I have a feeling that both the Thor and Captain America movies are being rushed out, and will be mediocre, just so they can fast-track the Avengers movie. I mean, the Captain America poster says “AVENGE” right across it.
It looks amazing. Films are never rushed. They take forever.
It looks amazing. Films are rarely rushed. They take forever.
The folks at production folks at THOR have been working on it since October ’08. Hardly call that a rush.
After seeing the EFX of both, I’d call it a rush…
I feel bad for the actors in both of these… studio is gonna blame it on them not being able to open the movie.
Talk to Brandon Routh.
The reason why it has Avenge on it is because it’ll be marketed overseas as The First Avenger. I’m not quite sure what you were expecting, but the room of 100 I saw it in loved them both, esp Captain America. Can’t Wait !!!
At least it doesn’t say “AVERAGE” right across it.
Although, yes, kinda looks that way.
Thor looks pretty great, though.
Hard to judge in 30 seconds, but I like what’s here.
so captain avenger is a skinny wuss before he becomes a super soldier? not how i’d imagine an all-american hero to be. they got that totally wrong.
That’s how it’s always been in the comics. Steve Rogers was too scrawny to be in the army, but wanted to do his part for Uncle Sam!
Well it’s a good thing a someone who knows nothing about story like you didn’t write it then.
Chris Evans has always had a great body, but he looks way too voluptuous here. More Billy Doll than GI Joe if you know what I mean.
Skinny Chris Evans?? Now THAT’S what I call special effects.
All in all, I really can’t wait to see this one.
P.S.–Red Skull looks insane!!!
For comparison, Tim Roth looked pretty ridiculous and out of sync in the Incredible Hulk with his CG enhanced physique composited on top of his head. They just didn’t gel, with Roth being a small guy by nature. The few seconds here of a skinny Evans seem to look slightly better.
Its hard to judge fully, but man I gotta feeling this is going to be one of those four quadrant monsters at the box office. A period Super Hero movie set WWII. I can’t wait. Bring it on.
Alboone, i agree. Watching the ‘Captain America’ trailer, with its World War II-era milieu and action sequences, I got the positive feel of a movie I loved as a boy — ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ …. and given the dreck Hollywood has been putting out of late it’s a good feeling I have not had in a looooong time. I guess we just have to wait and see if this trailer is a harbinger of positivity or anomalous.
I truly think this run of comic book adaptations have finally come to its end. I think Thor and Captain America will if not tank, perform poorly. They had a good run, but frankly, not one of them have been keepers and you can only play to people who breathe through their mouth for so long. It’s already ended. Now with the taste for smarter fare whetted by Insomnia, Black swan etc perhaps we might finally be going back to the glory days of the 70′s when art and commerce fused. I’ve waited 39 years for this.
