The O.C. alumna Rachel Bilson will reunite with the show’s creator-executive producer Josh Schwartz this pilot season after all. Bilson is close to a deal to star in the CW hourlong pilot Hart of Dixie, from WBTV and Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire. The project is a comedic drama centered on a young New York City doctor (Bilson) who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic and eccentric group of characters. Leila Gerstein penned the script and is exec producing with Schwartz, Savage and Len Goldstein. Earlier this development season, Bilson was attached to star in Ghost Angeles, a supernatural romantic comedy co-written by Schwartz. The project landed at NBC in September with a pilot production commitment, but new NBC chief Bob Greenblatt recently opted not to go forward with it. Bilson has done arcs on Schwartz’s NBC dramedy Chuck and on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, on which she played a love interest for Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor). Hart of Dixie expands Schwartz and Savage’s relationship with the CW where the two created and executive produce Gossip Girl.

This is perfect for Rachel. It sounds like “Sweet Home Alabama” which is exactly the kind of thing Bilson would be great at. And she gets as many magazine covers as the other CW ladies so it seems like a good fit. Sounds way better than the Ghost show.

Wasn’t Rachel’s 15 minutes up 20 minutes ago? Everything she’s touched since O.C. is doomed. Yet she manages to be in every fan site known to man every day….I think she calls the paparazzi and tells them her daily schedule. If you want your pilot doomed to the trash heap, cast rachel!
She pays money to only one site. That is Just Jared. People in the comments section there laugh from it for a year now. Because she hires personal photographer, poses for him on street, then sends those pictures to Just Jared. Along with check. And he puts her non-stories daily on his site. Even mighty Brangelina might appear once in a 3 days on that site. But he puts that Rachel Bilson chick pictures every day.
That’s why I actually can’t stand her. Before that she was no one. Just some F-list actress. I didn’t care about her. But when I come to Just Jared to see new pictures of celebrities and he throws to my face Rachel Bilson’s face every 7-8 posts that’s when I begin to really hate that chick.
Hon, chill out. Nobody’s throwing anyone in your face. If you don’t like her than go and look at pictures and read about someone you do like. Just skip who you don’t like. It’s that simple. Really it is.
I have been a big fan of Rachel since she stole the show on The O.C., and I don’t doubt that she’s going to charm everyone again this time around!

Rachel Bilson playing a doctor? Shopaholic maybe, ditzy teenager yes, but doctor? Watch her interviews. Her vocabulary is very limited. Cute, charming, but doesn’t project intelligence onscreen.
I agree that she should fire her reps, especially that agent with zero class. Bilson is beautiful, but she’s not exactly the best actress around town. I guess the truth is coming out and tv is her only option at this point?

Rachel was super charming in Chuck and I’ve been hoping to see more of her whether in movies or television. This is good news for me.
Why do all these shows created by women, starring women, just end up being so AWFUL? Jesus. The only one I can think of recently that was helmed by a woman and starred some women was Caprica. Now THAT was a good show. Make more of that, ladies, not this…drivel.
This girl is completely forgettable to me, but so is everything Josh Schwartz touches so maybe it’s a match made in heaven.
Remember when the CW was the WB and did some witty fun stuff like Buffy, Gilmore Girls and Felicity? I don’t think teen girls have gotten dumber, but the network has certainly dumbed down their programming.
Completely forgettable? First season, The OC is like the Citizen Cane for teen shows. That was a phenomenon. Buffy, Gilmore Girls and Felicity might have nice followings but none have the cultural impact that the OC did. So, let that be a warning, if anyone has anything negative to say about Josh Schwartz or Rachel Bilson.
Its nothing like where you live. And nothing like what you imagine.

I know its Citizen Kane. I made a mistake, ok? What if I had mild dyslexia? I don’t but still.
I sat through it in the History of American Motion Pictures class like everyone else. Its not a rare find. I’m just using it in the sense that the OC first season is untouchable as far as teen show hall of fame. 90210 original, The OC, My So-Called Life (wasn’t for me but…).
I’m just more a fan or the edgier Fox teen shows than the whiny WB shows. Even though Felicity pilot was really well-written and I do love Kevin Wiliamson, I just am pretty anti-Dawson’s Creek. Popular was pretty funny too. Buffy from what I saw I liked.

Who on earth would hire this charisma free doll as a lead actor? How on earth they think that she can lead TV show on her own shoulders and that people would turn in to see her?
Wow, what an ‘original’ idea, big city girl/guy lands in a small town with ‘quirky” character. Let me guess – there will be a nerdy guy, guy(s) in plaid shirts, a stud guy/love interest with beard stubble, some ‘old folks, a fat friend and maybe a fellow doctor who was a trauma MD somewhere and a ‘techie girl/guy’ who will have tattoos & little rectangular eye glasses. And of course there will be some kind of annoying ‘chick/happy chick’ music in the background. Oh – and of course Bilson will drive a Prius.
