Summit Entertainment continues its prolific book rights buying as it nears a deal for the Veronica Roth novel Divergent, with Red Wagon partners Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher attached to produce. The book is compared to The Hunger Games because of the age of the characters and the violence that takes place in a futuristic setting. This tale takes place in a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into factions based on human traits. A 16-year old leaves her faction to join a rival faction, but during the violent initiation into the new faction, she falls in love with a young man and they try to find their place in this rough world. The book will be published by Katherine Tegen Books, a division of HarperCollins Children’s Books. More to come on this one.

Interesting to see this take on dystopian future. Count me in.
sounds cool. smart move for summit.
Who will be cast as the girl?
I am hoping for Abigail Breslin.
Sounds interesting. When does the book launch?
I cannot wait for this book to come out! Everything I’ve heard about it sounds like this will totally dominate The Hunger Games. It’s like Harry Potter meets Battle Royale!
Let me guess–same cast of girls will be up for this as is always up for these. How about casting some new talent for once?
Yay for Veronica Roth! Clearly, this book’s going to be killer.
Honest to God I am in love with this book. I want to portray Tris! The role is pretty much perfect for me!!!
Sorry but i dont think Divergent will dominate HG cause it isnt as deep and complex in my opinion hope the movie woud be good though.
