Desperate Housewives alum Jesse Metcalfe and up-and-comer Alex Russell are the finalists to play Bobby and Pam Ewing’s adopted son, Christopher, in TNT’s Dallas reboot.
The updated Dallas, from Cane creator Cynthia Cidre and Warner Horizon, centers on the offspring of bitter rivals and brothers J.R. and Bobby Ewing – J.R.’s son, John Ross (Josh Henderson) and his cousin Christopher – who clash over the future of the Ewing dynasty while the fate of Southfork itself weighs in the balance. Also tapped for the pilot are original Dallas stars Larry Hagman as J.R., Patrick Duffy as Bobby and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen, as well as Jordana Brewster as Elena, who is locked into a love triangle with Christopher and John. Michael M. Robin is directing the pilot. Metcalfe is co-starring on NBC’s freshman drama Chase, which has been pulled off the schedule and is not expected to return next season.

Jesse’s hot! He’d be great…
Jesse IS so hot. I think he would be a real addition to this already star-studded cast. Bring him in and make him take his shirt off!

I don’t think there’s much of a contest here. You gotta go with Jesse Metcalfe. He knows the soap opera-masquerading-as-prime-time genre well and he has the tan for it.
Who really cares?
Metcalfe is the way to go with this role. He’s come a long way as an actor from what I’ve seen of him on Chase. With Brewster, Henderson and Metcalfe this reboot will have one sizzling cast!
Jesse Metcalf would be good choice for Bobby’s son. He is dreamy and a little edgy too. He cleaned up really well at the end of DH when he came into money and wasn’t just Gabby’s shirtless gardener anymore.
Good thing they got Hagman to play. This thing would suck without him. He IS Dallas.
It is so Jesse! He would kill this role.
I was so impressed with Jesse on CHASE… Please relocate him to DALLAS.
What about the original cast? Can’t that kid reprise the role?
According to his profile, he stopped acting at 14 in 1992.He graduated college with a Bachelor’s in business and started playing minor league baseball.
He did return to the business around 2004, but he only directs/produces documentaries.He still hasn’t acted in 19 years.

Have none of you seen Jesse Metcalfe act?This guy has been around for about 11 years, and has yet to improve his acting skills.He’s very bad.
I’ve never heard of the other guy, so I can’t attest to his abilities.I’m assuming he can’t be worse, though.
If Jesse is so bad WHY have you been following him for eleven years??? Or are you just some loser that has nothing better to do than to hate on successful young actors, because you are NOT one!!
I would LOVE to see Jesse in this role, he has all the Charisma of the Ewing family and he is just as handsome as Bobby when he was young.. Jesse should DEFINITELY be the choice!!
Alex Russell is one of Australia’s finest up and coming actors and will do a great job with this part. I have nothing against Jessie Metcalfe but the public really need to see this actor to appreciate his talent! HIs first film debut, “Wasted on the Young” is about to hit American cinemas and will showcase his talent. This guy is a star in the making…. watch this space …..
This is going to be VERY interesting. If ever a re-boot came along that had the power to attract both a younger and older audience, this ones’ it.
Just please don’t have Hagman, Duffy and any of the older series-regs playing “kitchen scenes” where they share communications with the new cast over breakfast only to go off on “long business trips” during the day.
This provides a PERFECT “demo melding” opportunity.
Sorry, Jesse is adorable to look at & acting is improved since Passions but he’s still a touch wooden, and if this is why CHASE was pulled — I’ll stick with the original, and the wonderful Barbara Bel Geddes.
AH – Are you suggesting that Cahse was pulled so Jesse could be on Dallas? I hope I’m misreading your comment. Chase was pulled because it had atrocious ratings.
Seems the comment was more about Metcalfe’s acting.
It looks like Jesse’s PR team is working overtime, posting such high praise for his acting “skills” on this blog. Surely you’ve seen him act.
both actors are cute. . . but jesse will attract a young audience who doesn’t even KNOW who Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy are.
If the big names are just old crusters, it will be just a one season reunion show.
I was a Dynasty fan myself. But looks interesting enough to tune in. More interesting with Metcalfe, he is a hottie.
well, they kinda look alike, so go with Metcalfe, because he is more of a sure thing with the ladies, then bring the other guy in at Season 2 as Metcalfe’s long lost brother – he is adopted after all, and that is how these shows work, don’t they?
Chase is getting pulled because they sold it on a leading lady that wasn’t appealing. The show was actually pretty good…Cole Hauser and Jesse Metcalfe were very solid in it.
Didn’t they already do this in 90s tv-movies?
Alex Russell looks like a nice person. Like the kinda guy you’d be out with who had a hot girl and the hot girl would try to hook you up with her hot friend. Then the four of you could do group hangs. Jesse looks like he’d bang the hot girl then bang all her friends and leave none for you.

It’s a really another pathetic Melrose Place and 90210 reboot that will die in a few months. With that cast? Jesse Metcalfe? Jordana Brewster? Who will watch it?
It’s just screams: “I will be canceled in 3,2,1…”
Who will be raped next? Dynasty? They will hire some Rachel Bilson as Alexis daughter and Adam Brody as Krystle and Blake’s son. And they will fall in love. Oh and there will be a love triangle. They will hire Misha Barton as evil daughter of bad boy Adam Carrington…
bring back KNOTS LANDING… that wopuld do so well… like desp housewives… a suburbia soap opera and was way better than dallas
They haven’t remade Who’s The Boss Yet. Or Diff’rent Strokes… So many shows to choose from.
