Len Lesser, the veteran character actor best known for his role as Jerry Seinfeld’s cantankerous uncle Leo on NBC’s Seinfeld, has died. He was 88. Lesser, who most recently appeared in an episode of ABC’s Castle, died Wednesday in Burbank from cancer-related pneumonia.

R.I.P. Len Lesser. You created two very memorable sitcom characters and memorable catch phrases. Will always love Uncle Leo “Jerry, hello” from Seinfeld. Also, Garvin from Everybody Loves Raymond “Hey, Ray’s here”. Great comic character actor.
Swarm! Swarm! To this day that episode of “Seinfeld” still makes me laugh out loud.
RIP Mr Lesser, watching you ply your craft w/ such ease & hilarity will be remembered for years to come.
Rest In Peace Uncle Leo !!!
One of the best parts of Seinfeld. Awesome in Papillon & Death Hunt! RIP Mr. Lesser!
JERRY, HELLO!!!!!!
Resist the “R.I.P.”! USE YOUR BRAINS.
R.I.P. Uncle Len
Len Lesser was almost related to me. He was a cousin to my uncle Morris Weinerman. I never met him but heard many stories about him. He will be sorely missed.

Loved seeing Uncle Leo at the SAG membership meetings, back when there was a reason to go to them.
I recently met Len Lesser after a production of Clifford Odets’ Awake & Sing at a Noise Within Theatre and he was gracious, kind, and personable.
He will be missed.
He was friends with a friend of mine and used to come out and go hiking with us about 13 or 14 years ago. Always fun, always warm and lots of great stories to tell. Guys like him will always be missed.
About 8 years ago or so I was waiting to be seated at Mishima and I hear this guy complaining about having to wait because he has a 4am call time in the morning.
I turn around and it’s Len with his wife.
He was about 80 then I guess.
We chat for a few minutes and I give him a hard time for being out at 8pm when he has such an early call time.
“Can’t help it. I love sushi. I’ve never missed a call time in my life though. I’ll nap in make-up.” he said.
I laughed and gave them my table.
Had to after that.
Life lesson from Len that day: Never waste a minute not living.
RIP Len Lesser – Uncle Leo was such a great character – the Bookstore and The Package were such brilliant episodes largely thanks to him!
“you were to busy stealing a book!”
“you still say hello!”
Loved him on Everybody Loves Raymond as Garvin. He added alot to the show with being one of Frank’s lodge buddies. He will be missed.
Mr. Lesser was in two of my Top 10 all-time fav movies: Kelly’s Heroes and The Outlaw Josie Wales. I’ll always remember those performances!
RIP
If we should be so luck to get that age and dress so well.
Drum roll, cymbal, two snaps up and all that comedy.
So long, thanks for the laughs.
The guy was a comic genius and, from all the comments I’m reading here, a real mensch.
