UPDATED: Prison Break alum Silas Weir Mitchell has landed a lead role opposite David Giuntoli in NBC’s drama pilot Grimm. Created by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf and to be directed by Marc Buckland, Grimm is described as a dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist. It centers on Nick Burckhardt (Giuntoli), a good-looking detective who starts to see humans as beast/animals and discovered that he has a legacy – to protect “humans” from these beasts. Mitchell will play Eddie Monroe, a reformed big bad wolf who has tamed his murderous instincts through a strict regimen of diet and Pilates. He starts helping Nick with his cases. Mitchell, repped by Greene & Assoc., also recurred on NBC’s My Name Is Earl and will next be seen in the feature Heaven’s Rain.
Better Off Ted alum Malcolm Barrett has booked a role in ABC’s comedy pilot Other People’s Kids, which centers on Adam, a 32-year-old guy with no responsibilities who suddenly finds himself with an insta-family when he falls in love with an older woman who has 2 kids, an ex-husband, and ex-in-laws. Barrett will play Adam’s business partner and best friend. Barrett, repped by Gersh and Management 360, will next be seen in Larry Crowne and We the Peeples.
Joey King has been cast as Amanda Peet’s daughter in the NBC comedy pilot Bent. At age 11, King, managed by Industry, has an extensive feature resume. She played one of the title roles opposite Selena Gomez in Romona and Beezus, just wrapped Family Weekend opposite Kristin Chenoweth and will next be seen in Battle: Los Angeles and Crazy, Stupid, Love, playing Steve Carell’s daughter.

A reformed Big Bad Wolf working as a detective policing fairy tale characters in the modern world? This project has gone from being a vague rip-off of “Fables” to a rather blatant one.
Silas is a great actor. Happy for him.
I agree with 100%.
LOVE Malcolm Barrett. Great for him.
malcolm barrett was awesome in Better Off Ted, which was funny, original and prematurely ended. best of luck to Mr. barett.
Malcolm Barrett is one of the funniest actors in Hollywood. BETTER OFF TED was one of the best comedies on TV, and glad to see they’re bringing someone from that show back to the network.
Oh yeah…Hollywood just SCREAMS originality! I say with this start to a cast, it will be a vast improvement!
Ok what is the deal with the black “best friend” in tv/movies nowadays? Who are these black people with no lives or lovers or families of their own who exist to be the confidante to the white stars of the show/movie? This is really tired and I’m growing sick of it.
As a black actor I’ll take being the Best Friend of the white main character than not be employed at all.
“Acting has rarely been a reputable profession, but it is a very old one, and though its adherents may be lured by love, they – and we measure their worth in baser currency. ” – A.O Scott (NYT)
Silas is a nice guy. Great news for him.
Don’t say insta-family.
