In an interview for BBC Radio 4 in his successor Piers Morgan’s native Britain, former CNN host said Morgan was a “fine” host but may have suffered from overhyping. “I think one of the problems (CNN) did was over sell it. He was going to be dangerous, he was going to be water cooler talk,” King said. “He’s good but not that dangerous. I think they might have been better off starting quietly and that’s not Piers’ fault, or maybe it is, I’m not inside anymore. He’s certainly not bad. He’s certainly an acceptable host. He asks good questions, maybe he interrupts a little too much at times. I think he may have been oversold.”

Pira Morgan does not listen to the people he has as guests. See the Winckelvi(sp) interview. He belongs where he was before. A sort of joke as a critic of people. He is no Larry King or for that matter any really good interviewer!
“Cavalia is the greatest show I have ever seen.”
- Larry King
Ok, you got me,,what show was that supposed to be?
What’s worse, interrupting or never listening to an answer and moving on right when someone says something worth pursuing? Keep looking down, Larry!
TRANSCRIPT RECENTLY UNCOVERED:
KING: “My guest tonite is that football God, O.J. Simpson.
SIMPSON: “Yes, yes Larry, thank you.
KING: “O.J., how’s it going.”
SIMPSON: “Alright. Alright, I guess Larry except I’ve… I’ve been having these bad dreams lately and I can’t shake them. I… I.. have trouble sleeping and I.. I.. I keep seeing these terrible things in my mind. Nicole… Nicole… Ron… I mean, I’ve just got to get the truth off my chest— all that blood— all those screams— Larry I just got to tell someone…GOT TO TELL!!!
KING: ” That’s great, Juice. But first, tell me, what’s your favorite color?”
It takes awhile to get used to the gig, but Piers had better work fast. He was overhyped so he will be hurt if he doesn’t perform better in ratings as well as his ability as host.
I think Piers is doing fine, though agree that he was overhyped.
That said, I think he did a wonderful job interviewing Janet Jackson, and he wasn’t jumping on her words.
Piers is horrible… He was just as bad in England when he was doing basically the same show… It failed there.. He will be gone soon…
Piers is a joke as the American spokesman on current issues. He has zero validity as a voice in American culture and seems to be the product of an anglomania so common with TV executives. One of his first guests on was one of the Khardasian bimbos and I thought England is laughing at us for holding this guy up as a spokesman.
I don’t think the WORST interviewer in television history should be saying shit about Piers Morgan. Larry King sucked. He never did his homework, no one watched him, and he sometimes didn’t even know who the hell was sitting in his chair. Just watch the Seinfeld interview to get an idea of how bad this guy was.
Aren’t you supposed to be working on your marriage, Larry?
Let it go…
My generation doesn’t miss you. You’re irrelevant.
Do people really tune in to interview shows anymore? The only reason I started watching Larry in the first place was so I could hear one of Captain Jenks’ phony phone calls.
Nowadays, these celebrities are overhyped that they have nothing new to say as they’ve been harping the same old material.
I toldja Piers would fail and be yanked before summer
Larry, when he still had his old radio show on Mutual Broadcasting, admitted he could fall asleep during parts of it, and then awaken to keep going. …mostly during the call-in segments.
On CNN, Larry had finally learned how to sleep on TV as well.
Good comments have been posted on this.
For one Larry King is going to be bitter for a while and you can sense that in his comments. I like how he mentions he isn’t there anymore. Larry King was mr Cnn for a long time and probably still has tons of friends in there. If he wanted to know something, he would know it. That was a swipe at cnn for forcing him out.
Larry King just got old and boring. Maybe he was provocative in the 80′s and 90′s, but the last several years he just hasn’t been that interesting, and he comes across as a celebrity suckup, not a real truth seeker on issues that matter.
And yes interview shows just don’t do it for most people. Maybe some interviews will get people excited, but on a night to night basis people just aren’t going to care that much.
SOON TO GO!!
I’m a FOX guy, but since I can’t stand SH I’ve checked out PM. He’s not half bad, especially since L. King was absolutely terrible, down in J. Behar territory. Now I always check to see who PM has on as a guest/s. If it’s not another greedy Hollywood Sh*tburger, I’ll watch.
Piers is pathetic. Laughably bad.
Piers Morgan said in a recent interview that he’s been reading tabloids since he was seven years old and has “always wanted to be a journalist.” The problem is, when one sucks news at an early age from the teat of shock headlines, one has no idea what real journalism is. Thus, Morgan has a repugnant history as first a reporter for and then the editor of three notorious British tabloids. Morgan calls himself a serious journalist, yet he spent over a decade lying, exaggerating and printing salacious rumors about the rich and famous at The Sun (1989–94), News of the World (1994–95), and the Daily Mirror (1995–04). Without a public acknowledgment—indeed, an apology for deceiving the public—I don’t think he’ll ever be able to wash the stink off himself from being mentored by Rupert Murdoch and Kelvin Mackenzie, both repulsive yellow journalists. Now he’s trotting himself out as a quality but “dangerous” mainstream interviewer when he should be hunkering down to actually learn the ethics and skills of responsible journalists. Shame on CNN for hiring this disreputable and lame excuse for a journalist. It’s a sad day for journalism when Piers Morgan is considered mainstream.
I think Piers is great! He is far more intellegent that Larry KIng and i love his English Manners. I hope he shares some of it here in America we certainly need some manners and civility.
Morgan is the single biggest mistake in broadcasting history. He thinks he’s smart, but he’s not. At all. I’m stunned to find out he’s a religious nut, but that fits with how he hates women and apparently, everyone.
Cavalia was a show done by Cirque du Soleil a few years back (well, when I saw it). It sucked. It involved ltos of horses prancing around about the stage and galloping from stage left to stage right as their trainers/performers were atop them yelling “Aie-yiyi-yi-yi!” and smiling at the audience. Even if I didn’t have asthma, the 3 hour show still would’ve almost killed me. Larry King is sadly misinformed that Cavalia was his favourite show…I prefer to think it was a hybrid show “Larry King Arthur and the round table”.
Piers Morgan what the fuck CNN think about us? This dude Piers is
populist , extremely not talented for any TV work ext, top shop !
He has to go.
