It’s been a big week for the Lone Star leading trio. Adrianne Palicki (on right in the photo), was just cast as the new Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s pilot for NBC. Now the show’s star, Jimmy Wolk and other female lead, Eloise
Mumford, have also been tapped for high-profile pilot gigs.
Wolk is set to headline ABC’s drama Georgetown. The hourlong project, written by Will Fetters, is described as a sexy soap centered around the young people behind the power brokers of Washington, DC. It centers on Andrew Pierce (Wolk), an effortlessly charming and brilliant Yale graduate and the youngest Presidential speech-writer on record who was once idealistic but is now cynical as he sees how compromise has eroded the administration’s promise. Georgetown hails from Warner Bros. TV and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire.
One of Wolk’s two Lone Star leading ladies, Eloise Mumford (left), has become the first actor cast in another ABC drama, horror thriller The River. The project, from DreamWorks TV and ABC Studios, centers on small group that goes deep into the Amazon in search for a missing TV explorer. Mumford will play a fearless helicopter pilot attached to the expedition whose father, the TV explorer’s cameraman, is also missing.
In other pilot castings, Lauren Lapkus and Natalie Morales have joined NBC’s Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, a multicamera comedy inspired by Chelsea Handler’s autobiographical book of the same name about her life in her 20s.

Georgetown is probably the best written pilot out there… great cast… this is gonna be sweet.
does anyone know who is hiring the crew for this pilot? I work freelance in production here in nyc an I am looking to be a part of this awesome show!
No surprise here. All three are super talented.
Can we please stop parroting the phrase “sexy soap” – it’s idiotic. Like a funny comedy or a dramatic drama.
Is Andrew Pierce supposed to be Jon Favreau?
This show is ridiculously close to the much better Body Politic stupidly passed on by the insanely inept Dawn Ostroff at CW!!!!! Josh Shcwarz should be ashamed.
And, by the way, wasn’t there a show called Georgetown about the same frickin’ thing.
Moiral and creative bankruptcy…
I do like Wolk though. Big mistake for him and his soon to be fired reps
And there was a Dick Wolf produced show called DC written by John August (I think) about the same thing that aired on the WB ten years ago! So shame on the writers of Body Politic (not really)! And a pilot for Big Ticket TV on CBS called GEORGETOWN eight years ago about the same thing!
Who cares! Staffers in DC isn’t a creative idea. The creativity comes in the execution. Vampire romance can be done more three ways and be a success (Vampire Diaries, Twilight, True Blood). DC is simply a venue for storytelling, maybe Josh, Stephanie and Will Fetters have conceived an interesting new take and some great characters. Knowing the players involved, they probably have.
And there’s something insanely likeable about Jimmy Wolk and I say that with a completely hetero appetite.
“Staffers in DC isn’t a creative idea. The creativity comes in the execution.” Agreed.
is there anything will fetters doesn’t hit out of the park?
never heard. does he even have one produced credit? or is this his mother?
yeah – the only movie he’s written. i think you meant will ferrell, not fetters.
There’s this thing called IMDB guys! Get in the business! A brief internet stalking session will reveal he’s young and wrote REMEMBER ME (which I rented recently on itunes and actually found myself enjoying being a sucker for all things September 11th),
I believe he’s attached to adapt that book based on the kid who crashed with his dad and survived in the woods (also a Men’s Journal article). He also wrote the LUCKY ONE starring Zac Efron based on a book by Nicholas “king of weepies” Sparks and rewrote the upcoming Star Is Born being directed by my main man Clint Eastwood and the lovely Beyonce. I don’t know the guy but don’t hate on him. In the words of 50 Cent “Let the haters hate and watch the money pile up”
What has Will Fetters NOT hit out of the park? How about Remember Me? You know, his only credit.
Georgetown is easily one of the best pilots out there. Schwartz + Savage + Fetters = quality. Anyone who denies that is kidding themselves. Schwartz’s and Savage’s resumes speak for themselves and I find it laughable when people try to peg them or their projects as “creatively bankrupt”. Given the enormous success they’ve had in television, and their increasing presence on the feature side, I think it’s safe to assume they know what they’re doing…
The pilot IS good, but it is almost plot for plot point the pilot of the West wing Both center on the political fallout from a staffer overspeaking on air and their friends scrambling to convince the higher ups that the president couldn’t have been elected without him. The only difference is the WW delved deeply into the issues and made you learn, while Fetters pilot avoids substance and is content with flash and superficial convos about politics.
One of the best written pilots out there? Are you kidding? A poorly written Jon Favreau type loses interest in working for an Obama so decides to go work for a wanna be Sarah Palin and then OOPS! realizes he fucked her daughter?
This script was laughable.
jimmy wolk is the television kiss of death. he’s the new eric balfour – a mannequin with a vague stare who gets agency muscled into one formerly awesome project after another. you want to blame this disgrace on his ‘team’ but at some point let’s call out this haircut masquerading as an actor for what he is: zero calorie pablum of the lowest order, a symptom of network executives’ addiction to failure
good for wolk. he’s a good guy and has a nice future ahead.
Lauren Lapkus is going to kill it on “Are you there, vodka?”! She is one of the funniest people I’ve ever seen!
Agreed. She is amazing! Congrats to Lauren!
Agreed. Lauren is incredible!
Totally. Can’t wait to see Ms. Lapkus tear it up some more on the small screen! She’s hilarious.
Wolk chose another go-nowhere pilot it seems. Will this one last much longer than Lone Star? How about not doing a lame soap opera?
James Wolk is someone to watch. Ever since I saw him in that Hallmark movie where he has tourette’s (can’t remember name of it?) I have waited for his next project. Really think he has the potential to be the next Clooney.
