This is a good way for a bubble show to finish the season. Fox’s Human Target popped up on Monday last night and drew a 2.1/6 in 18-49 and 7.8 million viewers at 8 PM, up 75% in the demo from its last telecast in the Friday 8 PM slot and up 24% from its last airing in its former regular Wednesday 8 PM berth. Fox had several extra original episodes of the comic book adaptation series left, so it put 2 on Fridays and then subbed a House repeat with another one last night. That last stint proved surprisingly successful, lifting Human Target to season highs in 18-49 and total viewers. And those highs may soon be surpassed as the show’s last 2 episodes of the season are set to air behind American Idol on Wednesdays. Fox’s Lie to Me (2.2/5) had a solid season finale. It was down 12% from last week’s inexplicable season high when the show posted 39% week-to-week ratings jump but Lie to Me had an original House as a lead-in then that almost doubled Human Target‘s numbers from last night. It was Lie to Me‘s second highest-rated episode this season (a tie), and the drama was up 16% from its Season 2 finale, which aired in August.
NBC’s midseason series Harry’s Law (2.1, 10.8 million) held steady in Week 3, even with its Week 2 demo rating, off only by a tenth from its premiere and once again the top-rated NBC series on the night. It also won the 10 PM hour in both 18-49 and total viewers. However, David E. Kelley’s legal dramedy is yet to face all-original competition. It aired against repeats of Hawaii Five-0 and Castle last night and a mix of original/repeat of the CBS and ABC series for its first two airings. NBC’s Chuck (1.7/5) was down 11% from last week to match its season low. It was a puzzling drop as the show had one of the most eventful episodes of the season, complete with the resolution of the big season-long Volkoff story arc, a new baby and a marriage proposal. Freshman The Cape (1.5/4) was down 6% for a series low.
ABC’s two-hour The Bachelor (3.2/8) was up 10% from last week for a season high. Even with Castle in repeat (1.7/5), ABC won the night in 18-49 (2.7/6) and total viewers (8.4 million). With all-repeats, CBS (2.4/6, 8.2 million) still managed to finish second, paced once again by top performer Two and a Half Men (3.1/8, 11.2 million). CBS must be loving those repeat numbers for Men as the network will have to use more repeats of the show in the coming weeks as production of the show was shut down to accommodate star Charlie Sheen’s rehab treatment.

human target may be popular with the football crowd….
Human Target is one of the few shows I can watch with my sons. Hope fox keeps it — its the six million dollar man of this generation.
I agree, Guererro! Hopefully Fox will order new episodes for next season.
Watched “Harry’s Law” for the first time. It was just ok. “Boston Legal” it is not. Once you get past Harry’s character saying “asshole” or “prick” on network TV, there’s not a whole lot going on. Maybe last night’s case just wasn’t compelling. I’ll give it another shot.
I hae really been enjoying Harry’s Law and glad to see it doing well in the ratings. I don’t think it’s DEK’s best work but it’s been a good show with the usual sharp DEK writing and great acting.
Glad to see Human Target is finally reaching an audience. Fox has certainly done it no favors this season- from delaying the start until late November to burning through remaining episodes and now shuffling it all over the schedule.
Of course, then there are the forced creative changes which have proven unpopular with fans and critics (ie. new theme; additional cast members; less “mythology”). Despite all this, the show seems to have found its stride with the last 4 or 5 episodes. If it’s going to go down, at least it will get to do so swinging in front of an audience.
I’m really surprised anybody watches Human Target.
Human Target took a risk adding a couple characters this season – and succeeded! This show is better than Burn Notice and almost as delightful as Leverage! I hope it keeps getting better and better. Mark Valley has deserved a hit as leading man ever since Keen Eddie graced the airwaves/wires.
Better than Burn Notice? You can’t be serious.
Couldn’t agree with you more.
Mark Valley has a twinkle in his eye, the right kind of swagger and a dryness to his delivery that hasn’t been seen for a long time, but used to be the trade mark stamp of most sharp New Yorkers. Clever irony, more of it.
The Keen Eddie series was a gem and they pulled it before anyone even knew of it’s existence – what a waste. Let’s hope they don’t let this one slide through the cracks so quickly!!
What Is Burn Notice?
LOL
Ack, can’t believe I missed it. Love Human Target, it has gotten better and better.
I’m glad Harry’s Law isn’t Boston Legal because Boston Legal was a piece of shit! Hated the pilot for Harry’s Law with a vengeance (one cliche after another) but with the addition of Christopher McDonald, the show is getting good. Of course, with the marvelous Kathy Bates in the lead role, the show would be D.O.A.
Interesting. I haven’t watched anything other than the pilot but I really hated it. It seemed like David E. Kelly, Kathy Bates and Nate Corddry were all making three different shows on the same camera. But if it’s improved perhaps I should give it another shot.
How could you ever deem Boston Legal to be effluage. You must have been watching an altogether different show.
I guess it was because it had extremely clever dialogue – words with sometimes more than four syllables, social messages galore that lashed out at a hypocritical, big brother establishment and more than competent performers that you couldn’t relate to.
Still, for you…….there is always such a thing as basic reality tv. Lap it up!
Chalk me up as someone who’s cool with the women on TARGET. They bring additional flavors to the show, and give the three men someone to verbally spar with other than themselves. I agree the old theme was better, but that’s small potatoes. I hope Fox picks it up for a full 22 next year.
And yes, HARRY isn’t BOSTON LEGAL, but what could be? That was a once-in-a-generation moment where all the stars (literal and metaphoric) came together to achieve absolute perfection. But HARRY is still damn good…though they make absolutely no attempt to make you believe you’re in Cincinnati–the intersection of Middlesex and Beacon? Oy!
LOVE Harry’s Law….and yes, Chris McDonald is such a perfect antagonist in every role he plays. Same with the bald doc from ER, who’s the DA on Harry’s.
Kathy just carries such weight and screen-presence, you have to love her and her acting skills.
I really enjoy Human Target–I just wish FOX would stop treating it like the red-headed stepchild and give it a better chance then shuffling it around. I believe another episode (new) is on Wednesday.
Come on FOX–renew it!
Message to the “hey, we got this weeks charts and graphs” folks over at NBC:
Stop behaving like the CW and stop receiving CW like ratings.
Les is smart, stop specifically targeting certain trendy demo numbers and you’ll still win your 18-49 and overall viewers.
Crap, I mean having never actually seen the show I knew it would be a hit from watching the promo’s.
FOX…….. KEEP HUMAN TARGET!!!
My whole family has watched it from the first show and we love it.
Wow if u even kinda like Human target burn notice would be the new favorite, I think leverage has been lagging though
The “Target” is my favorite show, but this season it has dipped with less than stellar scripts. Trading quips while people with guns are shooting at you may work once, but it seems it has become the norm. The sense of real danger is replaced with farcial high camp. I love the cast, but it needs to have just a slightly darker tone to it.
BUT,it is a great show and I hope FOX brings it back!!!!
I enjoy Human Target. Like all things Fox – any decent shows they have get moved around too much. I never know when they are on; which makes it difficult to support their ratings. Let’s hope Fox learns better management and gives Human Target a home night so we can continue to watch and enjoy!
I Love Human Target , please keep it. Best show since 24, my family an coworkers love it
Love HUMAN TARGET!!!!
Everyone I know watches it with their families and we will be very unhappy if it doesn’t come back for season 3
