Will Paget Brewster be back on Criminal Minds next season? CBS certainly hopes so, I hear the network recently gave her an offer to return to the crime drama as a full-fledged regular next season. But as part of her modified deal for this season, in which she was asked to scale back her duties as a regular on the show (though she ended up being in every episode so far), Brewster was allowed to do a pilot for next fall, and she is using the opportunity. Brewster has already been approached for 3 Fox comedy pilots. She has comedy history at the network, having co-starred in the underrated Andy Richter Controls the Universe and done voice-over work on American Dad. Brewster is free to do pilots at any network/studio, but because CBS and ABC Studios, which produces Criminal Minds with CBS TV Studios, want her back on the show, I hear CBS, ABC and their studios will be refraining from offering her pilots to not compete with Criminal Minds for her services. “We’d hope that she would stay, she has the option to do so,”CBS’ entertainment president Nina Tassler said at TCA last month.
Because of her situation, I hear Brewster’s storyline on Criminal Minds this season will end with a cliffhanger that will allow the producers to bring her back or write her off if needed.
Brewster is not the only Criminal Minds cast member whose return to the 
show next season is uncertain at the moment. The deals for stars Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore are up at the end of this season and I hear the two are nowhere near new pacts. Matthew Gray Gubler and Joe Mantegna have another year on their contracts, though I hear Gubler has been seeking a salary bump. Kristen Vangsness got a new deal in the summer as she also co-stars on the Criminal Minds spinoff.

What’s with all the trouble with the series. CM rates higher than CSI and than NCIS:LA at times. If it was a bubble show, the perennial unrest on the show would be somewhat understandable. There must be serious drama going on behind the curtain. NIKKI & Nellie get to the bottom of this STAT.

I hope Paget sticks around. I enjoy her character a great deal. I also hope Thomas Gibson stays, Hotchner is very important to the group dynamic.

Paget should move on. Her talents are being wasted over at CRIMINAL MINDS. Stale, dry, boring material. She needs something more layered and nuanced. She’s actually a much better dramatic actress than people realize. Maybe she’ll also consider one-hours as well.
I agree with writer88 that some of Paget’s CM scenes are a little stale, dry and boring, and that she is an awesome actress with much more to offer a role. I am sad and depressed about the upheaval on criminal minds, i.e. AJ getting tossed and Paget being messed with. I am losing interest fast and won’t watch the spinoff, or any other cbs shows, no disrespect to those great actors but only to cbs itself. Once Paget is gone from CM I am. Wish I wasn’t so stubborn about it all but it is what it is.
Not to leave it as totally negative, some of Paget’s scenes on Criminal minds have been AWESOME and some still are but lately it has been less so – it’s just the writing, not her. Just wanted to clarify.
I totally agreewith you. Paget is an incredible actress and the character Emily Prentiss is such a big part of the show. She brings brains, beauty,guts, emotion and passion to team. Once Paget is gone, so am I.
all of you realize it is her choice, cbs wants paget to stay they don’t want her to leave. I don’t know if they are doing anything to make her stay but they don’t want her to leave.
Not being clear about it and letting her go, while she finds a new job (6 months later) and later on asking her back doesn’t leave her any choice. She has a commitment to the pilot, they made her leave, she didn’t want to go even when they cut her of to reduce her role 50% she stayed. CBS had 6 months to make things right, they had a choice, she didn’t, she just needed a new job, Can you really blame the girl or claim she had a choice….CBS way to use spindoctor marketing tricks to distance themselves from the problems they created with the cast….
Paget Brewster is a very funny lady, her work on Andy Richter Controls the Universe was phenomenal, anyone who claimed to be her fan should really check it out. i hope she gets to jump ship to do something more creative and interesting than a procedural crime drama because she can do so much more. this is a great opportunity for her.

Hey, Lola & Mandy both chose to leave CM, so they’re obviously not coming back. I liked Lola’s character but I don’t miss Mandy or his character at all.
I still miss AJ Cook in every single episode, and she definitely did not choose to leave. The new character is a joke and I hope she’s not a permanent addition.
So I wouldn’t blame Paget for leaving, nor would I blame anyone else at this point. CBS really messed with this amazing cast, who are like a family on & off screen, and I hope CBS pays dearly for it.
And I do wish all of the cast (past and present) the absolute best in whatever they choose to do. Criminal Minds isn’t the best show out there, but they are my favorite ensemble cast.

Paget is comedy gold, and brilliantly funny. Her talents are utterly wasted on the dour Criminal Minds. Fox should grab her.
A part of me wishes Paget sticks to telling CBS (Nina Tassler) to kiss her ass, but another part of me desperately wants her to stay. Here’s a plan:
Renew Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore’s contract
Give MGG a salary increase- if they don’t, for sure the show will lose many viewers
Paget agrees to come back, but CBS had better give her a salary increase! Plus, a little ass kissing personally delivered by Nina Tassler wouldn’t hurt either
Get rid of the Seaver character!!!

Only that scenario plus JJ’s return will bring me back as a viewer…I have not watched a SINGLE episode since JJ left, and never plan to again, unless they fix what they broke Don’t know what Tassler & Company’s problem really is, but they chose to arbitrarily ruin one of the BEST cast/families on network t.v. It WAS my favorite series, and I had not missed an episode since season one. The powers-that-be should instead, get rid of Ms. Tassler, as she’s obviously running away viewers for CM. I’m not the only viewer who has left the series, so have all my family members…and I’m sure we’re not alone.
that is literally my exact plan of action. Couldnt think of a better one myself. I think the “powers that be” at CBS got bored with how well the show was doing on basically autopilot so they decided to purposefully destory it so they would have something to do with themselves all season.

They all deserve salary bumps and are currently under-paid compared to their SVU/NCIS counter-parts. Granted, they get to work on a great set with great people. What happened to this show is a classic example of network brass making the mistake of ‘fixin and meddlin’ where it ain’t broke’.
Paget Brewster ROCKS. Strong actress in both drama and comedy. I hope she finds a show that utilizes her talents to the utmost. NBC’s offer for next season is nice but it might be too little, too late.

Paget also did a hilarious guest spot on Two and a Half Men as a former ugly ducking from Alan’s high school who shows up later looking like, well, Paget Brewster. OMG was she sexy on that ep.
I agree with those who say her talents are wasted on CM, as are those of just about any actor on a procedural (watching Lawrence Fishburne on CSI is impossibly painful).
That said, speaking selfishly, I watch the show and would rather not lose her. They took a huge hit when they lost AJ Cook and the show would be dreadful without Paget, especially if they think that new high school-looking actress will last.
But whatever Paget chooses to do, all the best to her. She’s terrific.
my plan: i think they should get rid of the criminal minds: suspect behavior show…because it’s just lame and pointless because it has no like true character in it and they should increase MGG’s salary, put paget and Aj back on the show (aj’s already back on the show though) and then renew thomas, and shemar’s contracts and joe’s and get rid of Rachel Nichols(ashley seaver) oh yea and give paget a raise for how they treated her like garbage and other stuff…..(;

As much as I’d like to see Paget on Crimina Minds, I understand that she can be distrustful of CBS after how they treated her at the start of this season. Seeking other pilots is very sensible of her.

Ms. Brewster does hysterical voice work in the current animated series, “Dan Vs.” Since the show runs on Hasbro’s “The Hub” cable channel, I hope there will be an action figure of her supergenius ninja character, Elise.
I really hope Paget stays. She’s one of the strongest ladies on TV.
And CM would die without Thomas Gibson. He’s the show. If Gibson’s not there, CM will fail anyway, so Paget should keep her options open until TG resigns.
I hope T. Gibson’s and S. Moore’s contract will be renewed.
I hope P. Brewster will return on the show, but that one is up to her and I’ll understand if she doesn’t want to.

Paget loves comedy and comedy loves Paget. They’re a perfect fit. It would be great for her to get out from under CBS’s thumb so we can really see her shine.
Bring back Huff whatever that show was on Showtime. Am I the only person that liked that show? I thought it was pretty good and Paget was great on it.
Here’s an idea for the seventh season:
Bring AJ and Paget back as JJ and Emily, renew everyone’s contracts for one final season, git rid of Seaver or at least make or recurring or throw her onto Suspect Behavior cuz she doesnt fit on the original.
Ideally, the seventh season could be the final season starring Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Mathew Gray Gubler, paget Brewster, AJ Cook,, Kirste Vangness and Joe Mantegna.
Focus on everyone’s background stories,everyone should get an arc and fans should get closure. We should learn more about thier secrets and how they ended up in the BAU and why they wanted to be there. Also, I am a JJ and Spence fan, so they should get together somehow because in my mind, they are perfect together.Provide better writing and some more long term unsubs, and everyone gets closure. Fans and CM cast alike. ANd everyone else should get love interests that are in the background and dont take up to much time of the main storylines. But they all deserve to be happy. I still want a JJ and Spence coupling. That is the only CM work couple that should happen.
Also, Mandy Patinkin and Lola Glaudini should return for guest star arcs and proper goodbyes.
Send Seaver far away for a while at least, then bring her back for the eighth season as a redeemed and more experienced character who is also less annoying and less Mary Sue-ish. The Eighth season should have a new cast then with Seaver as the media liason. That way, in can work and a nw audience can come in. CBS should consider that.
Otherwise, I refuse to accept Seaver as part of the BAU family and i feel seriously miffed about the current cast changes. But since everyone needs to move on at some point, the season 5 cast lineup should return for one final season and get what they deserve. Good storylines and all, the whole nine yards. CBS should shake things up with a new cast for the eighth season. Less uproar and everything. It’ll work better that way in my opinion.
That is how you give a show a successful makeover.
I love the cast how it was, pre- Seaver.If this doesnt happen, then… THomas Gibson, Shemar Moore and Paget Brewster should leave and I will stop watching the show because it all went to hell.

A) All of that was a jumbled mess. I had no idea what you were talking about and had to re-read the post several times.
B) JJ and Spencer should NOT get together.
C) The show wouldn’t be made better just because everything went “happily ever after.” I’m a person who loves a happy ending, but that isn’t logical for this show. This show is dark and the mentality the characters have to have don’t make a happy ending possible for everyone. MGG’s character was a drug addict for awhile, TG’s character’s wife was killed by a serial killer (and his son almost was too), and so on…to say that a happily ever after would be a great ending is stupid.
D) Your idea is very optimistic and idealistic, which is not what this show altogether portrays. It’s about understanding the minds of the depraved; your “sunshine and rainbows” idea would never work and would leave me, a long-time fan since it first came out, annoyed and likely to put my foot through the television because it doesn’t make sense.
I’m sorry if you’re offended by what I’ve said, but seriously…watch the seasons again and tell me if your idea is all that viable. Because anyone who’s been a big fan can tell you, it’s not.
I fully agree… they need to do one final season and bring back everyone from season 5 for final good byes. I also think they should go into everyones backgrounds and give the characters and fans closure. This includes JJ husband and her baby and hotch’s jack… they brought all those people in and made them apart of it so we need to bring em all out TOGETHERE. I want to know everyones story better and all these secrets.

I just have to say that i think Paget Brewster would have made a badass, kickass awesomely wicked Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the upcoming Christopher Nolan film, as opposed to Anne Hathaway or any other big name actress.

First, As a huge fan of the show, I seriously want Paget to stay; but as a fan of the actress, I want her to do what will make her happy. After CBS’s shabby treatment of her, I can’t blame her if she opts to tell them to kiss it.
Criminal Minds was one of the most intelligent shows on television until CBS decided to systematically deconstruct it in order to (according to Nina Tassler) bring it in line with the new spin off. The Mark Gordon company needs to implement some damage control NOW. Restore this series to its original premise–delving into the minds of criminals!
They need to get on their knees and beg Paget, Thomas and Shemar to stay—throwing a little more money at them might help!
Give Gubler the pay raise he desires. I don’t know what he makes now, but he started this series as the least know actor in the cast, so I’m sure his pay scale reflects that fact. He has, however, emerged as a fan favorite and is now a huge drawing factor for the show. He deserves to be rewarded for that.

those actors and actresses get paid good, they need to stop thinking about what their getting paid and give the money to someone who truely needs it, i hate the actors and actresses who wines about their pay when they get paid an acceptable amount, but i do agree that they keep the family together, it wont be the same without them.
One, I really really hope the ever-so-talented Paget B. stays with the show.
Two, I really don’t think TG and SM will have problems renewing their contracts…it’s really too soon for anything to be certain about this matter. Their contracts are only up in 3-months time. There’s plenty of time to ink a deal that’s satisfactory for all the parts involved. I mean, I’m vigilant, since CBS’s producers minds work in mysterious ways… but I’m pretty confident anything will come out all right.
And if it doesn’t, seriously, I’ll simply stop watching the show altogether, and I’m sure A LOT OF people will too…
