Will Paget Brewster be back on Criminal Minds next season? CBS certainly hopes so, I hear the network recently gave her an offer to return to the crime drama as a full-fledged regular next season. But as part of her modified deal for this season, in which she was asked to scale back her duties as a regular on the show (though she ended up being in every episode so far), Brewster was allowed to do a pilot for next fall, and she is using the opportunity. Brewster has already been approached for 3 Fox comedy pilots. She has comedy history at the network, having co-starred in the underrated Andy Richter Controls the Universe and done voice-over work on American Dad. Brewster is free to do pilots at any network/studio, but because CBS and ABC Studios, which produces Criminal Minds with CBS TV Studios, want her back on the show, I hear CBS, ABC and their studios will be refraining from offering her pilots to not compete with Criminal Minds for her services. “We’d hope that she would stay, she has the option to do so,”CBS’ entertainment president Nina Tassler said at TCA last month.
Because of her situation, I hear Brewster’s storyline on Criminal Minds this season will end with a cliffhanger that will allow the producers to bring her back or write her off if needed.
Brewster is not the only Criminal Minds cast member whose return to the 
show next season is uncertain at the moment. The deals for stars Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore are up at the end of this season and I hear the two are nowhere near new pacts. Matthew Gray Gubler and Joe Mantegna have another year on their contracts, though I hear Gubler has been seeking a salary bump. Kristen Vangsness got a new deal in the summer as she also co-stars on the Criminal Minds spinoff.

If Shemar Moore`s and/or Thomas Gibson`s contracts are not renewed for season seven of Criminal Minds, I will stop watching the show.
An addendum to my previous comment: Please, please get rid of that horrible new character, Seaver. Fans of the show are insulted that we are expected to accept a still-in-the-academy cadet standing with this elite team delivering a profile.
Hotch is the best character on television and Thomas Gibson has a great talent which often goes unnoticed. If his contract isn’t renewed, then count me amongst the large truckloads of fans that will not return for a CM Season 7.
Paget is a wonderful actress and I trust she will do what is best for her. I’d love to have her back on CM (assuming TG is back also) but I want her to be where she’ll be happy.
CM should take a page from NCIS: they know they found the right team, and don’t mess with it. Get rid of the bland blonde, bring back AJ, and grovel if you must to get Paget to stay. Oh, and don’t get lazy on the righting: the episode where they arrested the politician was shameful.

I would have stopped watching NCIS if any one of the team didn’t come back. I almost stopped watching it after Jenny died, but the new guy has interesting secrets.
Big fan of her….hope she stays but would love to see her get another project of her own to shine in…

Paget is tops on CM, and she, Gibson and Moore should stay. Whoever created the storyline that saddled us with the new female character needs to be fired. It’s an absolute insult to regular viewers that this character is part of the show. That’s not a diss on the actress, just the character. There’s no way it will work. Kinda like the Fishburne character on CSI. We invest in these series and it’s outrageous when the producers and network suits have so little respect to put parvenus into the mix. Idiocy. Vangness is terrific too but knock off the phony flirting. It makes me gag each time. Again, not true to the character.
And Bring Back JJ!!!

CBS…there is NO need for Season 7 without Thomas Gibson.
Okay, I think Paget should stay. Prentiss is one of my favorite characters — and I don’t think she’s being “wasted” on CM. The commenters who think she should leave because the show is “dry and stale” or otherwise mediocre are downright wrong! CM is still as fascinating during S6 as it was during previous seasons (“Reflection of Desire” and the season premiere are definitely two of my favorite episodes of the show), and they’re finally giving Prentiss a plotline, which I’d be really excited about if it didn’t mean Paget was leaving. The most recent episode has me on tenterhooks for more. Ah, and I can’t forget “Corazon,” with the terrifying but tantalyzing hints that Reid may be developing his mother’s illness; that was a fantastic episode, and I’m hoping they pick up that plotline when they’ve finished Prentiss’s arc.
As for Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore needing to renew their contracts, I wouldn’t worry. There simply is no show without Hotch, and Morgan and Garcia’s flirty banter is one of the show’s most reliable types of comic relief. I’m certain that losing one or both would push almost every fan just a little too far.
I can’t believe they would get rid of TG or SM, it’s just not logical.
I was really excited when they started putting a focus on Prentiss too…until I realized they could write her off in the end. But they’ve had back-stories for everyone else in multiple episodes. There were only two episodes where you got to see anything about Prentiss personally: the one where you met her mother, the ambassador; and the one about the priest who was performing “exorcisms” that ended up killing the “inflicted.” Everyone else has had multiple opportunities to learn more about them. Morgan could use another episode or two, I think, but Prentiss is my favorite character and I think Paget Brewster is an amazing actress.
She knows she’s good at comedies, she knows she was made for them…I think it’s good she branched out to a darker series. Her aside comments are well-delivered and hilarious. But I think her exploration of a new line of acting is fantastic. I don’t think she’s gotten stale necessarily, but I think the writers could liven her up a bit again.
CBS just keeps screwing the pooch when it comes to CM. They can’t seem to leave well enough alone. They had a great group dynamic both on and off the set with the the cast that they’ve had the last couple of seasons. They lost a lot of the drama when Mandy left. This group worked well together and it showed in the ratings and in the product they produced. CBS already made a huge mistake by letting AJ Cook go. Both she and JJ were the heart of the team. Now they have realized the error of their decision to let Paget Brewster go and want her back but Paget seems like she wants to test the waters elsewhere. I don’t blame her for being hurt and not trusting the network any longer (reading between the lines).
Now is seems they want to completely destroy the show. They need Thomas Gibson to return if they want the show to succeed. Hotch is the undisputed leader of the BAU and Thomas Gibson portrays Hotch almost perfectly. I really can’t see anyone else leading this team, especially not Morgan. Though Shemar Moore does well as eye candy and the muscle of the team, I don’t think he could replace Thomas Gibson/Hotch as the leader on a regular basis.
CBS needs to right this ship. They should get rid of the horrible new character Ashley Seaver. Nothing against the actress that plays her but she pales in comparasion to AJ Cook. The reaction to AJ coming back for Paget’s last episode should give CBS the clue that perhaps fans love that idea and want her back permanently. Keep Paget even if you have to give her the key to the city. Renew Gibon’s contract, you’ll lose the fans if you don’t.
CBS assumes people will keep watching no matter what they do to CM. What’s happening at CSI should tell you that isn’t true.
I don’t watch CM, but I’m a fan of Paget’s. I can’t believe she’s not more appreciated than she appears to be.
I wondered why the name Ashley Seaver sounded familiar. I think it reminds me of Chrissy Seaver, the extra kid played by Ashley Johnson brought on to Growing Pains as an infant and made a 6yo after a season or so (hoping nobody would notice, I guess).
Love Paget and I love Emily! She’s an outstanding actress and those idiots can’t see that.
I don’t need to wait for bad news about Thomas and Shemar because as soon and Paget goes so goes my nation!

Just when I thought CBS couldn’t get any stupider…. If they think that this show will survive even a few episodes into the next season without Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore, they are smoking something more powerful than what any medical clearance can allow them to buy in California.
What is their obession with tinkering with this show? Didn’t they do enough when they let go of many of the show’s strongest writers at the end of season 4? Guess not, because then they went ahead and fired AJ Cook. But wait, I guess even those two things weren’t enough because then they had to mess with Paget Brewster so badly that she wants to run as far away from them as possible. To further compound their stupidity, they add the most ridiculous new character to the show possible. A freaking cadet whose father is some serial killing psycho gets to join the BAU and start profiling even though she has no credibility whatsoever to do so based on how they show has run for all of these seasons, yeah, not even a 5 year old would believe that storyline.
CBS needs to get the hell out of messing with this show. CBS needs to also start treating the actors on this show with the respect that they have earned all of these years busting their humps to make this a successful show. I know that Paget is probably beyond done with CBS, but I sincerely hope that she will come back season 7, as well as Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore. What I emphatically do not want to see season 7 is the Ashley Seaver character. This is not a personal dig against the actress, it is the character of Ashley Seaver that makes no sense and is insulting to the majority of the Criminal Minds viewers.

I think the show was at it’s greatest point with JJ, Reid, Morgan, Garcia, Prentiss, Hotch and Rossi. Without JJ its worse but liveable (but I do miss her!). I reall dont like the new girl, and the show won’t be the same without Prentiss. But it cannot be criminal minds without Hotch, Morgan and Reid. It WILL fail. And I am definetly not watching the spin-off.
Why is everyone so worked up about Moore and Gibson NOT having new contracts yet? IT’S ONLY FEBRUARY! Some contract renewal talks can go on until camera roles for the fall season!
Everyone just relax and enjoy THIS season before worrying about NEXT season. (and for that matter,stop worrying about THIS Season,too!)
It is early in contract talks, but I think people are concerned about what may happen to Gibson and Moore now because of what CBS has already done to this show. They have almost completely butchered this show for the sake of the spin-off. Their actions to date with regard to this show demonstrates that they do not value of the actors on the show and it would absolutely not surprise me at all if another cast member were to leave and/or get fired. As crazy as that may sound, I would not put anything past CBS. Not to mention that they have done this type of messing around with shows.
I hope that Paget decides to return for season 7, but would totally understand if she wants to explore other projects considering how CBS treated her. Like others, I have no interest in seeing the Cadet Seaver character return or season 7, heck, if possible, I wish they would just write her off now. That character is not only ridiculous, it adds no depth or substance to the show, and I’m sorry, there is no way that I am going to believe that some wet behind the ears cadet can just stroll on into the BAU.

I wish they’d bring back AJ and return the show to it’s former glory but thats wishful thinking. But in any case, they should keep them three before they ruin the show completely.

I certainly hope they bring back A.J. Cook for more than one episode (like permanently) and that they do everything in their power to keep Paget Brewster on the show as well as Gibson, Moore, Vagsness, Mantegna and Gubler. The chemistry between all of them is MAGIC! The show hasn’t been as good since they let A.J. Cook leave and the writing isn’t as great as it use to be. I’ll never understand why they messed with the best show on television in the first place!
Seaver does not seem to fit with the rest of the cast members.
They need to bring back their viewers and to do this they need to bring back JJ and keep Emily as well as the rest of the team! They also need to improve the writing of the show like it was the prior seasons. The writing in prior seasons seemed to show off each personal character’s traits and relationships with one another and by doing that, the audience became personally attached to each of them.

I used to love the dynamics of the characters’ interactions, how they perfectly fit toghether like the pieces of a puzzle, how they acted according to a well-defined personality. That’s why at first I thought A.J. Cook was leaving on her own acord, because she had a different project or so, and I couldn’t think of a reason why CBS would like to get rid of her. When I knew that, not only had she been shamefully and unfairly kicked out, but also that Paget Brewster was going to share a similar destiny, I felt completely puzzled.
I know nothing about marketing, but this cannot be of any help for a show that was working just fine -At least the actors were- Maybe it is too late to beg for Cook’s return, but if Prentise or any other character besides Seaver (nothing personal. I just think her character makes little sense in the plot) isn’t back for next season, I’m done with the show. I can’t decide who stays, but I’m still free to decide what to watch and what not to watch and though I’d be sad, it would be sadder to watch a good show disintegrate.
If budgetary reasons was the factor for A.J.’S departure, why not take the rest of the money that Charlie Sheen was to be paid for and use that to bring her and Paget back. Considering Charlie Sheen’s state of mind, no wonder his salary is affecting shows like Criminal Minds and he’s not even a cast member.
Paget please come back to CM. CBS give thomas gibson and shemar their raises and bring back AJ Cook with a raise and get rid of the blonde bimbo that can’t act. The show nweeds all it’s most original members .AJ ASJJ IS GREAT! How could you fire her the show needs her back,it’s not the same without her. If you don’t I won’t watch anymore.
