Nancy Carr, SVP corporate communications for Hallmark Channels, died today after suddenly falling ill earlier this week. She was 50. Carr, a 20-year PR veteran, joined Hallmark in 2005 as VP corporate communications. Before that, she spent 15 years at CBS, rising to VP communications where she oversaw publicity for the network’s movies and miniseries as well as such series as CSI, CSI: Miami, Everybody Loves Raymond and Without a Trace. Carr served on the Board of Governors of the TV Academy and served as treasurer of the TV Publicity Executives Committee. She was also very passionate about cat rescue. There will be no service, however people are invited to make a donation to two organizations which Nancy supported and meant a lot to her: feralcatcaretakers.org and fixnation.org.
“Hallmark Channels is saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Nancy Carr,” the company’s president and CEO Bill Abbott said. “We are grateful to Nancy for guiding the company’s corporate media strategy for more than five years. On the personal side, those of us who cared deeply for and about Nancy will never forget her dedication to life’s smallest creatures, as she worked tirelessly for animal rights and animal rescue. The company sends deep and sincere condolences to Nancy’s family.”
“It’s a very sad day,” Carr’s former colleagues at CBS’ communications department said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with her husband, Ronnie and her family. We’ll remember Nancy as the architect behind some of CBS’s biggest mini-series and live events campaigns, as well as, an exceptionally dedicated colleague and most importantly, a kind and caring person.”
Carr is survived by her husband, Ronnie Bradford, her brother, Michael, and a stepdaughter.

My mom is the same age, which is too young to die! RIP Nancy.
I can’t imagine the world without my friend, Nancy.
Nancy was a tireless champion at the Television Academy. She was so inspiring as a Governor. She touched so many with her integrity and commitment. This is very sad news. She was a wonderful person.
Nancy was a true gem and her love for animals was a testament to her humanity and good nature. She’ll be missed
Yes, she will.
Nancy, I will miss you. You were my first teacher in this business. We are at a loss without you.
Nancy Carr was supremely dedicated to her profession … and just a superb individual. A major, deeply saddening loss on every count possible.
Incredibly sad.
How young and how very sad………
Tragic on so many levels, she had a magnificent heart and her bravery was truly a profound inspiration. If anyone hears that someone is stepping up to care for her beloved cat colony, or if there is somewhere chosen to accept donations in her memory, please post the info.
Russell
I assume you mean the colony where I work. I got involved with looking after that colony about 11 years ago, when Nancy discovered the problems we were having with ferals as she would go to park for USC Football games.
Still can’t believe this. I feel horrible. She was just a great great person, and during all this time of battling, I never recall her being anything but outright cheerful. Her bravery was just mind-boggling throughout her entire ordeal. My condolences go out to Ronnie and the rest of Nancy’s family.
I am looking after that colony and will continue to do so. I have to admit though, it feels very different now.
It will feel different, but please know how much you were adored and loved for helping the way you do with those cats. Nancy is sitting up there across the Rainbow Bridge with all those who went before her and she knows her beloved kitties are in good hands. You are a caretaker too. Take care of yourself. This is a big void and sad loss.
Jon — I see now I don’t have to worry and the colony is in good hands. Thanks to you for the support you gave Nancy. She never stopped singing your praises and though of you as an angel.
Terri, you are also an angel for being who you are and what was done this afternoon. I agree with you about Jon. Knowing those beloved cats are in his hands makes this a bit easier. Nancy did not know her time was at the end when she left us, but I know her spirit can be at peace with knowing those she loved are cared for. <3

Nancy is my Step-Mom and she was the nicest most caring person. I Love her so much and she will always be with me!
Leslie, so sorry for your loss.
Your step-mother was a great woman.
I’ve known Nancy for two decades…maybe even longer. I never heard anyone say a bad word about her…and in this business, that is one incredible statement.
My sincerest condolences.
dear leslie…for all the years she and i worked together at CBS, nancy was a bright, warm light and a wonderful friend to me. the last time we had lunch, about a year ago, she was so happy with her life, and i know you and ronnie were integral to that happiness. please accept my deepest condolences, and share them with your dad.
Hi Leslie,
I have never met you but I know how much Nancy loved you. I am so sorry for your loss. You have an amazing dad, and I hope you and the rest of your loved ones will continue to shine the light that was Nancy. I have cared for their ‘babies’ for about a decade now and I know your dad will benefit from the kitties company as much as they will of his. It’s all about love and even if this feels so unnecessary, having lost a woman that was far too young and did so much good, we have to keep her light shining.
So sorry to hear this news. Nancy was a terrific person, easy to work with, kind and creative.
Tragic on so many levels. She had a magnificent heart and was a profound inspiration. She will be greatly missed.
Nancy was a sweet, compassionate and caring person. She was giving in every way and a very special person to work with. This is truly sad.

Nancy was the bravest person I ever met. For the past 10 years, she defied all odds and fought the good fight, never once complaining, and never feeling sorry for herself. I will miss you, my friend. You made me a better person.
Here, HERE!
I am just speechless. This is horrible. She was a lovely lady and I really enjoyed working with her. My sympathies to her family.
I am so sorry.
Nancy was always so sweet and professional. Way too soon. She will be incredibly missed.
Nancy was incredibly brave the last 10 years, and no matter what she was going through, she was there for you if you needed her, or needed support. She was one of the kindest, most generous people I know and was a damned good publicist too. She was very lucky to have Ronnie by her side, and my heart goes out to him right now. Nancy, you have so many friends who are grieving right now, but you made our lives (and the lives of many, many cats) better. God Bless You.
@Russell – per the article “people are invited to make a donation to two organizations which Nancy supported and meant a lot to her: feralcatcaretakers.org and fixnation.org.” R.I.P.
Nancy Dear…wherever you are, I know the Diet Coke is flowing, the croutons are voluminous and on-the-side, and the Angels are asking you to “…speak more slowly!”, so as not to lose a word. Girly-Girl and Bunky are ok; the rest of us are lost without you. Lay down The Four Agreements, Nancy. You kept them all magnificently!
Thank you for remembering Nancy, Nellie. She adored you. Just one week ago, we had dinner with Nancy in West Hollywood. She looked like the “comeback kid.” It was a “God-thing” that we got to see her, laugh with her, hug and kiss her. None of us knew it would be the last time. I’ll always be so grateful for that moment in time that brought us all together. xx
R.I.P., I just can’t imagine not seeing Nancy anymore. It is especially very difficult for my family and I, since she was my next door neighbor! Nancy and Ronnie have been a great Neighbor and friends. She was inspiring, kind, generous, caring. Our condulences to Ronnie and her family. I love you Nancy and we will never forget you <3
Nancy was not only great at her job but a terrific friend and colleague. I’ll never forget the excellent time we had dancing at a B 52′s concert in Atlanta during The Cable Show. And of course the kindness she showed me during a number of my trips to LA. She will be greatly missed!
Nancy Carr was a classy lady and wonderful to her core. It breaks my heart that she was taken from her family at such a young age. We worked together years ago, but on the brief occasions we would run into each other, she was always thoughtful and generous. She was a fantastic, tireless publicist, and an even better person. My sincerest condolences to her family.
