Ed Begley Jr., Nick Braun (Red State) and Will Greenberg (Cloverfield) have been cast as leads in Peter Tolan’s comedy pilot for NBC Brave New World. The single-camera project, from Sony Pictures TV, is a workplace comedy that follows a group of unusual characters at Pilgrim Village, a theme park that specializes in recreations of New England in
1637. Braun, repped by WME and manager Adam Levine, will play one of the workers at Pilgrim Village who is embarrassed about his job but needs the money and the health benefits. Innovative-repped Begley will play the ineffective boss at Pilgrim Village who can be somewhat of a prick. ICM-repped Greenberg will play an entitled douche who claims he is an actual Mayflower descendant.

Paging George Saunders –
it’s always such a bummer when a well written pilot gets such a terrible cast.
Exactly what I was thinking! Ed Begley, Jr? That’s bad enough to make sure I will never watch it, not even a commercial for it if I can help it!
Ed is really talented and funny as hell. That’s why he gets cast in Chris Guest movies and he was brilliant on ER all those years. So happy Peter Tolan cast him, Peter obv has great taste!!
Hope it sells.
Elliott, Ed Begley Jr. is a very good actor.
NBC..this same formula earns you 4 million viewers and barely a 2.0 in the demo. So I ask. Why even do this project?
It’s always such a bummer when a great cast has to deal with douchebags.
Hope they pay Chuck Palahniuk for ripping this off.
Begley is a terrific actor, wonderful with comedy, and an incredibly nice person, so of course much of Hollywood will be upset he got a good role.
Wesley French as John Litchfield! Wesley is the hottest Native American actor alive today. Hot hot hot.
Ed’s name attached to this sitcom, “Brave New World”, intrigued me.
Ed’s a great comedic actor, and I thought maybe this sitcom played up his environmental lifestyle.
Then I read, “…workplace comedy that follows a group of unusual characters at Pilgrim Village, a theme park that specializes in recreations of New England in 1637″.
And I INSTANTLY lost interest!
Pilgrims, workplace, recreations, theme park…You lost me at “Pilgrims”.
Pilgrims and people acting like them are BORING. Stinks of period pieces and dusty history.
Now if “Brave New World” was a theme park filled with funny people playing a future environmentally conscious society, with Ed as the quirky leader, I’d give it a shot.
But as it stands, Pilgrims are dead in the water-as is this sitcom.
Sam,
Why don’t you go recycle something and let the professionals worry about what’s funny and what isn’t.
I hear Robby Benson will be in this as well and that in itself is s a great reason to watch!! What a great guy and family…
