The hot role for young actors right now is the lead in The Bourne Identity spinoff that will start production this fall with Tony Gilroy directing his script for Universal. Here are the names I’ve heard have met with Gilroy or are otherwise in the mix: Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, Taylor Kitsch, Benjamin Walker. Gilroy will pare the list quickly. Several of the actors might have availability issues. Stay tuned.

Just as I expected, all white actors. Its a spin off, the character does not have to be white. For once let’s give African Americans, Asians, Latinos, and other minorities a chance. Sheesh. Its a new character. Come on.

Easy BOB… Maybe you shouldnt be so racial. Yea they are all white – Jason Bourne Actually WAS white in the storys if you read them (which I doubt you have). Theres not a need for a black power cry out here. could it have anything to do with the fact that maybe the ratio of white to black actors is like 20 to 1? NOOOOO. its gotta be racisism. Why didnt they cast a white dude for ALI, or RAY. Cuz they were black. Just like walk the line and the fighter were wite dudes. Take it easy on the black/white lines, cuz nobody wants to hear about it. If people like you didnt cry racism where there clearly was no racism, then we would start to see a change in the world.
Maybe black people should invent someone themselves. You need to stop with all the “racial casting”. Look at Thor; 2 of the Gods in that film are minorities and there were clearly none in Norse mythology. How is that not offensive? Most white people just shrug their shoulders anyway though. Anyway, what if they decided to recast Blade (a really cool character) as a white guy? I can’t even imagine the backlash. Stop calling racism on everything. Starting to get old.
Apparently you haven’t been notified of this – African Americans are only allowed to have 1 or 2 actors in lead roles in big budget studio films every few decades. Right now we’ve got Will Smith – and Denzel Washington’s still hanging in there giving it the old college try. Everybody else is going to have to wait until Will’s run is over – another 10 or 15 years should just about do it. And the Latinos and Asians? Forget it. It’s not their turn yet – especially if they have anything resembling a foreign accent. That’s just the way the ball bounces, gee. There aren’t even many/any Asians, Latinos or African American leads on network TV shows, so to hand one of them a movie franchise? Get out of here!

Considering that ASkars can actually act, has charisma and significant fanbase (not just girls), he is due a breakout role in movies. Too bad he doesn`t have Lautner or Pettyfer`s agent.

I’d love to be cynical like everyone else, but this is still written and directed by Tony Gilroy. The man who WROTE Bourne 1-3 and oh yeah, also wrote and directed Michael Clayton. I think the sky might not be falling yet.

Paul Dano is 26. When Matt Damon filmed “The Bourne Identity,” he was only 31. So, not that much of a stretch.
Jake is pretty good. Wesley French may just be the go to guy. Watch…Gaborey Sidibe, Alex Pettyfer, Garrett Hedlund, Paul Dano, terrific actors but Wes has it. I’m telling use all.
