EXCLUSIVE: TBS’ first hourlong comedy series Glory Daze will not be returning for a second season. The cable network has opted not to renew the once-promising fraternity comedy from creators/executive producers Walt Becker and Michael LeSieur, about a group of friends who are trying to navigate college life in 1980s Wisconsin.
The nine-episode first season of the show had a quiet run, premiering with a soft 1.8 million viewers and a 1.0/3 in 18-49 in November and gradually slipping to wrap with a 1.1 million viewers last month. The show did get a sizable boost from DVR viewership and had a very low median age (just north of 25), but that probably wasn’t enough to keep it from cancellation. One of the actors on the show, Chris D’Elia, just booked a pilot, NBC’s untitled Whitney Cummings comedy. TBS is staying in the hourlong comedy genre with two new pilots, now in production: Hound Dogs and The Wedding Band.

Wow, what a letdown. I thought this show was fantastic. It was funny every single week. Way to drop a good show, TBS. Boooooo!
This was the worst show!! Episodes about shit, shant whatever and a baaaaaad ripoff of Top Gun — poorly written. Never watched again after that episode.
Are you kidding? That Top Gun episode was great. What a great nod to guys in 1986 signing up for the Navy because they wanted to be Maverick. Very original and funny.
Too bad. Some of the subplots were beyond dumb but I liked the characters, especially Meadows, Joel, and Julianna Guill’s Christy. I hope she ends up on another show ASAP. She is awesome and was underused in the show.
noooooooo! finally a truly funny 1-hour comedy…and then they take it all away from me. what is TBS doing???
A show about college without sex or profanity because of the network it’s on. Amazing the kids didn’t tune in.
I hope we at least get a DVD. I’d buy it for the Leprechaun episode alone!
RIP – you where a show I truly looked forward too…
I’m disappointed to see that it got cancelled. With the upcoming series finale of “Greek,” I guess college-based shows are becoming a thing of the past. That’s bad news for “90210″ because that cast is about to head off to college, but I hope they can break this unfortunate streak.
“Glory Daze” may be gone, but I’ll still keep a look out for Matt Bush, Drew Seeley, Kelly Blatz, Hartley Sawyer, Tim Meadows, and the rest of the cast.
Greek lasted several seasons and was actually good. Glory Days was not.
Greek lasted several seasons because it seems America is obsessed with drama and more drama which makes shows like jersey shore popular which I’m ashamed to say is part of our culture. I do not want people from other countries thinking we are really like that I hate trash tv!!!
There were some good aspects of this show, Stankowski and the Joel/Christie subplot-but it was too much of a fun show. I didnt say funny, although there were some humorous moments here and there, but just “fun”. Too PC, it didnt get the aura of a mid-80s college life. Hardly any drinking, no smoking-and I’m talking CIGERTTES-no one on campus or off seemed to ever SMOKE-and too much bromancing. It should have been a half-hour, cause too many eps seemed strecthed. Better luck nect time TBS!
It truely is a shame that choosing to invest in a show as an audience these days is like being scared to buy a golfish becuase youre unsure if it will live past a week. There are millions of active fraternity members in this country who would love this show, had it been properly advertised toward them. Not to mention the still involved former frat members who were living this show, where it takes place in 1987. I had faith that tbs was unlike the cold and heartless nbc, but I guess it truely is a cruel business as the show’s co-creator Mike Lesieur tweeted on February 24th, 2011. This one should have been a keeper. – Mike Dwyer, 21
Stankowski needs a spinoff series, he was one of the only redeeming qualities of this admittedly cheesy show.
IT’S ENBRAU!
I LOVED this show!! And I was soooo looking forward to season 2. First TBS cancels My Boys and now Glory Daze! C’mon!
They do not see the comedy people want anymore only what they want.
I mean like wow, like why get rid of that show I am 16 and have like 30,000 people in my town and all of my friends watched that show they loved it every one did. I think some one should look back into getting the cast of glory daze back on air. I was looking forward to have it on every Tuesday at 10:00p.m I really got rid of all my other shows and just put that one in there to record and now I do nothing on Tuesday.
We want Glory daze bring it back please
Amazing show BRING IT BACK!!!
I’t wasnt dumb enough for the average american to enjoy, the country is really bombing, when snooki is the best thing to watch on tv. Well lets just continue to cut the education budget and maybe the next show that will be a hit will be people farting really loud in public places. An hour of farts oh boy can’t wait. I guess well have to settle for louds of sex and fingers up the but from blue mtn state. Lots of non fart joke humor in that show !
loads*
This was a great show, one of my favorites on TV. Anyone that says otherwise is entitled to their own opinion but should just shut their mouths and go watch Grey’s Anatomy. It’s a shame TBS is just canning it, they are complete buffoons. They did advertise the show (to the point where I got an awesome Pint Glass at a bar Wrigleyville), but they failed to rerun episodes multiple times, which hurts anyone without DVR, or who forgot to set it because they were too high, drunk etc., but as a 26 y.o. Male and part of their target demographic I feel they pulled the plug to early and should have either tried another season, or sold the rights to another station al la Scrubs NBC to ABC move. A complete let down by a station that continues to air any Tyler Perry comedy with recycled scrips just because it wins “The Colored Demographic” (I’m sure that’s some suits reasoning).
Why do good shows always get cancelled while the majority of the rest of tv is crap? This was a great show, too bad it will only hit one season, while garbage like jersey shore is going into it’s fourth I believe. Guess I’ll just have to watch the ten or so reruns :/
I’m 21 and I’m in a sorority and all of my friends loved Glory Daze because we could relate to it and thought the stuff was hilarious most of us had to either dvr the show or buy it on iTunes though because of it’s timeslot.. I get the feeling most of y’all who said you didn’t like the show either don’t understand the Greek system, you don’t like to party, you’re old and boring, or maybe you can’t appreciate the 1980s fraternity idea..but we were all bummed to hear the show was cancelled especially after the show “Greek” turned out to be such a bad interpretation of greeklife..at least the writers of Glory Daze understand what a Total Frat Move is.
NO! Man, I was just doing a search on shows I wasn’t sure were being renewed or not (human target, V, etc) and just did a lookup on Glory Daze to make sure it was coming back and when! I can’t believe this is getting cancelled! My girlfriend and I watched this together and she was under a standing death threat if she watched this without me. I asked a few friends, who I knew would love it, if they had seen it and nobody had heard of it. I have the whole season on DVR so my buddy who house sit a few weeks ago could finish. The show failed because they failed to publicize it well. Sad.
What show are you talking about? Sounds horrible, you should watch Glory Daze…oh wait. He TBS advertizing, people who saw the show liked it. Look at the other crap being put out on other networks, this could’ve been great!
Promising show, developing a good fan base here in the UK too. Be wise TBS, bring it back at least for another season!
Glory Daze is Bloody amazing
You CANNOT cancel it, there’s no other GOOD comidies since the inbetweeners ended!!
DFTBA
TBS- You Are Complete Bunch Of Twats Who Do Not Understand The Meaning Of A Fucking Amazing Show
