After weeks of negotiations, Tim Allen has officially come onboard ABC’s comedy pilot written by Jack Burditt. The project, first known as Man Up and then renamed to The Last Day of Man, is now untitled. The multicamera show, from 20th TV and 21 Laps/Adelstein Prod., centers on a guy (Allen) fighting for his manhood in a world of women. Burditt is executive producing with Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy, Becky Clements as well as Allen and his managers Richard Baker and Rick Messina. The project landed at ABC in November as a potential starring vehicle for Allen. If it goes to series, the comedy will mark Allen’s return to primetime and to ABC where he starred in the long-running hit Home Improvement.

Tim Allen is a funny comedian and Jack Burditt is a great writer.
Agreed!
A funny script, a sit-com god, the right network. Expect to see Marty sitting courtside again. Sorry Ari.
And “Jack” the previous commentor is either: delusional or hoping for a job on this show which might last 22.
Allen is hilarious, loved “Home Improvement” but he may be getting a little too old to play a convincing “ladies man”.
I think “Man Up” is a damn good title, considering Tim Allen’s trademark style of comedy. And it’s good to see him back on TV. I’ll definitely tune in.
The Right Coast, Jack’s right. Jack Burditt is a great writer. He probably bases his opinion on Burditts work on 30 Rock.
With HILARIOUS Executive Producers like Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy, Becky Clements, Richard Baker and Rick Messina, how can this not be the funniest show EVER!!!! I mean, their comedy writing credentials need no introduction…
I feel bad for Jack Burditt… What a waste of the writing budget on a show that actually might be funny… but will now be reduced to hiring a few executive story editor teams because most of the money will be siphoned off by these irrelevant money hogs.
Doesn’t sound like it will fly
“a guy fighting for his manhood in a world of women”? I’d say a guy fighting with his hairdresser over the most unnatural shade of blonde available.
This had “FAIL” tattooed across its chest on its birthday.
Exactly. What says “manly” quite like those Ryan Seacrest highlights?
This couldn’t be as bad as the Paul Reiser pilot… could it? Some comedians need to quit while they’re ahead to save face.
“TellingItLike” – very, very funny and very, very true. Years ago I showed a young actor a room full of these clowns and said “that is what Hollywood has become.”
In any case, I saw Tim Allen not long ago at the Laugh Factory and felt he still had the chops. He merges age-related material into the more gender-centric concerns and pulls it off quite gamely.
If this show ever does air, expect Tim’s love interest(s) to be well-preserved gals in their mid-30′s-even though he’s pushing 60!
Cause there’s nothing funny about Tim Allen dating an old lady.
TV should flat out ban women over 35 from playing comedy, cause women aren’t funny-especially women over 35.
Tim Allen dates women half his age in real life-so why shouldn’t ABC make that a rule for their new sitcom.
He’s married in real life and on the show. But agreed, all women should be under the age of 35.
Dear Michael,
Realize that no one commented on your ridiculousness because it would just dignify your stupid, ignorant opinion. You are an idiot.
Jen, “no one commented”? You just did.
Idiots occasionally make sense.
Sarcasm eludes you.
I’ve always loved Tim Allen. Middle America will eat this up. So will I.
Biggest casting get of the season! Burditt is a great writer too. This could be HUGE.
This is the only comedy I’m excited about this season. Love Tim Allen.
I guess Tim’s directing career didn’t pan out. Pity.
bad pic of tim allen. looks like hes in his “santa clause” make up.
Allen should take on a TV series in which he’d play a father role again.
Photo makes him look like a contestant on Ru Pauls Drag Race.
What qualifies you to make a comment like that?
Burditt’s main credits according to another story I read are The Mike O’Malley Show and Inside Schwartz. How did he get this?
Tim Allen on ABC again? America will once again return to him. Agreed about that being a bad pic though.
What if Tim Allen takes Viagra because his wife wants sex but then he gets the days mixed up and has to go to his daughter’s piano recital?
If this can be made into an 8pm family comedy Tim Allen has it in the bag. We all have seen men having to push the baby stroller while their woman wears the pants in the family. I mean, come on ladies, which one of you really cares about the SuperBowl? If there was a 90% off sale at Neimans during the SuperBowl only which one would you go to? Oh, and let us not forget 80% of women send us guys two different signals at the same time… example: GF: I’m hungry, BF: where do you want to go for breakfast? GF: Anywhere you want to go. BF: Okay, to the Pancakehouse. GF: okay… let’s go to Jubajuice, I’m really not that hungry for solid food. On the way to Jubajuice your GF won’t speak to you… u ask her what is wrong… she says nothing is wrong. While at the Jubajuice counter your BF ask you what you want in your juice… she sulks and says …nothing. I’m not hungry anymore. She is pissed. Because he never let’s her pick the breakfast place. MAN scratch his head and says to himself I have just been two-signaled. If you add the family comedy element it will work… because nobody can keep a woman happy all the time. Not even Kobe Bryant… Vanessa: why do you have to sweat after you come off the court and hug me. You must be sweating on purpose just to annoy me. Kobe sighs.
one big shoulder shrug. Louis C.K. . .now he’s funny.
I think there’s a little mistake in the article : “Man Up” is an other ABC comedy pilot written by Christopher Moynihan.
