The 2011 NBA All-Star Game on TNT drew 9.1 million viewers on Saturday. That was the annual NBA showcase’s largest audience since 2003 when Michael Jordan made his final NBC All-Star appearance.
Vs. last year, the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, which saw LA Lakers‘ Kobe Bryant lead the West to a win and earn a fourth All-Star MVP trophy, was up 33% in viewers and 38% in adults 18-49 (5.2 million vs. 3.8 million). Heading into the 2011 NBA All-Star break, the 2010-11 NBA season on TNT is the most watched season in Turner’s 27 years of airing NBA coverage. Through 38 games, the NBA on TNT is averaging 2.4 million viewers.

This has been an interesting season, with compelling story lines. These new stars have done a lot to establish themselves, soon enough people will be asking, Michael who (if we aren’t already there yet)?
Easily the dumbest comment I’ve read in the few years I’ve been reading this site.
I used to be a diehard NBA fan, now I can’t even watch it. From start to finish it felt like I was in a Compton strip club — do they have those?? — seriously thought someone was going to “make it rain” at any second. Thought about going downtown to some of the festivities, until I realized it was a drive-by waiting to happen.
BTW, what a coincidence that Kobe was the MVP here in LA. Are you f*cking kidding me?!?
Both of these comments are idiotic
A. no one will ever forget “Michael”
B. Kobe won MVP cause he dominated the game and his team won, look at the box score for the game and tell me who deserved it more? and I hate Kobe in general
C. Racist much?
It was A GREAT All Star Weekend
Blake Griffin is why.
@Steve – if you actually watched the game (which I’m assuming you didn’t), you’d know that Kobe was without questions the MVP, scoring 37 points with 14 rebounds, and coming through with clutch shots at critical moments. I have no idea what you are referring to with “Compton strip clubs”. Sounds like another comment referring to something you know nothing about.
The NBA All-Star game is an embarrassment. It’s like bad pick-up ball w/ really talented players. No defense, no energy…no heart. And Bryant is a sorry excuse for a sports hero. Talent? Yes. Character? No. If that’s what your into…
couple of issues w/the article….
1.the game was on sunday night.
2.the 2003 all-star game was on tnt…nbc’s nba rights expired in 2002.
3.steve is a massive failtard.
