The following internal email was just sent inside Paradigm: “Effective immediately, David Guillod is no longer an employee at Paradigm.” Insiders tell me the decision was Paradigm’s. This is very strange since he came to Paradigm in November 2009. First he leaves UTA after 8 years as a partner and co-head of the motion picture talent department to supposedly join a content company. Then he defects to Paradigm and Sam Gores sounds thrilled in the announcement saying “the culture and environment at Paradigm is the right place for him to pursue the next chapter of his career [as] a very senior agent [and] great addition to Paradigm’s present and future”.

If i were really a fortune teller i would have told DG that his vile, souless, immoral, disgusting behavior would eventually lead to this. It’s nice to see justice in this town. This guy lied just to lie even when there was no upside for him. I could not believe that he lasted that long at UTA as his b.s. becomes evident in about 5 minutes.

The problem is Sam Gores. What kind of “culture” is he promoting by hiring people like David, Steve Small and that pariah Jim Osborne (with apologies to Gavin P, the Original Pariah)? Of course, it’s a bottom line culture, one that values people very little.
When you plant decrepit lemon trees, it’s hard to complain about sour lemonade.
A bottom line agency? Paradigm has been losing money for Platinum Equity since its inception. Steve Small, Norman the midget and Sam all have no real clients and Gores is ok, but the rest of them lie for no reason.
He came in November ’09, so he’s been there 14 months, not 3. David is an aggressive Agent. Rubs people the wrong way but he’s very good at what he does. I wish him the best. Paradigm chases anything it can when they leave a big Agency and it never seems to work out. Funny, with a billion dollars at his disposal, Gores can’t seem to get it right. Maybe he should run for political office. They have billions too and can’t get it right!
So how many clients will be joining him wherever he lands???
Truth from an insider. Weird place. They don’t look for new or rising talent. They think they are CAA. They have lost five actors to pilots this season who ended up on the WME and CAA roster because they passed on them initially. Paradigm follows. I’d stay away if I were an actor.

Paradigm is an unfortunate mess of not very smart agents who are also not very nice people. There are some good eggs in there but the whole place doesn’t know what to make of itself.
How can people even say that about the agents at Paradigm? One of the few agencies where you don’t have to be a douchebag to succeed. Don’t forget they have only been around since 1992 but still compete with the big guys.
Who knows why Guillod was outed but the fact that he and Osborne were is a testament to the fact that Paradigm prides itself on a corporate culture with standards and integrity. Paradigm gave them multiple second chances and they failed to change their ways. Don’t hate.
Ok Sam, we all know this is you. Paradigm still competes with the big guys? They are a subsidiary of a real company, Platinum Equity. Sam is the retarded brother of a real entrepreneur, the only reason Paradigm stays in business is because Tom Gores is paying the tab. If Paradigm didn’t have the benefactor across the way then they would have been out of business two months after they opened. Then the Writers and Artists merger provided NO synergies. What was the point? To take the agency that the little napolean midget Norman fucked up (all the good clients left with Braunstein) and do what with it? No clients, no good agents (Steve Small, Norm, CLossey?) I’m surprised that Platinum Equity would have allowed something so stupid to happen.

David Guillod is an idiot and an asshole. The worst agent I have dealt with in over 15 years in Hollywood. He’s a huge disservice to his clients and any company he lands at.

I actually had a Paradgim agent tell me I had sold a pilot and to go celebrate only to backtrack a week later and say he “Misspoke”. Sam Gores has created a stable of mediocrity that is beyond compare.

But the point is a once Power Agent Jim Osbourne, or David G. in less then a few years and a few client defections becomes todays jokes and horrible people. They were behaving the same way at UTA and ICM in their heyday, but they had power in those days.
Sam Gores is famous for overpaying agents from Big Agencies,then wonders why they cannot hold on to their clients. Yes Paradigm has gotten better, its gone from a rotten turd, to just a turd. Sam Gores is Like the Hosni Mubarak of Agencies heads. He has lost all touch with reality with what it takes to be a day to day agent. Just heads off to his mansion, whether he wins or loses that week or day. I think his strategy is to out last the Gershes, if they die first Paradigm can move up a spot. At least Sam is half cool.
Lets talk about the Gersh’s. Have you ever seen a bigger family of Nerds then these people, I am including the grandson sorry. None of you are the old man Phil. Do you really believe that anyone of you would be an agent at a major agency. Bob would be a rank and file talent agent. David who is starting to look like an Alien, would be a pretty good Below the Line agent. Thats not saying much. And the grand kid Scooby Gersh would be working the copy machine at the old WMA.
Onto the new WME. Lisa Hallerman – who they hell is she, what pictures does she have on the higher ups. She has no clients and makes a seven figure salary. Was hated by 90% of UTA, and Ari treats her like she has value. Now Sheinwold comes over, and actually has 30 clients and has real value, so how does WME treat Sheinwold, they strip her of her title and Venit treats her like crap. Makes no sense. These arent people with MBA’s these are former shoe salesmen and community college grads who made it big. Then at WME they promote some dude Darwin Man who runs the why do they even have it Below the line dept. They put him in charge and he loses the top 30% of the list in less then a year. Who the hell is this guy, whose butt does he have his nose up. People keep bringing his name up as the worst feature BTL agent in the bizness, and I cant figure out why WME needs the dept if it sucks.
Onto UTA – Not going to make any fun of them this week. Any agency that can snag Gavin Palone away from WME(supposedly the strongest TV Agency) when Gavin was buddy buddy with Rick and Ari, and considering Gavin had once gone thru a multi million dollar law suit with UTA over sexual harrasment. Now that is Agenting!! You go UTA.
CAA – The best, are there any worthless people over there, doubt it.
ICM – I thought they had no directors left then they lost LEN WISEMAN to CAA, and i wasnt suprised CAA took him, I was surprised they still had directors.
APA – Who is that smurf that runs the place, come on, they get an A in effort, but that is one long haul!
Innovative – Are they even competing anymore, just a bargain basement volume business, didnt they leave lit business entirely?
Nikke, so lets wrap this up. If David G still had a few million dollar clients, he could still do all the womanizing and whatever the hell else he does. But when you lose your clients, they penalize you for your faults. Trust me Sam would sign Charlie Sheen faster then you can say Inheritance, and he would put out a quote that Charlie is the exact kind of talent that will lead Paradigm into the next decade. Then if Charlie hits rock bottom and cant get hired. He would then announce we have parted ways with Charlie, and then APA would sign Charlie.
Are we over this yet, its all boring, I want to know if anyone is competing with CAA. Cause as far as I can see the answer is a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
