies like Eye of the Killer and Break Up. 24 made him a star. Touch will only hurt his career.
Can anybody recall an actor returning to television so soon after a major success and repeating that success? I agree with Blah,Blah,Blah……this is just too soon for Keifer to be returning to television. I’m sure there are a few examples where an actor returned less than two years after being so identified with a character like “Jack Bauer” and hit it big again but I can’t think of any at the moment. Patricia Heaton never left but it took a couple of shots before she hit it again. Ray Romano is on the air on TNT but nobody watches that show. Come on TV wonks so me the money on this question!
Ok, take it easy on Ray Romano, Men of a Certain Age is a heck of a show that is very well written and acted. It just does not appeal to the younger TV viewer. But believe you me someone does watch it.
kiefer must be low on cash
kiefer must like to work. sounds familiar.
lol opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. I miss Kiefer so im gonna hope for the best for him and for the show. I am sure he knows the odds that this show will be as huge as 24 are slim but you never know. If he listened to all of you negative nellys he might as well curl up and die. Lets try to be positive all you haters. so much negativity is not becoming.
NO cloe’s wierd faces I aint watching,And if he doesn’t say STAY WITH ME! a 100 time an episode.
they just made that story. it was called knowing.
THERE BETTER BE ACTION!
The “Touch” is a well know description in Stephen King novels, when describes people that have the ability of telepathy or the ability to see the future. Wonder if this was inspired by that.
sweet im excited! awesome writer (to bad heroes was shoved into a brick wall, the next season could have been great), but getting on board with fox, the network cancelled firefly after one season could be bad. hopefully it goes well, though i have little faith in fox. but im the biggest fan of 24 and Kiefer Sutherland so ill be there every step of the way i cant wait!
