EXCLUSIVE: Australian actor Robert Taylor, best known for his role as Agent Jones in The Matrix, has landed the lead of A&E’s hourlong pilot Longmire. Based on the Walt Longmire Mystery series of novels by Craig Johnson, Longmire is named after its central character, Walt Longmire (Taylor), the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Widowed only a year, he is a man in psychic repair but buries his pain behind his brave face, unassuming grin, and dry wit. Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny wrote the project and are executive producing with Greer Shephard and Mike Robin for Warner Horizon.

I’d really like to hear soon of a certain other Matrix agent, *cough*Hugo Weaving*cough*, finalizing his role as Elrond in The Hobbit.
Just had a beer with Rob Taylor – think Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. He’s rugged, he’s weathered and he’s perfect. Forget the Matrix photos – Rob is a real talent and as we say in Australia an absolute gun.
And BTW – if you think for one second that Americans would be allowed to play British or Australian on their shows….YOU’RE WRONG!
Who cares where the actors are from? Australian or American … does it really matter?
Absolutly – who cares where the actor is from, American actors and programming dominates Aussie TV and cinema, made in whatever country the producers can make the most bucks. Just give the guy a fair go and let the audience decide!
“And BTW – if you think for one second that Americans would be allowed to play British or Australian on their shows….YOU’RE WRONG!”
You obviously haven’t watched any British or Australian shows !!!
It doesn’t matter where they are from
Huh. This sounds kind of interesting. I’ll give it a shot. A kind of American “Wallander?”
I am an old friend wanting to wish him well, I first met Robert in 1987 in Perth whilst he was attending drama college.
What a great story well done my friend.
Cheers Captain Kerry
YES give the guy a go, his a dear friend of my too and has worked hard to get where he has cheers
They are filming part of ??, or all of the pilot in
the Taos ski valley, north of Taos New Mexico high up in the mountains.
i was just there on vacation, and was wowed by the amount of security, trucks, people, and equiptment that they had there, all trucked in from California.
I didnt see anyone famous, but what a rugged and beautiful location for any pilot/tv show/film
I’ve read all of the Longmire books by Craig Johnson and they are great reading. I just hope Taylor can do justice to the character. I’m not familiar with his work so I do I don’t have an opinion of him as an actor.
nice picture (:
He’s cute, but he’s too young (unless they’re setting it about 20 years ago. Walt Longmire is a Viet Nam veteran, as is his friend Henry “The Cheyenne Nation”.
Yes he is young looking for Longmire. After all he is a Viet Nam vet. I’d expect someone more like Tommy Lee Jones who has more “road” in his face. Unless his pictures have been beeb photo shopped. Wonder who they have playing Henry?
Walt needs to be older and more rugged. Any one read the books? Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry? Puleeze!
