In a face-off that is bound to feel awkward and uncomfortable, CNN’s Piers Morgan will interview his predecessor Larry King this week. The encounter comes on the heels of King’s statement last week that Morgan “may have been oversold” to American audiences. “He was going to be dangerous. He was going to be water cooler talk,” King told BBC Radio 4. “He’s good. He’s not that dangerous.”
In a statement, Morgan vaguely referenced the controversy. “I can’t think of many people I’d rather interview than Larry King, and I’m sure people will be fascinated by the dynamic between us, for obvious reasons,” he said.
Morgan was far snippier on Twitter. “May have to twang those suspenders to prove how dangerous I really am,” he wrote. And “Hope Larry remembers he has to sit on the right now.”

Who cares?
I do, i can’t wait to see this
CNN, put Morgan out of his misery already! Do you really think ratings will shift upwards from here? It’s a downward trajectory from here on out – Morgan is unlikeable (bottom-line) and unskilled. Pull the plug now; save yourself time.
“I’m sure people will be fascinated by the dynamic between us, for obvious reasons”
And the overselling continues…
Piers, Piers, Piers…if u want to give yourself half a shot of ur show working, PLEASE stop interupting your guests when they are speaking.
The show is not about you. No one cares about “if it was me, I would…” People tune in because of your guests. U are quite self absorbed but so is every other person I work with who live to be in front of the camera, so I won’t attack u for that – just stop interupting.
Of all the stupid decisions by Piers Morgan’s genius production staff: You are supposed to be trying to show differences from the way the 89-10 hour on CNN is and you go back to the more of the same.
This shows absolute desperateness. These folks are wandering.
RightWingWhacko, despite your name, that is a very, very shrewd post. It is a booking move that reveals complete desperation. Good point!
CNN is running home to Papa….well Grandpapa anyway.
So much time has been put into promoting Piers Morgan. Not to mention the money. There was replacement for Larry King. Why market Piers as a replacement? Larry King told a BBC radio show on Thursday that his successor, Piers Morgan, “may have been oversold” This seems to be a given with Morgan’s interview surrounding Donald Trump. Instead of getting more answers from Trump, Morgan turned to self-promotion. This made Morgan come off as desperate. Pity, he has experience. Piers Morgan knows better. Get great interviews. Collect stories the public can admire (from those outstanding interviews). Then allow the viewers to enjoy your show. Stop trying to be great, use your talent. Stop trying. Get the interview. Collect the story. Let us like you. Self-promotion at your level in the media is shameless. You come off as a rookie sophmore instead of a professor with an advance degree in journalism. Be Piers Morgan.

Assuming the Sarah you want to be president is not Ferguson but Palin, your advice to Piers is hysterically funny:
“Self-promotion at your level in the media is shameless.”
And the rest of your sophomoric advice is ironic too.
Morgan interviewing Larry King?
Didn’t take long to run out of guests.
CNN canned King because he’s old, an ass kisser, and ratings loser. Now Morgan’s giving him MORE airtime to say…what?
To drum up some staggeringly inconsequential PR feud between a has-been old fart and a soon-to-be-has-been celebrity ass-kissing pompous buffoon?
CNN deserves to go bankrupt.
Be still my heart…what excitement!
Next, Piers will do an interview with himself…his staff will title the show… Piersturbation.
This is really gonna put me to sleep… It’s just pathetic. Larry, go back to your wife and please leave us alone. You are no longer relevant. Can you accept this?
The showrunners on this are becoming desperate. They can see the end.
He should look at getting Sara Ferguson with her take on the upcoming wedding she is not invited to…other guests rather than Larry, it just seems weird to have Larry on. What would they talk about. So many people to interview, and that is it, interview, it is about them. The interview with Oprah, I did not enjoy – strained, and full of self promotion. It is unfortunate because he is talented and likable just needs to stop trying so hard.
Piers Morgan won’t be sitting in that chair in tow year when his guarantee if over. Ken Jautz inherited this loser and he is WAY too smart to allow this folly to go on forever. There is no one worse on TV than Piers. Wendy Williams is better
CNN should let Larry back in and change the locks on the door. Piers Morgan is the single biggest screwup I’ve seen in broadcasting. It’s startingly how dumb he is. I would have thought maybe he’d have read a bit, but noooooo, he’s a drooling moron. I love how Nancy Grace’s extra hour is killing Morgan’s show ratings-wise. Serves him right. Soledad O’Brien should have gotten King’s job. CNN had a star under their nose and made the wrong choice. They should cut their losses quick.
AMEN!!!!!
Just bring Larry King back!
Piers needs to tone down his condescending attitude. He is not on fox news.
He seems like a well informed guy but he gives out this really negative vibe as a know-it-all.
I’m not sure the core audience of CNN appreciates this kind of attitude.
It still baffles me why CNN, who prides themselves on being a more “high brow”, high quality news channel, would hire one of the most egotistical, pompous, delusional and truly UNTALENTED ‘personalities’ around!!!! In the UK he ran the most low brow, trashy tabloid news rag on the market and then went on to star in Simon Cowels C2DE demographic wet dream ‘…Got Talent’ show, before starting a mind numbing interview programme on ITV!!(the home of lowest-common-denominator tv) Thank GOD that America are coming round to how crap he is, and that his ratings are embarrassing! WAKE UP CNN!!!!!!!!!!
Oversold1 – you are a snob! C2Ds abound and watch lots of telly! Hooray for the great unwashed! They also still buy newspapers, food, cars, go to the movies, etc.
You on the other hand, probably sit around a single light bulb, covered in dust, warming your hands over its glow.
TV caters to those that consume it. I’d settle down with a cup of cocoa and a good book, you’ll find it less scary.
Oh Piers, Piers, Piers…
(1) Never put out a statement referring to one’s self and the fascination we supposedly hold over the dynamic you have with Larry King.
(2) Twanging the suspenders of an 80 year old man does not make you look dangerous, its evidence of some weird sexual fetish. Wanna be dangerous? Pull out a knife and stab Larry in the hand, pinning him to the desk, while you ask about his marriages. THAT I might watch.
