Production on the hit CBS drama series NCIS was suspended today after a security guard working for the show died after being hit by a van. The accident happened while the show was on location in Santa Clarita for scenes that features several actors but not star Mark Harmon. The guard was struck at “base camp” used by the cast and crew for the shoot when the driver of a van lost control of the vehicle, reportedly after passing out, and ran over the guard. The 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“Everyone at the network, the studio and NCIS is devastated by the news,” CBS and NCIS producer CBS TV Studios said in a statement. “Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss.” The network and the studio said they are cooperating with the local authorities in Santa Clarita to help determine the cause of the accident.
Shooting at the location where the tragedy happened had already wrapped but the show canceled the planned filming for the rest of the day. Production on NCIS is expected to resume tomorrow.

Not to sound callous, but you know the studio is thinking, “Good thing it was just a security guard.” Hollywood is so cruel and effed up. You gotta love it here!
Onward and upward, people.
Well, at least you weren’t callous.
I think I find it sadder that you feel so holier than though for posting something that is probably completely untrue. You sound callous but assuming something like this. If you want onward and upward, why don’t you lift yourself above calling people out for something that likely didn’t happen, and if it did, does it really necessitate your cold-hearted comment?
Actually, callous is exactly how you sound and it’s you, Robin, that is “cruel and effed up.”
This is a tragedy for his family and friends not an excuse for you to snark on Hollywood.
You may be anonymous but you have revealed your true (lack of) character.
NCIS is the most egalitarian production in Hollywood. Mark Harmon himself makes sure that everyone, even security guards, are treated equally and with respect.
My condolences to the family of the victim of this tragic accident.
No that doesn’t sound callous at all..
Uh…yeah…uh…”not to sound callous”….
A human life was taken, Robin.
Wouldn’t it be a more heartfelt and authentic studio press release if they mentioned the guard’s NAME? As in a real person just died tragically?
My Thought and prayers go to the family and to NCIS I pray from them hope to find peace
god bless you
That’s an all around well thought out blog post..
